It's still early to say that MAS is dominating MD. Who knows? They may all fail tomorrow (touch wood!) :p

There are no more easy matches so they have to be at their very best to make the semis. The fact that 2 of the pairs are young is quite encouraging for the future of MAS doubles. Also both are Malay/Chinese combos (now, what's that got to do with them playing well? :D )

No, not dominating but the way they are playing and the pairs they have beaten recently and in this tournament bode well for the future. They seem to have got over that Malaysian malaise of strong talent, weak mind and always put up a good fight. Thanks Rexy, ha ha :D

Malaysian players (except maybe Nicol David in squash) had the tendency to fail when the escpectation is high...so most of the time, good result come in a suprise

I think Msian and Indonesian players somehow play the most entertaining badminton out there. Maybe the Danes as well, to be honest.

If you cannot live with expectation, you should not be playing for your country.

well, considering we have 3 pairs from 4 in the semi - finals, i reckon the malaysians are doing quite well!! sad that Chan Chong Ming had to retire though due to his stomach pains..

Agreed but an all Malaysian final will be much easier for the heart after the amount of pounding on the organ during the quarter-final

Quick question: Malay/Chinese MD combo is definitely not new in Malaysia but are these two pairs the first two who "make the world feel their presence"? Can't recall any earlier pair who have made impacts at the international level.

Yes, but I don't want a repeat of the headgames in the AE final as in 2004 between those particular Danes and Lee/Choong.

The headgames are normal, purely psychological and technically legal.

It was umpire Jane Hancock that spoiled the show.

There was a pair in 1971 - Ng Boon Bee/Punch Gunalan (Malaysia) winning the AE before Razif Sidek/Jalani Sidek .

And what a suprise there was a Malaysian player with USA player winning AE title in 1957 - J.C. Alston (USA)/'Johnnie' Heah (Malaysia) ????
Could anyone tell me about them? How did they be partnership?

Congrats to the 3 MAS MD, they have beaten the odds and went into the semi-finals, make MAS having 1 guaranteed place in the final. The things that make more sweets it's because there are 2 young promising pairs :D and as if they have given the lesson to INA (PBSI), in order to be top MD (even you are young) is to be sent into top intenational tournaments regularly, not having "quarantine order" because of target oriented. Now, i can't imagine how the young INA MD can catch up with these young pairs.

It is surprising that 3 pairs of MAS went into semi final in MD.
It is sad that Chan/Koo didn't make it. Otherwise .....

It seems that the werk of Rexy has come to a reality.
And also the work of Li Mao shows us the good results.
It remember me back in 80's when Sidek brothers 'dominated' MD and MS.
Is the time coming for MAS ? I hope so.

You are right eskey.
It is a kind of 'punishment' for PBSI in MD.

The 1957 pair sounds like a temporary grouping with two MD players whose respective partners couldn't make it to the competition at the last minute. Incredible upset by a scratch pair?

Guess multi-racial countries are more likely to produce multi-racial double pairs. Presently active top pairs are,

- Chandra/Sigit (I think Chandra is a Chinese while Sigit is an Indonesian)
- Tony/Howard

Anymore?
