View Full Version : warning to string shoppers
Akirika 03-11-2006, 05:33 PM DO NOT GO TO BROWNS SPORTS FOR YOUR RESTRING NEEDS. i went to them today. ask them to restring my racket with bg 80. i also told them 1 of my grommets is missings and needs to be replaced. they happily agreed to my request. when i went and picked up my racket i see they failed to replace my grommet so the string may snap any minute. they also twisted my racket face frame due to uneven tension. so tommorow im going back there and getting my money back. any1 can provide me with good arguments?
the point of the story is BROWNS SPORTS = noob stringers
Akirika 03-11-2006, 08:41 PM well ive been thinking, what exactly caused the warping of the racket head? and also do you think they would restring with grommet for free?

just out of curiosity, what racket is that? and what tension did you requested for?
__Lam 03-11-2006, 10:45 PM how can they not notice a missing grommet while stringing? go demand a restring and replacement of the grommet.

Wow, you live in paris and you know what is happening in Canada? Impressive. And yes, Yo's is very good. so is Lee's and Mandarin. Both guy and girl at Yo's are great stringers, as they do it for a profession. Same goes to Lee's and Mandarin, as they string often for their own players.
Akirika 03-12-2006, 02:01 PM guess what, i went to browns this afternoon demending a restring with grommet. they refuse to do so. they also blame the warping of the racket on my part. saying i could have purposely done it. what kind of bs service is this. this ordeal costs me 45 CND and i get this crap.
lesson for all, take a pic of your racket from all angles before giving to stringer.

GunBlade008 03-12-2006, 05:26 PM Brown's is a pathetic place with pathetic people running it. Why didn't you complain about the racquet when you got it? Anyways, I suggest you seek legal advice on how to deal with this, you just can't talk or reason to the owners there, they're asses, so you got to deal with this matter in a different way.
Akirika 03-12-2006, 05:29 PM the thing, i parked my car on the street nearby. so i had to hurry back before it gets towed. he handed me the racket in the bag so i just took the bag and hurried back to my car and drove off.
GunBlade008 03-12-2006, 05:57 PM I see, well take pics of it now, and consult someone on this matter...this is truly sad for an 'experienced' stringer...

Dave18 03-13-2006, 11:15 AM Lol. Browns is expensive for stringing. My last few experience there wasn't too bad though. They stringed my racquet pretty good. When you string, maybe you should have waited for it for the same day. Maybe he just forgot to put the grommet in. :p Oh well.
So what are you going to do now?
You should have been fierce and yelled at them.
disney.babies 04-11-2006, 03:36 PM where is brown? i onli know of 2 baddy stores in toronto = lees and yos...
aZn_Popcorn 04-12-2006, 11:16 PM Brown's Sports is right across jane station
mizu25 05-10-2006, 11:59 PM I once got my racquet strung at Brown's and they made a small crack on the racquet head, probably with a clamp or something. I couldn't do anything about it because it wasn't me who took it in for stringing. That was probably the worst $40 I've ever spent on badminton.
zach1234 05-11-2006, 06:01 AM I originally didn't have any problems with Browns - until i got it properly strung with the 4-knot (2 peice) method (they use 2-knot, 1 peice). I now realized how dead my strings were when browns strung them, after playing with my newly strung racquets. They never damaged my racquets (that I know of at least) - but solely from the performance of the racquets, I will never go back there for stringing again.
