Hi everyone :
I am going to HK this week and interested in buying badminton stuff , ie racquets, shuttle etc . can anyone of you give me suggestions of where i can get them in terms of good price and good quality.

Also, if someone can tell me the places ( gym, club or recreational community) for playing badminton during april.

Thank you for the response. :)

This is what Ricky provided. I searched these and cut and paste these together. Ricky is a good source. He knows a lot of the shops. Enjoy. :)

(1) Luxis Sportnet - 1/F, 41 Parkes Street, Jordan (24250767), you can say that you are net friend of Ricky/Cheung in order to get more discount. -
(2) Emmy Sports - 2/F, Sin Tat Plz, Argyle Street, Mongkok (23982202)

(3) Rose Sports Goods & Sports Clothing Co - Kam Wong Bldg, near the cross of Shantung Street and Fa Yuen Street, Mongkok (27811809 / 27811601)

Please note that the price difference should be minimal.

Luxis :
(1) has CN racquets shown, and you can feel free to put it on hand to try
(2) they have Mizuno Mystic Power racquets and a lot of Mizuno stuffs imported from Japan

Emmy :
(1) If you are die heart Yonex friends, you should go to this place.
(2) A lot of Yonex products imported from Japan, e.g. BG95, BG75 Ti, etc.

Rose - probably the cheapest list price, but don't expect to have good service.

If you want to string your racquet, my recommendation is (1) Luxis, (2) Emmy. Don't string at Rose, especially if you want high tension.

There are some clubs here which you may join their regular session as guest. Unfortunately I don't belong to any of these clubs, perhaps Cheung can help by providing more information.

Besides playing with my friends on Sunday, I play with two different coaches on Tuesday and Friday evening respectively. The session on Friday allows guests to join (HK$140 for 2 to 3 hours) - we usually play mixed double after training (there are several ladies there), however all of us are just intermediate level players (none of us play in even local tournament). Of course, the exception is our coach, he likes to play with many different people - if you are very good and want to find some opponent here, Cheung and him are two guys I can recommend.

Apologies, I am unavailable this w/end. The group finals of the league will be held this w/end. Apparently the teams are very tough. If you want to watch, I'll be there on Sat 6pm onwards and Sun 1pm onwards. Matches probably starting 30 mins later. I represent Tai Po.
Location is Sha Tin, I think the sports complex is called Wo Che. It's very close to Shatin town Hall. There's also a swimming pool next door.

Good luck. I probably cannot go on these time slots (there may have some chances to go on Saturday, but definitely not on Sunday).

Btw, what games are you going to play ? Men's single ?

Greetings,

Just wanted to make sure I posted my update in the main HK shops discussion. SHort story Emmy Sports is a small shop where the boss whole attidude changes once you want to bargain. Prices for my MP 88 were nothing special either. Will definitely try out another shop in future.

I just went to Rose. I think their service is decent. Nothing wrong with it. I was looking at some rackets through the window and a staff came up to me and helped me. She asked me about my game (single or doubles) and style, and then she made some recommendations. I then tried on some shoes. Everything was fine.
BTW, I bought a racket from them. I never heard of the brand; it's JSPEE (i think it's from Taiwan). It felt good though (I haven't played with it yet; I'll let you guys know later). I couldn't really find much on the internet except one in Indonesia's badminton discussion forum (unfortunately, the discussion wasn't about that brand).

The model number is 88000; I believe it is a different version of Yonex 900 Technique (which I like but the head is heavier than I like but this racket's weight distribution seems to be closer to my liking). I couldn't really find much on the internet except one in Indonesia's badminton discussion forum (unfortunately, the discussion wasn't about that brand). Anyone knows about this brand?

I went to Rose a few times and the service was good, even managed to get a free overwrap for buying a badminton racket. They also do restring very efficiently, basically order my racket in around noon and got it strung in the evening. it's really cool. I guess the service must have improved :)

Hey yeeyee, I would like to ask for an average range of prices, if you recall, for Yonex rackets such as the MP100, MP99, NS9900, ARC7/10, or AT900? Thank you very much.

are those shops still there?

I'll be back in HK in July for a few days then heading to China, since Im not bringing my badminton gear, i need to stock up on my regular equipment

from the HK members here, which shops carry the largest Yonex range/size for clothing/shoes/rackets with prices around the lower end?

also i need to buy some shuttlecocks both for play and prolly a box to ship back to Canada, any recommendations? i usually play with RSL classic tourney but anything similar is fine as long as the price is right ^^

I'm afraid i dont recall the price for those rackets you mention because i was only interested in the ArcSaber 9 for women.. hehe. Anyway, the rackets you buy from HK will definately be cheaper than UK, but I'm not sure about how it compares to the U.S or canada :)

I visited Hong Kong in September 2010. I needed to buy rackets and Yonex Badminton shoes. I visited Mister Keen Sports Company in Aberdeen and they were able to cater to all my requirements.

Not only that the prices were reasonable compared to the costs of Badminton material in Hong Kong but also they provided excellent service. The racket gutting was done without delay and also they were quite knowledgeable about the game and were able to provide useful advice when selecting items.:)
