View Full Version : Babolat
kuowei 12-21-2005, 03:36 AM A couple of years ago I bought an Babolat Synchro. Great racket, head light, 85 grams and medium flexible.
I played it for 3 years now and never regret that I bought the racket. Excellent swing, I could hit the backhand clear till the end of the field and my smashes were awesome. I bought the racket because the trainer and friends of mine played with it, I played it for a while and the racket suited me from the beginning. During double play I like to put my hand a little bit higher toward the steel. Just above the shaft babolat added two rings of rubber wich gives an excellent grip for the service.
Durability of the racket is also awesome. I have had several clash incidents during play (not so well in the beginning because I'm left handed) but my rackets are still alive. A friend of mine broke his racket last weekend during competition after 5 years a heavily and intensive usage (including clashing etc. etc.) I sold my spare also a babolat to him.
Now I'm looking for someting new and I'd never played with yonex before, so I bought the MP-66 because this racket is almost as similair as the babolat synchro.
For overall use this racket is great and most recommendable to players who are slight agressive, though it is an defensive racket you can play it very offensive because the easy usuge of the racket and his flexibility. For the really hard hitters not playing from the wrist this is not a good racket. A player at our club played with this racket before and broke his in 1 month and bought the MP-99 much more suitable for him.
franxon 12-21-2005, 04:26 AM i'm quite tempted to try out the BabolaT badminton racquets like the Satelite Nitro or Solar. what do you think are the similar feel models from Yonex Cab, MP, AT or NS series to each of the Satelite?I remember I saw BabolaT badminton racquets in singapore but can't remember which sports store. i'll find it out when i have time.
kuowei 12-22-2005, 02:05 AM I only can speak for the synchro. I believe that the synchro is most similair to the mussle power because of the flex. Yonex overall has rackets wich are head heavy and not light wich makes it very difficult to compare 2 different brands. As I wrote before I've never played with a Yonex before and this is the first time I bought one MP-66. But I tried playing with a Armortec 700 but all the satelite product isn't that stiff as that.
Babolat language medium flex is in Yonex language flexible. There are few rackets wich are head heavy within babolat and if there is a racket it isn't as heavy as the Yonex version. Personally I would saay to try it first a couple of times to see if the racket fit's you. If you're used playing with a stiff or very stiff racket you need time to adjust to the racket because of his flexibility. I'd never liked heavy head because this make me "slow" during play and gives me the feeling that I'm helpless during play but could be also adjusting to the racket.
In comparission with durability I believe the Babolat is much stronger then the Yonex. I've seen a lot of Yonex break in our club and a Babolat once with really brutal force and then broke. I'm left handed so clashes will happen more often then when 2 players are right handed.
My advise is to compare your racket to the specs of a babolat (www.babolat.com (http://www.babolat.com/)). The rest of the yonex rackets I'm not familiair with. Before the babolat I've played with the carlton powerflo series.
boutta 12-23-2005, 07:50 AM I never tried out the Solar, but the Nitro can be compared to a MP88 from Yonex. It's quite even balanced and really light. Maybe it's little bit stiffer than the MP.
chlova_05 01-26-2006, 12:52 PM I play badminton alot and like Yonex... but becuase my sister is using yonex already... i want to try something else... so i bump into babolat... http://www.babolat.com/english/badminton/rackets/index.php
their technology was very impresive... and on top of that... the world best tennis player is using a babolat... so i want to give babolat a try... i'm planning to order a babolat satelite (from UK)... does anyone know anything about babolat racket..

Babolat have some nice rackets.. But I have to say I am extremely dissapointed in their lack of focus on badminton (as it seems)... I got a look at their 2006 lineup.. and the big news this year was...hmmm.. new color on the same rackets!!!.. otherwise same models, nothing new... Highly dissapointed.. They do not seem to be commited to badminton if they are not developing their equipment...
forrestyung 01-26-2006, 07:53 PM I have Babolat Chrono and Comet, both of them are good rackets. I have never tested real Nitro or other models (my friend has Nitro and Solar before, but sold out). Babolat's shaft is more flex than Yonex's top range, so you may need time to adapt it.
One interesting thing, Babolat Pure Drive Tennis racket was out of stock for a while in Hong Kong and created a Seafood price (bid up price) for a short period. It is the first time that I heard in a non-discountued racket.
LazyBuddy 01-26-2006, 10:32 PM Why u need to oder from UK? www.sportsnetonline.net also carries Babolat, and they are based in TX. Which model from the satelite series you want to get?
redster 01-26-2006, 11:16 PM I just got A babolat Pulsar, and like it a lot.Power is good, stiff and I like the control.I can say my game improved a bit.Got mine during my vacation in the Philippines, played ther as well during my vacation.

chlova_05 01-26-2006, 11:29 PM ey lazy buddy...
thank you man... :) cause i was going to buy off from this place that charge me 29.99 GDP (that's 53) for shipping.. that's only shipping.. and the racket cost 75 GDP... so... wow.. that website will really save me alot.. i even call london and canada to talk to the store owner to see if they can sell it to me...
thank you so much...
well i'm probably going to order the satelite pulsar... and then compare that to my sister yonex nanospeed 8000 see if yonex is better or not...

Well, i believe they are toally different rackets... Whether "better" or "worse", is purely personal preference. ;)
lmallier 01-27-2006, 04:17 AM In BKK they are way too expensive. Better off with Yonex.
BTW the best tennis player is still Federer no? He is playing with Wilson rackets not Babolat afaik. Roddick uses Babolat.

has any one tried any of these? how are they?
irnov 05-10-2006, 08:21 PM Lazybuddy,
I checked the website, but they don't have Babolat racket
I have used the Babolat Pulsar for the last 1.5 years. I have a generation one and a generation two, different paint jobs as i read someone's comment earlier in this thread. Generation 2, actually is thinner in the head.
I have 4 all together, 1 generation one and 3 generation two. Though i only have used 2 of them, 2 are still brand new and unstrung. I'm very happy with the racquet, will probably use them for a long time, like before when i used the Carbonex 21, until i broke them, 4 over 8 years. The last one i owned is actually still going, i sold it and it is still banging away.
Quality racquet, it took me a while to get use to a normal length rkt again, as i have played with "long" rkts the last few years. I can maneover very well with it and very well for drives...too bad i have stone hands around the net, haha...
I think outside of Yonex, alot of professional players are actually using this brand. Just like the yonex site, the Babolat site shows all recent results of their sponsor'd players.

very. I bought the Satellite Solar Long and my first impression was like... Wtf... this racket has no feel, no power, no nothing. (until this point i used yonex)
After around a week or so of playing, I thought this racket was so great that I considered buying a few more.
its super durable (paint chips from clashing with a basketball net... I was so angry... Its not warped though)
Racket plays quite well. I recomend it to anyone who has some extra bucks to spend.
babolatbad 05-25-2007, 12:31 PM If you are interested in Babolat hopefully I can help. I am the rep for Ontario. drop me a line if you are interested in trying our line.
