View Full Version : The newest World Team Ranking
cxytdn 02-03-2006, 08:59 AM This ranking is based on the Ranking points of the 3 highest ranked singles players and the 2 highest ranked doubles pairs of each Association, ranked on the Feb. 2 2006 individual World Ranking lists. Even if an Association has only two or one players or pairs ranked on the individual World Ranking list, the team of that Association is still ranked. Players non eligible to represent their Association are not taken into consideration.
To set up the team ranking list, each team is opposed to all the other teams in a computer simulation (round-robin), using the T&UC system. In each team the players and pairs are placed in ranking order. 2 points are awarded to the winning team of each of these matches, the losing team getting 0 points. When there is a tie, which may happen when players of opposing teams have the same Ranking, each of these teams receives 1 point. The final ranking order is determined by the total number of points earned by each of the teams.
A virtual match won would give the team 2 points, a tie would give 1 point and a loss does not earn the team any points. The total number of points gained by a team determines their Team Ranking. :D
cxytdn 02-03-2006, 09:02 AM Just top 40 of men and women's team.

Wong8Egg 02-04-2006, 12:02 AM what does "NUM" means?
and to my surprise that Canada is ranked higher than the state
GunBlade008 02-04-2006, 12:08 AM Canada has ranked players?
BinBin007911 02-04-2006, 12:57 AM how do u count?? can u teach us how to calculate?? and what is the formulae
10s...
cxytdn 02-04-2006, 12:58 AM "NUM" means "number", namely the number of players of the associasion entering world ranking. If WR is "999", it means this pair is from different associations.

er...... i wan to know ur formularies :D :D :D
cxytdn 02-05-2006, 03:45 AM 1. These pairs who came from different association are not taken into consideration anymore (e.g. you can see some pairs have ranking but their points are not added up to their own team - blank in stead of "0"). There are 6 pairs XD, 2 pairs WD and 4 pairs MD are made up of players from different association:cool:
2. fixed up some "bugs" :p
BinBin007911 02-05-2006, 07:13 AM i got some idea now, but i still don know how u get the team point 156, 154, 152,150, 148...................................

The easiest and simples also more realistic way is just add up 3 of the higher singles player of one country and 2 of the country doubles. Pretty much the result will came out as the table above.
Example for Uber team:
China: Rank single 1 + single 2 + single 3 + double 1 + double2
So the result is : 1+2+17+1+2 = 23
This 23 number is the highest of any of Uber team. Then Japan had total of 48 points. So it will only right when in Uber Cup they will seeded 1 and 2.
Of course this ranking is not final yet cause we still had 3 more months and several events before the final Uber match in Japan. But I doubt any countries can catch up to them in this few months.

No.
The correct way is:
1):
Chnese 1st WS vs. Japanese 1st WS, then see who is the winner.
Chnese 2nd WS vs. Japanese 2nd WS, then see who is the winner.
Chnese 3rd WS vs. Japanese 3rd WS, then see who is the winner.
Chnese 1st WD vs. Japanese 1st WD, then see who are the winner.
Chnese 2nd WD vs. Japanese 2nd WD, then see who are the winner.
2):
The winning team is given 2 points. When there is a tie, which may happen when players of opposing teams have the same Ranking, each of these teams receives 1 point. The lost team gets 0 point.

seven 02-08-2006, 03:22 AM cxytdn, as I said in your other thread (mixed teams), Arif Rasidi isn't elligible to represent France, so this means France is currently overrated in your calculation.
cxytdn 02-08-2006, 08:31 AM Thanks.
I corrected it. And now France Men's Team is the 16th with Singapore's, what's more, France Women's and Mixed Team (with Netherlands) are also the 16 place in Team Ranking!
