View Full Version : China Masters 2006: Final
badMania 03-11-2006, 09:22 AM MEN'S SINGLES
Peter Gade vs Chen Jin
-- A great victory for Peter....beating Lin Dan in front of the home crowd! I think he should win tomorrow, although Chen Jin is no pushovers after another straight-set win against Kenneth Jonassen tonight.
WOMEN'S SINGLES
Wang Lin vs Xie Xingfang
-- Wang Lin continues her impressive rise in the women's singles hierachy but the experienced Xie Xingfang will probably win, unless of course there is a team order
MEN'S DOUBLES
Jens Eriksen/Martin Lundgaard Hansen vs Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun
-- both pairs are on form...esp Fu/Cai! If Eriksen/Hansen start to attack from the very beginning, they might win. A victory for them will also be important because they are likely to meet in the Thomas Cup Finals. Hopefully, it won't be over in 20 mins just like today's.
WOMEN'S DOUBLES
Wei Yili/Zhang Yawen vs Gao Ling/Huang Sui
-- probably the least interesting match tomorrow and again, Gao/Huang should win.
MIXED DOUBLES
Zhang Jun/Gao Ling vs Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen
-- can the young pair topple their senior and confirm their status as possible the no 1 pair in China's mixed doubles? I think they can!
zzz... 03-11-2006, 10:14 AM Really hope Peter Gade and Eriksen/Hansen will win. Otherwise China will have a clean sweep.

hcpoirot 03-11-2006, 01:16 PM MEN'S SINGLES
Peter Gade vs Chen Jin
Peter had a 53:47 win over CJ. But CJ look like in top form. Winning 2 sets against Hafiz and KJ in tight score. Its official now that CJ is the most improving new player in one year. PG had to watch out his stamina. He already fight a long2 and exhausting match against LD.
WOMEN'S SINGLES
Wang Lin vs Xie Xingfang
The best chance for Wang Lin to seal her spot in Uber Team Cup. If she win, she will play Uber Cup with XXF and ZN.
MEN'S DOUBLES
Jens Eriksen/Martin Lundgaard Hansen vs Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun
Again very inetresting match. But I think Cai?Fu will win based on their quickness and smash.
WOMEN'S DOUBLES
Wei Yili/Zhang Yawen vs Gao Ling/Huang Sui
Easy pick.
MIXED DOUBLES
Zhang Jun/Gao Ling vs Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen
The last time Zhang/Gao win in China master final against Xie/Zhang. This time it will be different.:)
yannie 03-11-2006, 03:48 PM Hope Chen Jin wins:D !!!! nd Fu nd Cai:D
hehe!!!
I agree 100000000000% :D :D :D
Eurasian =--(O) 03-11-2006, 04:37 PM wow! really didn't expect PG to take it. IMO if PG plays as well as he did against Lin Dan yesterday he should win against CJ. Although b/c the final is in China CJ should have an edge... should be a great game although I think experience will decide the winner tonight.
Great to chear Peter Gade won! :) I'm sure he will win the Finals. But Chen Jin is improving.. not an easy task to pass thru.

It could well be over in 20 minutes. Martin Lundgaard has been ill before this tournament, and hasn't recovered fully. OK, they made it to the final, but it is obvious that they been struggling against pairs that they normally just brush off. I am fearing that unless they wake up, the MD final could become something of an anti-climax...
I hope China will not have a clean sweep.
pauline 03-11-2006, 07:44 PM hope Gade will take the title....
kemana 03-11-2006, 08:40 PM can anyone confirm the time the finals will start???!?

jeyel 03-11-2006, 08:46 PM hope Gade will take the title....
After yesterday's good performance against LD, Gade certainly looks the favourite, but I'm gonna be rooting for the underdog Chen Jin!;)

good, only ~2 hrs from now.
fishnet wen*yi 03-11-2006, 09:16 PM same here. hope peter will win... tired of watching china make clean or almost clean sweeps. nice if got more 'variety' in winners. :D. besides, peter really deserves the title this time.
Will CCTV 5 show the games?
red00ecstrat 03-11-2006, 09:26 PM hope Gade will take the title....
yep. gade should be alright ! (sorry yannie!:p ) last time they met. gade was really giving cj a hard time!
at the same time. i guess gade will have an advantage in the new scoring system because of a shorter playing time.;)

HOw do you continue with bloody nose, do you still go full assault?
Wai Shing 03-11-2006, 11:48 PM Haha, and Punch gunalan said there would be less injuries in 21pt system:D
I don't consider bloody nose as injury, I think he had too much "Zing Seng" :D Pretty good games so far.

Wang Lin has a very relaxed style. or is it a bit TOO relaxed?!?
but yet. she has this slight smile in her. kinda like telling everybody that she knows exactly what she is doing and in complete control... wah. playing with my mind already...

xxf looks a bit tired
just a quick thought...
for the 3 new comers, Wang Lin, Jiang Yanjao and Lu Lan. all of them have different playing styles. unlike Zhang Ning / XXF, who plays exactly the same style. the next few years in WS will be very intersting to watch.

Wang Lin pace control/variation is amazing. she can look completely relaxed and then suddenly accelarate and kill a mid-court, all done like if she is just taking a stroll in the park.

much more cunning and techniques much more refined than Zhang Ning. her strokes are very difficult to read as they all look so gentle and light. even when she smash, it doesn't look like she needs much force.
totally agree, this girl will be in 2008, probably along side Xie, not sure about Zhang Ning, the 3rd girl (if there is one) will be picked from whomever is left.

yannie must be super happy now!;)
TrunkZ69 03-12-2006, 02:46 AM I think Peter was a bit defensive and reactive, Chen Jin's constant attacks were too much for him tonight. I thought Chen Jin looked great. He had that drive/motivation of a fresh youngster in him.
peter didnt play bad, chen jin unleash his speed and power at the right moment
he was clearly not playing his game. He seems nervous. Maybe too tired after his battle agains't Lin Dan.
Wang Lin just got a new fan. Her game was good. Next superstar in the making. Her ranking will shoot up after this event.
badders2006 03-12-2006, 02:51 AM nervous? i dont think so - having beaten lindan he must hav thought its in da bag..dis youngster who hes beaten before wasnt goin 2 worry him..fact is gade was outplayed - i agree with trunkZ69 n cooler - chenjin simply too fast wit d drive of a youngster. if only lindan played with the vigour chen jin showed! anyway china wins!! :D
s239rt 03-12-2006, 02:54 AM can't believe the pros are playing at such a BAD enviroment. I mean, look at the whole match for MS... the wind is blowing heavily from camera right to left. it is SO big that a shot from gade was curving back into the court... and I notice most shots down to the left side got pushed down more, and the shots are faster... notice especially Chen jin took this as an advantage? haha. I think peter wasn't excited at all. of course Chen played an excellent game. but I think from the way peter looked, he wasn't eager enough to win. I guess it was due to the fact that he beat LD yesterday and since IMO he made winning LD his biggest goal at this tournament(read a chinese news somewhere during an interview with gade, he wanted to play LD very badly), he basically physically and mentally gave it all out for LD's game. I mean normally if peter is fresh he should be able to last more than 2 games while maintaining his regular speed and agilty. However, after couple points of the second game, he was already a goner. Anyhow, good job for both chen and gade tonight, really wasn't expecting his victory over LD in CHINA!!!.

Yi Ying 03-12-2006, 02:57 AM I thought Chen Jin was great! Gade's speed and agility could not match his and he made Gade run everywhere with his shots.. I really see a new World Champion in making..:D By the way, I'm ying ying last time.. XP Sorry my com broke down and I had to repair it.:crying:

Is funny that we usually think it's anti-climate to have Chinese vs Chinese in the Final but the XDF and WSF were so well and fiercefully played, stretched into rubber sets while the MSF and MDF were done in straight sets. Quite dissapointed with the MDF but MSF was pretty good until the bad call in game 1 when the score was at 20-19, what a big blow to Peter. Chen Jin did win game 2 with his power and speed and showed us that speed and power can overcome the inexperience and skill.

cooler 03-12-2006, 02:20 PM both chen jin and wang lin were just juniors last years and they both took china master crown yesterday. Wang lin even took down chinese 2 top dogs personally. Very impressive. Chen jin beat PG which beat LD is also impressive.
Baderz_Jas 03-12-2006, 04:12 PM YEAH!!! WELL DONE to Chen Jin:D :D unlucky to Feng Yun nd WELL DONE to Xie ZhongBo/Zhang Yawen!!!:D :D hehehe!!! Unlucky for LIN DAN:crying: :crying:
hcpoirot 03-12-2006, 04:19 PM Its really unfair to call CJ only had a so so skill. (You know who you are)
Chen Jin had improved so much this past year. If he had only speed and no skill, he will not won this China Master crown all by 2 sets.
From QF to final, all his opponents were in Top 10 ranking, Hafiz, Kenneth and Peter.
In 21 new scoring system, it will be pretty useless if you only had speed and no skill cause you will made lots of mistake with so so skill and lost lots of points.
I had to admit that CJ is already a top 10 material or top 5 if he kept his consistency.
If you look at his results last year when he started play international events, he only reach R32 or R16. But so far this year, he had already 2 titles, German Open and China Master.
Even lots of top 10 players who had play for years only had 1 or 2 titles or none at all.
If his skill only so so like lots of top 20 rank, can he achieve all of this based on speed and only luck by beating lots of Top 10 players?
serviceover 03-12-2006, 04:19 PM Can anyone tell me where i can get a results list from?

BADMINTON: Young guns in charge at China Masters
BEIJING: China’s Chen Jin and Wang Lin struck blows for youth by claiming the men’s and women’s singles titles at the China Masters in Chengdu on Sunday. Teenager Wang provided the biggest surprise of the tournament by coming from a set down to beat second seed Xie Xingfang 15-21, 21-13, 21-15 in the women’s final.
The 17 year old also came from behind to beat another of China’s best players, world number one Zhang Nin, in the quarter-finals and Wang Chen of Hong Kong in the semis. “I am pleased to win, but I still have much to improve,” Wang told state news agency Xinhua. Denmark’s Peter Gade thought he had done the hard work by knocking out China’s world number one Lin Dan to reach the men’s singles final but found world junior champion Chen too strong on Sunday. The 20 year old triumphed 21-19, 21-14 to gain revenge for his quarter-final defeat at the hands of the Danish world number four at the All England championships in January. “We met once before and I lost, so I prepared well this time,” Chen told Xinhua.
Gade, 30, had been hoping for a title in Sichuan to give his country a boost ahead of the Thomas Cup, the international team competition being held in Japan next month where China will be defending champions. Only the 21-17, 21-17 victory of his compatriots Jens Eriksen and Martin Lundgaard Hansen over Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng in the men’s doubles final prevented a home sweep of the five titles up for grabs at the five-day tournament. Xie Zhongbo and Zhang Yawen won the mixed doubles title with a 21-16, 10-21, 22-20 victory over Olympic champions and top seeds Zhang Jun and Gao Ling. The women’s doubles final was also an all-Chinese affair, second seeds Gao Ling and Huang Sui beating Wei Yili and Zhang Yawen 21-12, 18-21, 21-14. Reuters
cooler 03-12-2006, 09:52 PM just curious, how come young players like chen jin and wang lin can enter a 'Master' tournament? Is there an minimum age to enter a 'Master'?
alloh 03-12-2006, 10:04 PM Poor line judgments in China!!!!
I have watched it live during WS semi-final, XXF - Mia Audina. The shuttle was very clearly out, but the line judger said in. Not only once, but few times.
And in the MS final. The game point from CJ, and the shuttle I should say it was in from the return of PG. But the line judger said out.
WTF.... !!! well, it's true what Mia Audina said to the media. In China, they won't let you win over Chinese players.
Not only in this China Master 2006, but the other matches in China.
China really suxkz ...
cxytdn 03-12-2006, 10:25 PM China or just some liners? Anyway, bad liners are in anywhere, e.g. Malalsia.

Could it be that you must be Master of craft, ie skills only? In that sense, Chen Jin may qualify since he has proven a few times at world meets but what of little known Wang Lin???
indra 03-13-2006, 02:10 AM Chen Jin's skill is so-so, but his speed and power plus pure aggression are pretty impressive. Would be interesting to see him play Chong Wei and Taufik...
In my opinion, chen Jin style of play is so-so. I don't think it will be interesting watching Chen Jin vs LCW or CJ vs Taufik.
Chen Jin's recent victories were achieved in the absence of Taufik, LCW and other top players. Gade's victory over Lin Dan shall serve as a serious warning that the Chinese TC team is not as strong as the myth has said.:D
I agree that CJ is a rising star when the "real star(s)" does/do not participate:cool: .
This time Chen Jin needs to prove by winning international tourneys.

Syaoran_Style 03-14-2006, 03:43 PM yeaah I agree with cxytdn .. it's true that cheater linejudge is everywhere . but in the match btw XXF and Mia .. i was soo shocked ! Mia was soo angry, she even screamed at Xingfang .. i don't know why they are doing that =/ i agree with mia , In china they won't let you win against a chinese player :( :(
Remember Wang Chen during the 10th china games , she cried in front of the journalist. PG against chen jin etc etc ...
That's defenitely not a good advertissement for badminton around the world ..
hydrocyanic 03-14-2006, 04:53 PM got to agree on the first game chen Jin vs. peter gade
they didn't even bothered to replay the shot
shameful indeed... even as a chinese myself
but guess what, thats POLITICS, it doesn't just happen in china either, while i agree that western countries have a "higher" moral in these regard, but thats all we can do, whine whine whine, nothing is going to change unless when we all under the same roof(no, not bush, we don't live on grass :P )
Slugs 03-15-2006, 07:45 AM So even CCTV-5 is biased!
bchaiyow 03-15-2006, 10:45 AM MS/MD Final - wind problem???
Is it me, or am I noticing(from players and birdies) that there's wind problem...In the MD, I think the danish pair complained about wind problem. Then, just before Gade got the 11th point in game 2, it seems like the bird he hit was going out, then I kinda notice the bird going sideway back into the court?! Or is this some kind of slice shot I havent learnt yet?
bchaiyow

Chen Jin should face Wong CH in the Thomas Cup as third single if China meet Malaysia. Chen Jin beat Wong CH in China Open QF but lost to Wong CH in Danish Open QF. Who will be the winner in Japan ?

There is no use to argue anymore.... just forget it~!
Becareful, There are some people will attack you if you talk about the bad linesman of thier country.
We all know that this is no good to promote badminton. Hope there will be a better solution for such arguement calls.
I believe all of us supporting this sport and also hope it could be a one of the top sports one day.
