The main difference to me is that my racket string broke every week if using nylon.

a nylon shuttlecock is made by nylon
a feather shuttlecock is made by goose feather
nylon cost as much as the feather or even cost more than the feathers is because of its durability.

I don't like nylon because it doesn't produce the "music of badminton" as well as the speed and feeling of hitting a real birdie, you know what i mean? one of the best part about playing badminton for me is enjoying the sound when the birdie being hit.

I started a thread in the Equipment forum on Nov 11th of last year regarding this subject.

I started a thread in the Equipment forum on Nov 11th of last year regarding this subject. There was quite a bit of info with some good feedback from Mag (on the 12th & 15th of Nov). You can find my original posting at:

http://www.badmintonforum.com/forums/read.php?f=4&i=8115&t=8115

Much of what I had written in the post above was accepted fact while some of it was my own speculation & theories (as I had indicated in that posting).

In looking for that old posting of mine, I came across another thread regarding nylon & feather shuttles that started later that same month (on Nov 26) in THIS(General) forum. Some good ideas & info there as well.

I noticed that within this thread, there was a Dec 2nd post from Cooler in which he says that some of the stuff that I claimed about nylon was erroneous, but he never stated what he thought was incorrect.

As I stated previously in that Nov 11 post, some of what I stated there was my own observations & speculation. I also invited anyone with differing observations or theories to speak their mind in order to spark some discussion. The only responses that I saw from cooler at that time was about other offshoot topics.

So cooler... let's hear it. What do you think I had wrong?

I mainly talked about the prince's feather shuttle.

Sorry, i can't seem to find my Dec 2. post that you are referring to. Therefore, i prefer not to comment on the specifics of my Dec 2 post.

As I said above (it may not have been clear), the post in question was part of a thread that was started on Nov 26 in the General forum. U can find it at:

You have good a memory gregr, I forgot about that statement of mine already, it has been 4 months you know. I do admit that it's not nice to knock a guy and run. However, i just got home around 12:45am so i'll get back to you on this later on this thread. I'm not avoiding the issue but i'm thirsty, hungry and tired and not in a mental state to talk about shuttle physics right now :(

Nope, I can't pretend to have a good memory. I never even saw that 2nd thread until just recently. I just happed to come across it in doing a Search for my "Physics" thread. Viver happened to mention my Equipment forum post (from early Nov.). Your response was apparently a response to Viver's mention.
