Hello all,
I'm in need of a litle assistance. I've not played not for about 3 years and not seriously for even longer, maybe 6 years. So I'am a little outside the current flow of racquets.

The reason for this post is that I'm looking to get back to some hitting for fun and fitness once a week, and I need the advice of fellow forum users.

The raquet I had the most success with (in terms of preformance and breakages) was a Carlton frame called the Powerflo BR. I had the original orange grey model, the first generation, and the third as well, I did used the 2nd but the shaft/ferrull junction was very abrupt and they would break here.

I'm hoping someone will remeber this frame and be able to point me in the right direction to find something similar. The main hassle is I'm in Australia and the variety of frames out here is very limited.

If your intention is just to play for fun once a week I would just go into a sports shop, swing a few rackets around and decide which is most comfortable for you.

If you still have your old racket you could consider just getting that restrung. Rackets haven't really got much lighter in the last few year if that helps. If you decide you wnt to join a club and start playing seriously again, then that's when I would consider a new racket.

Hope it goes well!

Thanks Crosscourt,

I currenlty have a kawaski Tour 190 Ti, which i found 2nd hand, however I have a habit of breaking frame due to my swing (my follow through stops not far after contact whipping the frame). This has caused many a frame (12 in 1 year when I was competeing) to break, nearly all in the lower half of the shaft.

The Powerflo frames were the only frames I didnt have this trouble, everthing since has been a problem. I intend now to not so much play comp/tournaments again as I used to, but rather just to train for fitness and enjoy the game again. Even after all this time I still love playing. I saw some treads on training racquets here and if I could get a couple of those around the 130 gram mark I could be ok.

Other than that I like a very stiff frame (the powerfol's were true 1 piece with the grip applied directly over the base of the shaft) but have yet to find anything like it.

Dink, we need yr experties here,
we've find another monster level member that brutally
murdered 12 rackets a year just by swinging them.
