What is Swiss Fomat?

Uh... did a search but nothing came up... even tho I did find a few interesting threads with regards to swiss open :p

but anyway, wondering if anyone's ever heard this... going to a Tournament hosted by SFUBC and they said this would be the format... so... wondering what this is.

Maybe they said swiss ladder? This is a tournament where the draw is new for every round you play. The put up a draw for the first round and after all the matches are played they rank the players for the second round. The 2 with the best result in the first round meet each other, the 2 with the worst result meet each other etc etc And the same is done for every round.
This is to ensure that you after the first round only meet players that are on your own level of play

Oh Thanks! Im sure they said Swiss Format but I guess this is prolly what they meant.

Upon reading the explainations... I realized where I've heard it from Chess a long time ago when I used to play.
