Uhm....maybe that is just because they lack of concentration and mentality, I notice that in 2004 final was also the same, they did very good job before reaching final, but in final they lost.....sorry for Malaysian pairs....

Now the competition in the mens' doubles more interesting.
Indonesia, China, Denmark, Malaysia and Korea are equally strong.

Now it is getting more difficult to predict who will win in every tournament!....

The Malaysians lost because they are too confident. I heard Tan Fook said that they will take them down in two games so don't worry. But when they did not get the attacking chances like thay got from earlier rounds, they were troubled and Tan Fook is more unstable and makes lotsa of mistakes.

Exactly. this was what i felt by looking at their face.

i wouldn't blame them for being worried.. after seeing their compatriots lose from 14-5 up the danes proved that they were the pair to be beaten at this tournament. difficult to ever think you've got the game wrapped up, difficult to relax which sometimes is the key to playing ur best game.

All credit to rexy and malaysian MD pairs tho.. to have 3 pairs out of 4 in the MD is totally amazing, Jens and Martin won't be around forever, and i doubt that there will be a pair like them in europe for a long time. the malaysian pairs showed that almost all pairs can be broken down and that if u use the right tactics even the best pairs can be made to look foolish. All hail the king of doubles - Rexy! Rexy! Rexy!

I really dont know what to say. Anyhow.. i'm always will suport my frens no matter how. Its what has happened already happened. Well at least they had a good start this year and i do believe they will win some tourneys this year.

They always crumble under presure. Most Malaysia player are weak mentally. Usually, the higher the expectation, the harder they fall. In my memory Malaysia do not have any player who are strong mentaly.

When those expectation die off, you will see Malaysia player start winning some tournament again. That's what happen in Bolehland.:cool:

Haha, you are kind of funny. But true enough, i remembered that it was CTF too who gave easy points to the danes at the crucial point in AE 2004 final.Instead, Wan Wah, the one receiving the yellow card stayed cooler. However, doubles is an event which needs the team work of both players. So, we shouldn't blame any of them. Maybe in some other events CTF has performed better than LWW.

Jan 23: VETERAN pair Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah last night were left yet again with the nearly men tag as the nation’s wait for the All-England men’s doubles title stretches to 25 years.
Lightning struck twice for the Malaysian pair from Perak as they succumbed to the same Danish pair who stopped them on their tracks two years ago.

This time Jens Erikksen and Martin Lundgaard Hansen were ruthless in their execution, winning 15-6, 14-17 and 15-2 in 71 minutes at the Birmingham National Indoor Arena.

So from having three pairs in the last four, Malaysia’s hopes of consigning Razif-Jalani Sidek’s 1982 victory into the history books were dashed.

Instead they returned empty handed yet again, giving us an anti-climax and a disappointing end to the campaign for the contingent.

Chief coach Yap Kim Hock, when contacted, said Tan Fook-Wan Wah was not focused on the task at hand because they allowed themselves to be distracted by line calls.

“As an experienced pair, they should not have thought too much on the judging.

“It was a pity because had they repeated their performance in making a mockery of the seeding when they beat Sigit Budiarto-Chandra Wijaya in the second round, I was sure the title would be theirs.

“They may never get the chance again. They were so close yet so far,” said Kim Hock.

Despite another barren run by his charges, Kim Hock chose to see the glass as half full.

The Johor doubles specialist pointed out that overall there was an improvement in the Malaysian team’s performance compared to the previous campaign based on the fact that there were three pairs in the men’s doubles semifinal and a representative in the men’s singles last four.

Apart from Tan Fook-Wan Wah, two young pairs – Zakry Latif and Gan Teik Chai as well as Fairuz Izuan Tazari and Lin Woon Fui – sneaked into the last four.

Lee Chong Wei was the nation’s sole representative in the men’s singles semi-final before losing to Lin Dan.

“I think the two young pairs deserved credit for advancing to the last four. If you look at our performance chart this year, we had more representatives in the last four, as opposed to only Chong Wei and Wong Choong Hann in the men’s singles semi-final last year.

“I am optimistic that our boys are on the right track,” said Kim Hock.

Yeah, i did rush back home to watch the match. I also pray hard for them to take the danes down. But too bad, they loose :( . I think they already did their best. Who would like to loose twice in such a BIG BIG tournament right? :o

But reaching a second All England final so short after coming back from injury is already a major accomplishment! Let's not forget this !!! :)

There is no excuses after losing twice to the same pair......the Danes are simply better and they deserve the victory ! As for Chong/Lee, there is no doubt they are one of the top doubles pairs at their best.

The statement from Kim Hock was a sad one. They were twice so close and yet...

After the match a chinese reporter said to me:''Wan Wah and Tan Fook are quite popular in China.They may have beaten all world champions and even Olympic champion Ha/Kim many times, but then they couldn't add any big titles to their career.''

Anyway, i think that it is not easy for a player who has been on and off court due to injuries to maintain his standard. But both LWW and CTF manage to maintain their game after so many years. They were in the 4th placing in Sydney Olympic 2000, won some tournaments over the intervening years, and twice AE runner-up.

So, we should continue to support them, respect them, appreciate them and remember them as one of the best doubles pair our country has produced.

P/S: No doubt that Erikssen/Lundgaard are good but i don't think that LWW/CTF were playing to their true ability in the final, just like Kim Hock said. Otherwise, the match would be an exciting one.

Pretty sure indeed, I was just standing in the back stage with the Malaysian team with Rexy when I overheard him say that to another chinese coach. Their first few mistakes had them that its not as easy as it seems as it was earlier rounds. Perhaps its the pressure for them to perform that had them nervous all over. All their team mates exptected them to give a good fight to the Danes. Kay Bin and Beng Hong was cheering hard for them from the stage seats. And they're just seating behind me.

So, we should continue to support them, respect them, appreciate them and remember them as one of the best doubles pair our country has produced.
