hey Zhang,

Sorry to say this but there are no specific courts for foreigners specifically as far as I know. Yes there are courts/clubs that would be willing to take you in as a member on payment and you can enjoy the game of baddy.

I have added a list of courts within my knowledge and some other esteemed friends have added their list of clubs, which I wasnt aware of some of the clubs. So you can choose from the list and do make it a point to post ur reply once u find a club for urself. As that would help other interested players to collaborate and join the club so as to form a group.

you can look out for membership in gachibowli indoor stadium, gopichand badminton academy & if jubilee hills is close to you, then u can try filmnagar club.

Gachibowli Gopichand academy would be the safest bet.You could go there and play on an hourly basis.It is INR200 for an hour.

There is a badminton court in sports complex Shaikpet which is 3-4 Km form Tolichowki.

There are 2 badminton courts (indoor with wooden flr) in Vijaynagar Colony (MCH Sports Complex). However, it's fairly crowded so will have to check availability. One might have to be persistent to get a slot. I play in the mornings about 3 times a week.

Directions - Go inside lane opposite Andhra Bank (across the road from bank) in Vijaynagar Colony; take first right turn and then first left turn.

You have a couple of places around Madhapur. You can try at Jaybhery county, they have some good courts though I am not sure about the procedure to get in there. You can any time play at the Gopichand Academy. They charge 200 Rs./court/hour. That is where I am playing currently.

I've been playing at the Gachibowli Stadium regularly for about 6 months now. A membership is required to play. For getting said membership, there's a one-time non-refundable registration fee of Rs. 1000 and for every month (including the first) you need to pay Rs. 1000. So, it costs like 2000 for the first month and 1000 from the next month onward.

The stadium is superbly constructed and is truly breathtaking -- no wonder it was chosen to host the 2009 Badminton World Championships. Playing on the same courts where players like Lin Dan and Saina Nehwal played is an awesome feeling. Speaking of courts, there is a provision for a total of 10 courts (6 wooden + 4 synthetic) in there but right now only 6 courts (4 wooden + 2 synthetic) are provided with nets. Play timings are from 6AM to 9AM and 5PM to 8PM. The coach, Mr. Kiran, is a really nice guy and coaches kids and adults for an extra fee. For those who are interested, there's a swimming pool nearby where swimming lessons are offered.

I'm 32 and have never touched a badminton racket in my life. Looking for a solid coach to provide 2hrs instruction a week at a court in and around HITEC (e.g. Gopichand, Gachibowli, etc.).

I am taking up badminton as my sports club back home in Nepal is starting a badminton development program, so I want to be more familiar with the game. Ideally, I would love to have a coach who is also very familiar with badminton youth development, but it's certainly not a requirement.

Good article how come I missed out.....silly me. Definitely worth needs a mention......but as far as my knowledge goes.......goverdhan was the coach who pillared her, though Mehboob Ali might be the one who laid a good foundation for her.

though saina does not take the lead to atleast thank them even in the wildest of her dreams.....there is no harm in mentioning the mentors and acknowledge their efforts. Atleast thats the least she can do for her being in this stature of what she is today.

Are there any indoor stadiums for badminton near manikonda.

I know gopichand academy and gachibowli stadiums are there but gopichand academy is too costlier and in gachibowli stadium they did not got a coach so, might be in the month of 'may' they may open but not sure.

i am looking from a radius of 5- 10 kilometers from manikonda.

I am new to this city and have been going to Gopichand Academy every weekend. As said by Chikki n brijesh..gachibowli idiots have held the whole place closed just cuz they dont have a coach. I inquired about a month ago...and dont have the latest status.

I stay in Madhapur. I am looking for partners to play either in Gopicand academy or yousufguda stadium ,,,,both of which are nearest to my place. Better still, if anybody can accommodate me in Jaybheri Silicon county courts ..nothing like it!

I am an intermediate-advanced player and am keen on taking my game to the next level. I personally believe that we should really practice for the first 30 mins or so and only then we should play matches. We generally get into playing matches which does hardly any good to our skills and shot execution.

Hoping to find some enthusiastic partners!!

The gachibowli stadium pics look awesome but it is too far from A.S Rao nagar and Sainikpuri.
Does anyone know of indoor courts near Sainikpuri or A.S Rao Nagar or ECIL? I have read about the court in Neredmet but I hear it only has 1 court and it is over crowded.

Hello All - I have gone through these thread patiently and one thing that comes distinctly in all these posts is the lack of badminton courts in Hyderabad and I might have an answer to most of you.

I'm currently toying up with an idea of building some indoor badminton courts ( say 2 -4 courts to start with) in KPHB,Sardar Patel Nagar Colony ( next to JNTU University,NizamPet Road) which I would like to rent it out for all enthusiastic badminton players on a monthly basis.It is here that I might need help from all you folks and any suggestions to improve the badminton playing experience worthy I would like them to hear from you folks.

For eg : What kind of facilities are you expecting in terms of courts ? I'm currently planning synthetic courts of the highest quality since wooden courts are very expensive to start with.

What is the monthly fee folks here are ready to shell out ? I'm ready to have the courts available until 9 PM in the evening with proper lighting facilities so that folks coming from offices can also de-stress themselves on the courts.Preferable timing Morn 6 - 9 Am and evening 4-9 PM.

What are the other amenities would you be looking for apart from the playing courts ? eg. Juice Bar,Shower Rooms,Locker rooms etc.. Extra Amenities means extra cost so the question is how many of you are ready to shell out extra money.

I would appreciate if you guys can give me your suggestions for the questions that I have posed for and also for the ones that I might not have which would help me decide whether my idea of setting up play courts is worthwhile or not .I shouldn't end up in losses later.Please send me your responses @pankaj.chinnakotla@gmail.com

Hi Guys,

After 3 months long fight, I got the morning slot (8-9) in Chanda Nagar Indoor Stadium. Chanda Nagar stadium is near to the Chanda Nagar railway station.This one is wooden court with good lighting systems.Not much space as the neighbour courts shuttles keep disturbing. It has got 5 courts.There is a coach here but I dont have his details.Every monday is holiday. 9th of every month they register for new slots. If you are lucky enough , you can get a slot . but past 2 months all the existing members are renewing it so there are no new open slots available now. Its crowded now as they alot 8 members per court. People are really crazy about badminton as I saw the queue on last month 9th .There were >100 people waiting from early morning 5 to get a slot. Coach comes at 8 am and finally says there are new open slots. :)...Due to power problem, I heard that they are closing the evening batches.....very sad....

Do any one had contacted SAI, L.B. Stadium officials on gachibowli stadium.

They have closed and it’s about one year and the reason for closure is they are unable find any coach.

The interesting things are:

Gopi chand academy runs house full - all shows(in week ends you wont get slot if you arrive late and they charge 300 RS/ hr )
It’s around .5 kms from Gopi chand academy – Gachibowli stadium.
GHMC Chanda nagar which started later has found coach
IN AP we are lacking badminton coaches.
I wonder even Media (9TV… TOI) has also blind eyes.
