Every thai has a given name and a nick name.
So Man happens to be his nick name.
Many people called him P'Man.
P is added in to show that he is older than me.
So I would have to call him P'Man.
But if Boonsak is younger than me,I will have to call him N'Man.
Clear?
Yeah!I will support him too!!
Dont worry,Boonsak is full of surprises...haha!

ArmotecDude 12-18-2005, 02:52 AM i did not understand what Sigit/Candra were doing. They were not trying or something? Their smashes were not up to their full potential. Sigit/Candra seem to be enjoying themselves more than winning??
I'm gonna cry!
:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
yannie 12-18-2005, 02:59 AM China wins all!!! :D Happy day :D
Nephrus 12-18-2005, 03:01 AM The first set was just a total disappointment in all the points they lost by own errors. Infact i think there were many shots that Sigit could have smashed at the net but just didn't do it... And i do agree with Armortec dude up there when he says they were enjoying themselves... When you are down that much you SHOULDN"T attempt trick shots and then laugh about it  (thats how you lost the world championships !!!)
Oh well what a terrible tournament to watch :D This shall not be in my collection of videos !!! :D
Nephrus 12-18-2005, 03:04 AM By the way, what do you guys think of those "trophy vases". You'd think they could come up with something better than red spittoons. LOL. Anyone notice the expression on Nova and Lilyana's face when they got their Vase "Whats this? something to hold the flowers i'm getting or do i use it on my opponent's head?" (actually i think all the nonchinese players were kinda confused with it). hahaahha:D
ArmotecDude 12-18-2005, 03:18 AM By the way, what do you guys think of those "trophy vases". You'd think they could come up with something better than red spittoons. LOL. HAHAHHA YES I DID!!! Nova was like "wtf is this?" when he saw it. He was looking around the vase for something, probably gold, haha.
There were so many kill shots that Sigit could've done at the net, and Candra was taking the shuttle way to late at the back and the sides. My brother suggested that Sigit/Candra were using Fu/Cai's power against them, and that's how they mangaged to catch up in the 2nd set. Also, where are the Indonesian coaches?
5 for 5 Chinses wins.
Brave_Turtle 12-18-2005, 03:30 AM Something is strange about this Tournament. First, where is the INA coach? Then, Sigit/Candra looked like they didn't even care about the game.
They seem to really enjoy the game tough. I saw Sigit smiling for a numerous time. Plus, after they lost, Cai/Fu were so happy while Candra/Sigit were laughing and imitating Cai/Fu.
In conclusion, I hated the whole tournament. Lots of good players were missing. New scoring system sux and crowd sux. They were only cheering for China team. It's kinda understandable but c'mon... I haven't seen any crowd that was so quiet after a good shot from a non-china country.
Anywhere else, even in INA, MAL, German.... crowds cheers for other country also but this time it was dead.
And for the prize it was hilarious to see Nova and Natsir receiving the trophy vases.

Not to mention the commentators suck. I really hate it when games are played in china including all of the reasons you already mentioned, China also only broadcasts the games where CHINESE players are involved no matter where they stand in the tournament. And another thing is how BIASED the commentators comment on the game. For example, When a Chinese player smashes and the other team manages to return it and results in a point its a LUCKY shot, but when a chinese player gets it in its called skill. Also the way they talk about the calibre of other countrie's players isn't that nice either. Im not trying to spread hate, or anything Im a full blooded chinese guy myself but somethings you just gotta say heh...Unlike the commentators from the China Open where one commentator was from HK and the other was Zhao Jian Hua who really commented the game for what it was.

Well most commentators are like that. It's the nature of their job to be a bit biased because they are hired by the TV stations for a certain country. So for the same match, you have different versions of commentary for different countries.
In Malaysia when the national TV stations bring us live-telecasts, the commentator is a Malaysian who sides Malaysian players. Then if you don't even have your own country's TV crew at the location shooting the matches, unfortunately you have to follow whatever matches that are shown by the hosting nation's TV station. Not to mention if you don't have your country's version of the commentary to listen to.
It's the same thing with All-England. I have the recording of the men's doubles final 2005 between Cai/Fu and Paaske/Rasmussen. Commentators were Darren Hall (ex-England top singles player) and Gillian Clarke. It was so obvious that they were siding the Danes (caucasians). They were discussing possible strategies for the Danes to win the match (though eventually Cai/Fu won). They were much less excited when the Danes lost points.
Don't tell me that if you were the commentator you will give an unbiased commentary if your country's player is playing, that you will not sound excited when your country's player scores. So it's all the same.

Of course but I will not make reasons such as ''he got lucky'' when the player really worked hard. Plus the comentator mentionned it more than one time.
I'm also a chinese but sometimes Chinese comentator are going to far. The english commentator have been very good so far. The French were funny but I don't know about the dutch.

Well I didn't watch that part of the match. Maybe what you say is true. But:
I'm also a chinese but sometimes Chinese comentator are going to far.
So? Being Chinese doesn't automatically make your criticisms againt Chinese commentators legitimate. A lot of Chinese living in western countries like to use this argument:" Hey I'm Chinese but I also criticise Chinese. So I am very objective. "
Anyway, there is no such thing as Chinese commentators being bad and non-Chinese commentators being less bad. There are only bad commentators and good commentators. I know of some commentators in China which are bad but I also know a lot of good commentators in China. Maybe you happened to listen to the bad one. Did he talk very fast and likes to use A LOT OF redundant proverbs to describe the games? I think the name is Han Qiaosheng or something like that. Now he is a bad commentator. He has very limited knowledge on our beloved game. He talks crap and no substance.

I think you didn't get my point. I didn't say I was chinese in order to make my argument legitimate. I said I was Chinese because I'm proud to be chinese but it was a shame to hear that from my own blood.
Wether you think it's legitimate or not, I don't really care. Anyone can have their own opinion.
I don't exactly know the name of the commentator, but I guess we are talking about the same guy. You are right, he was using plenty of redundant proverbs that has nothing to do with the game.

badMania 12-18-2005, 09:37 PM Quote from today's Kompas:
Candra mengakui luncuran kok lawan cukup cepat, membuat dirinya dan Sigit sulit mengontrol permainan dan lebih banyak bertahan. ”Tidak apa. Kami datang ke sini sesungguhnya lebih untuk mencoba skor baru,” tutur Candra.
This explains why Candra/Sigit look so relaxed after the defeat and were busy discussing with each other at the presentation ceremony. At least they didn't appear to be that disappointed at losing the match
Essentially, he said that the speed of the shuttle was a bit too fast for him and Sigit to control the game, which was why they were forced to defend most of the times. Anyway, they were in Yiyang mainly to test the new scoring system.
s1nn3r 12-19-2005, 04:56 AM I watch fu/cai vs sigit/candra match. Definately the ina pair isnt going all out for the match, you can see sigit always laughing when he made a mistake or when he hit the shuttle to cai yun. At the end of the game you can even see candra mimicing the chinese pair celebration. while the chinese pair took it seriously.

the INA pair were definitely not trying in the match. there were so many shots for Sigit to put away at the net, yet he was playing w/ Cai Yun and smile afterwards. Candra had so many opportunities at the back and dropped 3 times consecutively.
i saw candra minmicing the chinese's celebration too. i thought it was kinda funny. i dont think they like the 21pt system?
i still dont know what happened to the INA coaches? does anyone know?

From Bola:
The coaches were not there because it was an invitational tournament (???)
So, only players competing were sent there.

I watched the game but I did not feel that Sigit/Chadra were taking it easily. I felt Fu/Cai were playing a superb game with lots of attacks, which fit the 21 points system very well. Cai's net coverage was like Tony Gunawan at WC2005, creating a solid wall and Fu's smashing was deadly. Furthermore, it would be very dumb for Sigit/Chandra to fool around in a tournament like when they were millions of audience watching the coverage live.
Nephrus 12-19-2005, 03:16 PM perhaps it was a form of peaceful protest from INA haha

Sort of making the posture "final, so what......who cares"
s1nn3r 12-19-2005, 08:50 PM The next meeting between fu/cai & sigit/candra will be very important for their mental state.
if fu/cai win, this will put a lot of pressure on sigit/candra as this will make them not to fool around and the chinese pair will beat them anytime.
if sigit/candra win, fu/cai will have a mental block on their opponent. This will give them an impression that sigit/candra can beat fu/cai if they take the game seriously.
just my opinion! Cause the Ina team are good with psycho tactics! :D
cooler 12-19-2005, 09:11 PM from the very first game at the world cup, cai and fu look very sharp, i didnt see any weakness as it seem they have made improvement and were ready for sigit and candra. It mean the indo pairs have to up their standard to beat cai/fu in the next go around. Ca/fu exploiting the new 21 rally pt system too, going at 100% when the umpire said 'Play'.

I just finished watching the video and agree, it seemed like Sigit and Candra were playing around, not even taking the game seriously. There were so many opportunities for them to attack and they just dropped or hit a half-effort smash (I don't even want to call it a smash). Then they were imitating Fu/Cai after they lost, raising their hands in the air and trying copy Fu/Cai's gestures.
I wonder what happened to Sigit and Candra; and what was there motivation or rather, therelackof.

Well, I think Sigit and Candra were floating everything up there and quite a few short. This will make Fu and Cai look very sharp. If you serve up cookies to arguably the best smasher (currently), he's going to BOMB you and make you look foolish, which is what he did. :p

I didn't get to see all of Candra and Sigit's reactions, only the very end of the playback on the recorded video. So I cannot comment. I'd like to hear what was going through Candra and Sigit's minds during the Final, why they played so lethargically first.
