Yeah, the other day he was defeated by Wong Choong Hann (two sets) in the Malaysia-Indonesia 5th and deciding game. Good for Santoso to recover from that loss as we expect the Indonesian team to beat Malaysia in the Men's team finals. I think LCW is not playing 100%, he struggled against the guy from Vietnam (Nguyen Tien Minh) and almost lost the game. He lost the 1st set and was down 0-8 in the second set and at match point (11-14), luckily the vietnamese committed an error and he was able to win the 2nd set. The third set was total domination by LCW as the vietnamese tired out. A doctor was even called to check the status of the players as they would sit after every rally, they are really exhausted, good for LCW he is the stronger player. But today, his luck run out as he again struggled against Santoso.

Btw, the score is 15-11 and 15-9.

I agree with you based on what i saw in his game against boonsak and taufik and the report from my friend watching the games live. Too bad, i already bought a ticket expecting he will be playing in the finals against Hashim.

No wonder...I didn't know Nguyen Tien Minh held a match point yesterday. It must have been his inexperience that caused him to lose the second set and eventually the match.

Good result for Simon...and hopefully he can build on it. 2 solid wins over Boonsak and LCW certainly do good to his credentials. If only he is not that "lazy" as some mentioned.....

Will be an all-Indo final in 3 disciplines tomorrow? We shall await as today's results unfold slowly......

DEFINITELY! We have to learn how to "sacrifice" our veterans in order to realize the potential stars we have.

On a side note, I am also pretty disappointed at the decisions by Indonesian tennis federation (PELTI) in fielding some veterans like Wynne, Romana and Suwandi. I thought we also some potential youngsters coming up the ranks in tennis too. Too bad Angie is still injured...otherwise, she can definitely win the gold.

Well, for this I still choose Sony. The one which surprised me was Simon can go through the final....well...This is my opinion for final round :

- Sony vs Simon --> Sony 60-40
- Hashim vs Simon --> erm...I don't think Simon will win this match....I give 60-40 also.

"Let"??? I dun't think so. Team Malaysia deserves its victory in the team event because in terms of overall quality, they are more balanced than Team Indonesia. Hafiz, Choong Hann, and Tan Fook/Wan Wah were all on form that day.

The tables were however turned today, with all the matches ended in Team Indonesia's favor. For one thing, I never expected both Simon and Sony to win their respective matches. The doubles win were kinda expected. For mixed, it was touch and go. I guess Anggun/Yunita have more experience by now and also deserved their guaranteed silver medal.

Tomorrow's focus will turn to the women side, with Wong Meow Choo facing Adrianti Firdasari and Wong Pei Tty/Chin Ee Hui facing Jo Novita/Greysia Polii. Firda is definitely on form, having won all 5 matches so far. WMC has a higher chance, but, I hope Firda will win. Meanwhile, its 50-50 between Wong/Chin vs Jo/Greysia. Wong/Chin has a poor record in finals, with no win I believe. Jo/Greysia should be able to handle them after taking care of Saralee/Sathinee tonight.

Hopefully, Team Indonesia can achieve a clean sweep of all 5 medals.

WOMEN'S SINGLES
Wong Meow Choo bt Li Li 11-8, 11-0
Adrianti Firdasari bt Salakjit Ponsana 11-6, 7-11, 13-12 (that's a bloody close ending to the match...luck is obviously with Firda   ) -- the SEA Games definitely is her best tournament so far, with victories over opponents mostly all ranked above her (Salakjit, Li Li, Xing Aiying). Hopefully, Hendrawan's dream of a gold medal from the supposedly weak link (women's singles) can be realized!

MEN'S DOUBLES
Luluk Hadiyanto/Alven Yulianto bt Choong Tan Fook/Wong Choong Hann 15-9, 15-2

i haven't read all the posts in this thread, but wow, what a performance. IMO, the results were not really a surprise to me, to see Indonesia having at least 3 player/pair playing in the Final in 3 of the fields(MS, MD, XD). Surprise to see Simon overcome LCW in 2 gritty sets..
But the surprises were WS(i think as of right now, with this successful performance, Adrianti seemed to have the upper hand as Indo's #1 WS going into next year's UC) and WD(again Jo/Gresyia proved one more time that they are truly Indo's #1 WD pair). Adrianti performance against Salakjit(who is very2 good and by no means an easy opponent) is something she can build upon and give her confidence for next year's tourneys. But if all said and done, and *if* they can capture Golds in *all* the fields, which is possible, then at least they went there with half-the-success and come back not empty handed..But i'll take winning 3 golds which is very nice also.. :)
Wish if the could've gotten a gold in the Men's Team event. But i think some of the less experienced players felt some pressure during the Finals..

BTW, i kinda like Hafiz "reason/excuse" for his straight set loss to Sony today..hehehe..;) :p

I agree. In terms of my personal ranking of the WS players, Firda tops the list, followed by Maria Kristin, and finally Fransisca Ratnasari. However, since the final order is determined by the latest February, it might change. IMHO, Firda and Maria Kristin have improved in the past few mths. Nana is on the other hand is a little bit stagnant.

The target by PBSI is three golds and the team manages to fulfil that. Its still a little disappointing though not to capture the gold in the team event, but, I would gladly exchange that for golds in the women singles and doubles :p :D

HMM...if this is really true....OH YEAH!!!

As I mentioned earlier, LCW is not on his top form at Manila.

have to agree, took him more than an hour to put away the vietnamese guy on day 4, and both were really winded. Before the vietnamese guy suffered a cramp, the game was really close.

...
BTW, i kinda like Hafiz "reason/excuse" for his straight set loss to Sony today..hehehe..;) :p

I think Hafiz's reason is valid, he's not feeling well. LCW is off-form (or maybe he's too busy "encouraging" WMC, he he, so WMC got to final instead ...) But Chan/Koo had no reason to lose to Hendra/Markis. Choong/Wong expected to not go far.

Nguyen Tien Minh has really improved alot. He almost control the games but lack of stamina and concentration gave him up. He did in fact give challenge to the other top players.

As usual, Chan Chong Ming/Koo Kien Keat are very erratic. They lost to both Luluk/Alven and Markis/Hendra in the past few days. Rexy really has his work cut out for him if he's going to turn this pair into a real world class pair! In terms of consistency, Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah are better!

Besides Team Indonesia's young pairs of Markis/Hendra and Hendra/Joko, I will also closely watch the progress of Team Malaysia's more promising trios next year: Mohd Tazari/Lin; Gan/Abdul Latif; and Tan/Ong. They are the ones that will rule the men's doubles world and all are still 20-22 yo (except for Hendra Gunawan)!!

Yeah, I think so. I watched the game. Hafiz was like no fight in the 2nd set. It's no reasonable to see him lost to Sony like that while had beaten him in 2 sets in the day before.
