This time, the top Chinese players come in full force to warm up for the All England next week. However, there are some notable absentees in some fields, especially in men's doubles. Top Indonesian, Denmark, and Malaysian pairs choose not to come this time, leaving the field open for Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng to grab their first title of the year.

Men's singles could perhaps be the most competitive with some big names from China and Korea. Meanwhile, the Chinese would be also expected to dominate the women's singles and doubles with all their top players competing in full force.

The mixed doubles is pretty open as well, and I do expect to see some surprises as early as the first round.

A few interesting matches:
Lin Dan vs Sho Sasaki
Yohan Wiratama Hadikusumo vs Wu Yun Yong
Lu Yi vs Pei Wei Chung
Krishnan Yogendran vs Chen Jin

Lee Jae Jin/Jung Tae Keuk vs Tadashi Ohtsuka/Keita Masuda

Seo Yoon Hee vs Lu Lan
Hwang Hye Yoon vs Lee Yun Hwa
Jiang Yanjiao vs Wang Lin

Kumiko Ogura/Reiko Shiota vs Ha Jung Eun/Hwang Yu Mi

Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen vs Lee Yong Dae/Hwang Yu Mi
Yoo Yeon Seong/Ha Jung Eun vs Daniel Shirley/Sara Runesten-Petersen

Lu Yi vs Pei Wei Chung
Krishnan Yogendran vs Chen Jin

Lee Jae Jin/Jung Tae Keuk vs Tadashi Ohtsuka/Keita Masuda

I think it will be easy for Lu Yi and Chen Jin. The other one is 50-50 for me.

Lee JJ/Jung TK did not perform that well in the Swiss Open. The Japanese are a tough obstacle. This match is interesting to watch.

Seo Yoon Hee vs Lu Lan
Hwang Hye Yoon vs Lee Yun Hwa
Jiang Yanjiao vs Wang Lin

WS has by far the most interesting 1st round encounters.
Also:
Hirose v Schenk
Mori v Karachkova
It's been a while since we last saw the Japanese.

I am now following the match between Roman Spitko and Shon Seung Mo through the online-score. Shon nearly wrapped up the second set with game point at 14-10, but Spitko made it 14-14. He's now 2 points away from a big upset, leading 15-14.

The match between Yohan and Wu is also close, with Wu leading in the third set 9-7.

I don't know his age but I think he musn't be very young anymore... ;)

This draw preety much the same as All England Women Single 2006. I mean for the seeded players, they will meet the same opponent.

In All England QF, if all seeded past through:

ZN VS Yao Jie

PiHY VS Tracey H

Mia VS Wang Chen

Xu HW VS XXF

Even the unseeded players pretty much got the same group.Example: Eriko H in Zhang Ning group again. Jiang Yan Jiao again in Mia draw.

This is not a good day for Korean players.

After SSM lost to Roman S in first round, their new MD pair Lee Jae Jin/ Jung Tae Kuk lost 2 sets to the Japanese pair 11-15, 4-15.

their new MD pair Lee Jae Jin/ Jung Tae Kuk lost 2 sets to the Japanese pair 11-15, 4-15.

it seems to me the new Korean pairs didn't do very well after the split, it's better to keep Lee Jae Jin with his former partner.

lol - did you miss me guys - i didn't make any comments on english performances at all..

the only remarkable english performance i've seen up to now was andrew smith forcing shoji sato into three games by taking the first one 15-5..

nice work by the youngster - it seems he's the top ranked english mens singles player now. altho he's not ranked no. 1 in england because he doesn't play many tournaments at home..
