They lost in 3 sets to the Malaysian World Junior Champion, Hoon Thien How/Tan Boon Heong 9-21, 21-18, 19-21. Probably the match of the day and very tight in the rubber game. Nevertheless, a good experience for both pairs who will probably be there in the top 10 in the near future.

Another scratch pair, Tan Bin Shen/Chew Choon Eng has also qualified to the main draw and is likely to face their compatriot Gan Teik Chai/Abdul Latif Mohd Zakry in the second round. The winner should entertain Luluk/Alvent in the quarter-final.
