View Full Version : String for ncode 4 bmintongbury 03-26-2006, 03:54 PM I have an unstrung Wilson nCode 4, i was wondering what kind of string and what tension I should get? Thanks. jayes 03-27-2006, 08:49 AM It is pretty hard to recommend you what string and tension since I do not know your playing level. Here are my suggestions: As to which string to use, it depends on your budget. In general, I would go with Ashaway strings since they are much cheaper than Yonex strings. If you can't get Ashaway strings in your local area or other internet sites, you may PM me. As to durability, it all depends on the gauge of the string, what tension you use, do you mishit a lot or not, etc. Here is what I mean: The thinner the string, the less durable it is. The higher the tension, the less durable it is. The more mishit you have, the less durable it is. Now on to your second question: what tension to use. If you are lacking power, ie having a hard time hitting the shuttle over the net, my suggestion is to use lower tension, oh say, between 12 to 16 lbs. CAVEAT: tension alone will not improve your play, you also need to improve on your technique! In general, tension between 16 - 20 lbs is good enough for recreational play. Do not be afraid to experiment with tension so that you will find a string tension that will work for you. HTH. LazyBuddy 03-27-2006, 10:27 AM Now on to your second question: what tension to use. If you are lacking power, ie having a hard time hitting the shuttle over the net, my suggestion is to use lower tension, oh say, between 12 to 16 lbs. Personally, I think tension like 12lb is way too low, even for recreation level. If durability is a big concern, a thick string (i.e. 0.75/0.80mm) @ 20lb should solve the problem already. ;) jayes 03-27-2006, 02:20 PM Personally, I think tension like 12lb is way too low, even for recreation level. I was very happy that they were elated; they were all smiles and became repeat customers! Cheers. :) bmintongbury 03-27-2006, 04:30 PM i have a lot of power, already broke my old ncode 3 so want it to be strong, maybe ill do the (i.e. 0.75/0.80mm) @ 20lb |
