Thomas & Uber Cup Preliminaries 2006

The Asian Badminton Confederation (ABC) secretariat has confirmed that the draw making for Thomas & Uber Cup Asia Preliminaries 2006 will be held on the 7th February (Tuesday) at ABC secretariat conference room, Stadium Badminton Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at 1100hrs.

All ABC member associations, embassy respresentatives, officials from corporate companies and members of the press are welcome to witness the draw.

Below are the teams participations:



13 countries for Thomas Cup


Hong Kong China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Vietnam.


11 countries for Uber Cups

Hong Kong China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, Chinese Taipei.

The exact dates for the event is from 15th to 19th February in Jaipur, India. The submission dateline for entries by players names is on the 26th January & the seeding will be based on IBF world rank of 19th January.

New Zealand win both Thomas & Uber Cup prelims!!!

New Zealand have won both the Men's Thomas Cup and Women's Uber Cup Oceania Prelims in Auckland last night, both NZ teams now qualify for the Thomas & Uber Cup finals in Japan in May.

In the Men's Thomas Cup New Zealand defeated Australia 4-1 and Fiji defeated Samoa 5-0.

While in the Women's Uber Cup New Zealand defeated Samoa 5-0 and Australia defeated Fiji 5-0.
