Just a Chinese song named NEVER GIVING UP (http://huangshujun.math.sdu.edu.cn/mp3/other/o30.mp3) for your decision on badminton:D
中文歌词
My English is very poor, :p can't translate it into English correctly, so if you want to know what this song means you'd better ask your mum translate it for you,;) hope you will like it!

I believe a good badminton player is not born but rather, is made. As with any dream, it is not enough just not giving up. Apart from working hard, also work smart. Make some plans with both short-term and long-term objectives. Make out a list of areas which you want to improve and achieve every period of time and stick to them. Do not leave anything to chance or luck. Sportsmen have limited time and the winners are those that maximize the improvements within that time. Many talented and potential sportsmen never make it because of mis-management. And please take very good care of your body as it is your tool of trade. ;)
I am not 100% sure if that applies well to badminton, but in most things in life, proper planning works wonders. As the good old saying goes "10 minutes on stage, 10 years of hard work off-stage". Something along that line...
Best of luck!
:D

. . . on never giving up . . .
Some time ago when the slings and arrows of outrageous misfortune were coming fast and quick, and nowhere to hide, and self just short of throwing in the towel, a bosom buddy quietly slipped this on my desk one evening. It probably did not change the outcome much, but the outlook got a makeover for certain!
Here's wishing your buddy does the same to you!
ps: the original "artist" credit should go to one US fourth grader from Sea Pk Elem in Satellite Beach, FL, if I recall a little bloke who went by the moniker James Dean. If someone has better knowledge, please feel free to correct me.

Good!:)
If you want to speak Chinese freely with your LIN Dan, XIE Xingfang and CAI Yun etc. in the future, you should often read some Chinese articles such as Qian Zi Wen [千字文], San Zi Jing [三字经], Bai Jia Xing [百家姓] (we call them as "San Bai Qian [三百千]"), Zhu Zi Jia Xun [朱子家训] and Di Zi Gui [弟子规] etc. You're so young that you can grasp them in a short time.:D
"10 minutes on stage, 10 years of hard work off-stage"
Are you from China? :) In China, it's also saying: "ONE minutes on stage, TEN years of hard work off-stage" - 台上一分钟,台下十年功。;)

Good......love your spirit. I thought Hong Kong needs to learn cantonese. :) Anyway, try hard to grasp Mandarin.
It's good that Lin Dan and most of the Chinese players can speak proper Mandarin without the slang.
Since you are from UK, have you heard of BUSA games? If not, please read on. It's a badminton league between all the universities in UK. Of course it's for university students. But, if you happen to know any of the captain, I suggest that you ask him to let you play in the league (I can see that you are good:)). It's a very good opportunity to polish up your badminton skills and gain experience as you can play against dozens of good badminton players which are mostly ASIAN students.
This is also a good way for you to mix with the Chinese ASIANs. I played for my UNI and the competition is really challenging. I'm sure you can learn something from it as you are still young. This is also one good way for you to be a potential future professonal badminton player. Hehe...It's just a suggestion though.

Hey thiery, I've heard about the BUSA but I don't know any captains :( But I've been playing with a group of Chinese Asians in Cambridge during weekends. Some of them represent Cambridge in the annual Cambridge/Oxford tournament and they are quite good. Most are Malaysian Chinese and some from HK and China but they all speak Cantonese :p :) :D
I really enjoy playing with them because they always give me tips during games ;)

Saturday 21st,semi-finals day. My family and I were walking to a hotel see my friend Dominic(the person who gave us the live scores) and we saw Lin Dan jogging on the streets to warm up for his match against Lee Chong Wei. So we went to him and took pictures and I asked him to sign a picture which I took with him last year, then for the first time I saw him smiling:) We got inside the hotel and saw players from most of the countries staying in that hotel. My sister,Dominic and I took pictures with Candra Wijaya,Pi Hongyan,Lee Hyun Il,Widiato Natsir,Peter Gade,Zhang Jun,Wei Yili,Zhang Yawen,Xie Xingfang +lots more:D When they started playing I was shouting for China and Lin Dan really loud again. When Lin Dan was losing in the third game against Lee Chong Wei:crying:I shouted even louder so I lost my voice:eek: When he won he took his black t-shirt off and went through to talk to the coaches about the match. So me and one of my friends sprinted as fast as I could into the authorised area even though we don't have a pass:o We went up to Lin Dan,he asked for a signatlure and asked I for his t-shirt,he just gave it to me!!!:) It was the shirt he actually wore,it was very wet which made it heavy. I was so happy that I couldn't go to bed until half-past two in the morning. I thought it couldn't get better,BUT IT DID!!!
That have change my perception of Lin dan.a little bit lah.he seems so nice to that cute boy.maybe he have a different personality outside the court.and being polite to children, thats was awesome.
malaysians think he is arrogant because his attitude towards us is different.
LinDan reacted differently the following year.

I feel so misfortunate to have started badminton so late... You have lived what most people in this forum would dreamed of. It would be just awesome that there was a tournament in Canada/Montreal or near, so I can go because I can't go really far to see international player... I've never went to any professional tournament. I must miss something big in my life here. I just hope one day, I can have a little bit of chance and live something magical...
