View Full Version : Tension for Ti-10
quik_silver 11-30-2005, 09:05 PM Hi people.. I am just wondering what should I tension should I use next time when I get my Ti-10 strung. Right now, I am using 23LBS with Bg-68Ti. I am planning to use BG65 * no money for better strings.:crying:* I am planning to use 20lbs next time I string the racquet, I need some power for my shots. Can anyone give me some advices for tension?
Matrix 12-01-2005, 02:36 AM Hi,
I have 2 Ti10 which are strung at 26lbs with BG66. If u have strong forearm, wrist and finger power, then, stringing them at higher tension will give u good control over the shuttle but must use bull strength to whack the shuttle to kill the rally. That is the trade off.:p U choose the tension according to yr need.;)
Matrix:D

DinkAlot 12-01-2005, 05:01 AM Do you have a 2U or 3U?
If 2U, try: 22/24
If 3U, try: 20/22

I have 3u5.. For some reason peopl esay the feel off 23lbs with Ti-10 is pretty nice...But when I play, seems like lowering the tension feels much better imo.
bluejeff 12-02-2005, 09:41 PM For me, I use 22lbs with BG66. Occationaly, I use BG65 at 24lbs.
storkbill 12-02-2005, 10:08 PM i agree with S4Madman that 3U should be strung about 1-2 lbs lower than 2U for 'equivalent' power. I use 2U@23lbs and 3U@22lbs BG-68Ti

Well, for me, it's different. I personally go:
2U: 24/27lbs.
3U: 26/29lbs.
:p

Did you calibrate your stringing machine or is it off by +10lbs.? ;) :p :D
Pete LSD 12-03-2005, 03:56 AM Now now . . . let's not start that :D We may have to use the EC Filter.

But I love the EC Filter. :p :D :D :D

Whaaa? What is an EC Filter..? *Lost*
And why do you people like to exceed the tension by so much... You guys like to try to be like pro-baddy players and exceed the recommendation tension by atleast 10lbs?
Pete LSD 12-03-2005, 07:52 PM EC Filter is new on the market.
It's a special filter for blocking background noise. Call it active sound suppression.
It's available on E-Bay according to S4MadMan.
Why do we like to exceed the recommended tension? We are baddie nuts that's why :) .

Not me. I go with whatever tension I feel is ideal for me. It just happens to be a low of 24/27 on some rackets and up 29/32 on others. :)

I don't call 24/27 low, more like moderate and for some... way too high
khwong 12-04-2005, 09:23 AM 26lbs suits me well on 2 of my 3u Ti10.

Thats a difference of 5lbs depending on the racket. Do you find any correlation with racket stiffness and your ideal tension for that racket? ie do you string lower tension on very stiff rackets and high on flexible rackets? Thx.
GTO-demon 12-04-2005, 11:35 AM i think 25/27 is the best for ti-10 with BG 80 :D

Yes, there's a correlation but I'm not certain how it goes. A good guesstimate: less stiff, lighter racket, I usually string at a higher tension and a heavier or stiffer racket, I will go down in tension, assuming the same string.
With a new racket it's hard to tell what's my ideal string tension so I do trial and error. I best guess the string tension, string the racket then play to see how it goes. I usually start at 23/26 for heavier rackets and 25/28 for lighter rackets. I always start low and go up.
I feel it's always better to have a looser strung racket than a tighter one ( because at these higher tensions); for me it's easier to play with looser than tighter strung rackets. In the past, my string bed was like card board and it just was bad. :p

Thanks for the info. I haven't played in a very long time due to a knee injury and lack of playing facilities. Just started playing again about a month ago and trying to figure out what will work for me.
samtruong200 12-04-2005, 01:04 PM how do u ppl smash with tensions soooo high??? my ti-10 is at bout 21/23 and i still smash pretty hard. ive had my racket higher but i couldnt get anything out of it. mayb its cuz im only 14 but o well

I dont really think it affects the smash that much..
What you have to worry more about is higher tension might break your racket if u mishit or whatsever :p
bluejeff 12-04-2005, 02:50 PM Tension is something that is up to individuals. For normal users, you should use whatever you feel the most comfortable with and not to follow others footsteps.

Agreed.
Try out a range of tensions, and decide what you prefer.
Then ignore everyone else's preferences, because they aren't you.

Yep, everyone is different.
