Gamma X-2...Is 2 mounting points enough?

Hello all,

I'm considering purchasing a Gamma X-2 for personal use. I'm wondering if 2 mounting points are enough for stringing at tensions less than 24lbs? Anyone have any experience with this model? The reviews I could find seem good.

DO NOT buy that for strining badminton rackets, i bought that and strung loads of badminton rackets with it, its breaks the rackets at the 12 oclock position, even at low tensions(18lbs), don't buy it... trust me, its only useful for stringing tennis rackets and squash rackets, buy yourself a 6point stringing machine.... trust me

I have not used the Gamma X-2 before but I have used a 2 mount points machine to string badminton rackets around 30 lbs successfully. Since you are stringing less than 24lbs, I think it should be fine.

there are machines that are 2 point and string rackets fine, but just not that one...

klippermate is good for a 2 point machine, u shud consider getting that

I thought the Gamma X-2 would be better than the Klippermate. It has a ratcheting string gripper. Am I wrong?

You may want to ask them (i.e., Gamma) whether they have special adapters for mounting badminton racquets on the X2.

I don't this particular machine very well. However, for 2 point mounting machine from reputable manufactures (i.e. klipper), they should be good enough for anything under 26 lb. Peronally, I am using M140 for over 300-400 rackets already, did not break anything yet. ;)

What about the M140 do you think is better than the X-2? I thought the ratcheting string gripper would have been a big plus for the X-2? Isn't Gamma a reputable manufacture? Thanks

I've done some more research and I'm also considering some of the machines from Eagnas. I've read all about the less than stellar service from Eagnas but the prices are very attractive. The ones that I'm considering are:

Personally, I never tried the X2, so, i can't make a comparison. I can only say, M140 is a good machine for its price, and as long as u don everything right, under 26lb should be no problem at all. One suggestion is to get at least 2 more flying clamps (i.e. yonex, hiqua, etc).

The ratcheting string gripper is a nice feature (although i never tried it), and sounds like it can save some stringing time. However, I believe there are much more important factors (i.e. mounting) way ahead of "time saving" features. ;)
