Ageed with most except;
Chong/Lee - I don't think they will lose at home. Too experienced.
Chen Li to beat WMC
Lydia Cheah v Saina Nehwal- My match of the round. I am fascinated by this young Indian lass. Beating Li Li and Tracey Hallam so easily in the CG. She is perhaps the most talented young non-chinese female single player to emerge in a long time.
jesminekia 03-28-2006, 09:08 PM chong wei not playing meh???

who is chong wei's girlfriend?
Anybody can tell me
rwchen 03-28-2006, 09:34 PM The first round of XD matches had completed. The results are in http://bam.org.my:8080/abc2006/upload/results/xd.html
No upsets here except the more prominent Taiwanese pair, Cheng/Tsai lost to the Chinese Youngsters, He HB/Zhao YL
badMania 03-28-2006, 09:35 PM All seeds cruise to the 2nd round for XD. One upset though: the Chinese youngsters: He Hanbin/Zhao Yunlei beat Tsai Chia-Hsin/Cheng Wen-Hsing
MIXED DOUBLES ROUND 2
Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir vs V. Diju/Jwalla Gutta
Gan Teik Chai/Fong Chew Yen vs Shen Ye/Pan Pan -- could be a problem for the Malaysian
Songpol Anukritayawan/Kulchala Vorawichitchaikul vs Keita Masuda/Tomomi Matsuda
Devin Lahardi/Vita Marissa vs Zhang Wei/Yu Yang (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- tough first test for Devin/Vita, hope they will win!
Tran Thanh Hai/Le Ngoc Nguyen Nhung vs Mohd Rizal/Endang Nursugianti -- no problem for Rizal/Endang
Shintaro Ikeda/Satoko Suetsuna vs Hendri Saputra Kurniawan/Li Yujia
He Hanbin/Zhao Yunlei vs Anggun Nugroho/Yunita Tetty -- a tricky tie for the Indonesian no 2 pair, but, they should win!
Gong Weijie/Tian Qing vs Sudket Prapakamol/Saralee Thungthongkam -- by right, also no problem for the second seed.
hcyong 03-28-2006, 09:43 PM Chen Li vs Wong Meow Choo
Jun Jae Youn vs Yip Pui Yin -- Jun is a qualifier
Hendra Gunawan/Joko Riyadi vs Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- I am expecting an upset from Indonesia's no 4 pair
Any Chinese players cannot be overlooked. They are mysterious and often you don't know what to expect. So, I am not so confident of Wong MC winning, but I hope so.
It am fairly confident that Jun Jae Youn would have no problems against Yippy.
Choong/Lee would face some problems but I think they should prevail.
alloh 03-28-2006, 09:48 PM who is chong wei's girlfriend?
Anybody can tell me
Itu lu pun tak tau ka? itu pompuan Mew Choo lah. :D
gemini12 03-28-2006, 10:05 PM Lydia lost. feel that she need more exposure. Saina Nehwal and Lydia is the same age but Saina Game hv matured. She need to be sent for more tournament like this for exposure.

There is nothing to worry about really. It is very hard to tell with juniors. They can blossom at different times. Give it time. Don't pile pressure on the young ones.
hcyong 03-28-2006, 10:46 PM Quite a number of surprising results in the WS.
http://bam.org.my:8080/abc2006/upload/results/ws.html
Soratja bt Wang Yihan
Lee Yun Hwa bt Cheng Shao-Chieh
Pai Min Jie bt Salakjit Ponsana
Trupti Murgunde bt Xing Aiying (Indian players on fire)
Ng Ka Shun bt Huang Chia-Shin
Chen Li bt Wong Mew Choo
Hirose took some trouble beating Chien Yu Chin.
At the time of writing, the last four matches have no results yet.
badMania 03-28-2006, 10:55 PM Some WS results are out, with a few notable upsets.
Soratja Chansrisukot bt Wang Yihan 17-21, 21-12, 21-19
-- when was the last time a Thai WS player beat a Chinese player?
Lee Yun Hwa bt Cheng Shao-Chieh 21-4, 21-12
-- surprisingly easy win for the Korean.
Pai Min Jie bt Salakjit Ponsana 21-19, 16-21, 21-19
-- another upset win for the Taiwanese player...again a close shave in the third set
Trupti Murgunde bt Xing Aiying 21-12, 23-21
-- both players are in the CG and overall, the Indian players have caught my attention since their performance in Jaipur. Although India did not qualify for the Uber Cup, their singles have really improved a lot. Trupti and Saina won their matches today. Both face Japanese players tomorrow. Trupti will face Kanako Yonekura, while Saina will face Eriko Hirose
Ng Ka Shun bt Huang Chia-Hsin 21-13, 13-21, 21-11
Chen Li bt Wong Mew Choo 22-20, 21-11
-- a tight first set and I think Wong must have been exhausted after the CG outing. Yes, I agree that any Chinese women player can't be underestimated.

so sad to hear about that result....but anyway Mew Choo already got a lots of improvement........jia you WMC!!!!!!
hcpoirot 03-29-2006, 12:54 AM another suprise, Jun JY lost to Hkg player, Yip in 3 tight matches.
Very interesting result from this ABC 2006 specially in women singles. All the best Asian female players except China participate in here.
Shockingly, lots of seeded players lost.
The Japanese trio who will be likely play the 3 singles all cruise to second round. (Kaori, Kanako and Hirose)
Meanwhile Korea so far only had 2 singles after Jun shocking lost . So Korea will probably hesitated to place Jun as their third WS in Uber.
Taiwan lost 2 of their top WS. Bad sign. Hkg only lost one from 3 WS. Singapore lost 1 win 1.
So far Japan seems like top contenders beside Netherland to fight for runner up spot for Uber Cup. (if the Netherland pretend to loose in their group so they will not meet China in SF)
hcpoirot 03-29-2006, 12:59 AM In ABC 2006, most of Asia country sent their best players (specially the Thomas and Uber participants)
Curiously, China only send all their junior or second class shuttlers. If their junior players can reach final or even won , (maybe in WS or WD) , their confidence will be soaring up.
hcpoirot 03-29-2006, 01:20 AM Another wrong and very dumb move from PBSI.
Why they didn't send any WS and WD in ABC 2006?
If the reason cause they lost in Uber Cup, what a pathetic reason. Thailand and India who fail in Uber Cup send their best shuttlers.
ABC 2006 is 4 star events. And in women field, the competition is not very strong cause China didn't send their best shuttlers and all the European girls cannot compete here.
So it is a perfect event for Indonesia women singles and doubles to play here , gain experience and some ranking pointscause the opponents are easier.
If this still continued (and I strongly believe PBSI still will do it), our women players still cannot win Uber qualification for 2 or 4 years from now.
What a waste, cause we Do have some potential women players.
hcpoirot 03-29-2006, 01:21 AM Not to mention PBSI send all XD players here.
hcpoirot 03-29-2006, 01:32 AM If PBSI reason not to send the women players is efficiency and the women will not play for Uber final, its like very unbelievable reason.
They send 4 XD and 4 MD pairs. Why? There would be no XD in THomas Cup and we only need maximum 3 MD in Thomas Cup.
What they should do is send 3 XD and 3 MD. So the extra 4 people , they can send 2 WS and 1 WD. Or maybe 2 XD and 3 MD, 2 ws and 2 WD and save the cost of 2 extra people. It will be equal and efficient in my opinion.
badMania 03-29-2006, 01:50 AM In ABC 2006, most of Asia country sent their best players (specially the Thomas and Uber participants)
Curiously, China only send all their junior or second class shuttlers. If their junior players can reach final or even won , (maybe in WS or WD) , their confidence will be soaring up.
Not surprisingly, Indonesia is the only team that does not send its women team to the ABC. At this rate, Indonesia will fall further behind the normally second-class team like India. All thanks to PBSI's policy!

It's pretty obvious that they focus more on the MD and XD results. I do agree that these pairs have more potential, but, when you choose to neglect the entire women team and ground them at home in the next few months, I am pretty certain that you can forget about even a top 20 placing for these women singles players.
Now, even young and upcoming players like Saina Nehwal, Xing Aiying, Trupti Murgunde, and Yip Pui Yin is better than most women singles we have at Pelatnas.
badMania 03-29-2006, 02:03 AM WOMEN'S SINGLES ROUND 2 -- lots of shocking results...more to come tomorrow?
Wang Chen vs Salakjit Ponsana
Eriko Hirose vs Saina Nehwal (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- the Jap is technically more superior, but, my heart goes to the young and promising Saina
Lee Yun Hwa vs Li Li -- yet another tough call after Lee beat Cheng today
Jiang Yanjiao vs Pai Min-Jie -- it will be a shock if Jiang loses tomorrow
Trupti Murgunde vs Kanako Yonekura
Ng Ka Shun vs Chen Li
Yip Pui Yin vs Seo Yoon Hee -- another candidate for match of the round. The HK player has improved...but can see beat another Korean player after deposing Jun Jae Yun in 3 close sets?
Sutheswari Mudukasan vs Kaori Mori
badMania 03-29-2006, 02:08 AM Not much surprise in MS so far. Markus Wijanu has beaten a qualifier and will face Chetan Anand in Round 2 as expected. Does Chetan still have the energy after an exhausting CG and another 3 close sets victory today? I pick Markus to give us an upset later this evening (I think Round 2 will be played today as well). Ng Wei also beat Hendra Wijaya in 2 close sets (-17, -19). Easy workouts for LCW, KBH, and Park Sung Hwan. All their opponents couldn't even score past 8 points.
kemana 03-29-2006, 02:25 AM is this game over?
Devin Lahardi/Vita Marissa vs Zhang Wei/Yu Yang (MATCH OF THE ROUND)
anyone know the result? thanks first
badMania 03-29-2006, 03:28 AM First upset in MS:
Poompat (the Thai no 2 singles) has beaten Lee Tsuen Tseng 21-8, 20-22, 21-9!
Not a suprise because he has beaten Sony recently in Jaipur.
MEN'S SINGLES ROUND 2 (TOP HALF)
Lee Chong Wei vs Lee Cheol Ho -- no problem for LCW
Chetan Anand vs Markus Wijanu -- hopefully, the Indonesian can win
Ng Wei vs Nikhil Kanetkar
Poompat Sapkulchananart vs Li Yu -- can the Thai create another upset?
Kuan Beng Hong vs Qiu Yanbo
Park Sung Hwan vs Yogendran Krishnan
Sony Dwi Kuncoro vs Sho Sasaki (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- tough first test for Sony!
Yeoh Kay Bin vs Chin Sheng-Ming

rudy hartono must be replaced :)
i'd prefer chairul tanjung, he often spent his own money to send many players
when he was a chairman of pbsi
jasonmarc 03-29-2006, 06:04 AM WOMEN'S SINGLES ROUND 2 -- lots of shocking results...more to come tomorrow?
Wang Chen vs Salakjit Ponsana

Salakjit Ponsana?? I think she just lost her match to a Chinese taipei player!
should be Soratja right?
badMania 03-29-2006, 06:28 AM Salakjit Ponsana?? I think she just lost her match to a Chinese taipei player!
should be Soratja right?
Oops...typo...:D Yup, it should be Wang Chen vs Soratja Chansrisukot. Thanks for the correction.
badMania 03-29-2006, 06:36 AM The first round for WD is completed. Here's the pairings for Round 2
WOMEN'S DOUBLES ROUND 2
Wong Pei Tty/Chin Ee Hui vs Chang Yu-Ju/Cheng Hsiao-Yun
Thilini Sudhara Jayasinghe/Renu C.D.S. Hettiarachchige vs Lim Pek Siah/Joanne Quay Swee Ling -- what a long name....
Mooi Hing Yau/Fong Chew Yen vs Chien Yu-Chin/Cheng Wen-Hsing
Tomomi Masuda/Aki Akao vs Zhao Yunlei/Cheng Shu -- the Chinese beat Xing Aiying/Shinta Mulya Sari today....they could sneak another suprise tomorrow.
Long Ying/Pun Ut Wa vs Pan Pan/Tian Qing -- yet another potential top Chinese women doubles pair in the making.
Satako Suetsuna/Miyuki Maeda vs Saralee Thungthongkam/Sathinee Jankrajangwong
Du Jing/Yu Yang vs Wong Man Ching/See Phui Leng
Jiang Yanmei/Li Yujia vs Kumiko Ogura/Reiko Shiota (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- gonna be a pretty interesting match...the Jap pair has an edge.
badMania 03-29-2006, 06:40 AM More MS results:
Sairul Amar Ayob beat Arvind Bhat 21-9, 22-20
Chan Yan Kit, Yousuke Nakanishi, Chen Yu, and Liao Sheng-Shiun all cruised through to the 2nd round.
**KZ** 03-29-2006, 06:42 AM how old is lim pek siah? she has changed a few partners.....why do they have to retire so early? joanne quay has made a few comebacks already....besides are they in the national team? anybody know?
nugroho 03-29-2006, 07:00 AM is alamsyah also pelatnas boy?
badMania 03-29-2006, 07:18 AM Wow....Kendrick Lee just managed to beat Alamsyah....21-13, 20-22, 21-19....a close third set as well.
The results today seem to have shown that the 21 points system does favor some young and upcoming players. When pitted against a non-top 10 players, they tend to do pretty well. It certainly adds to the excitement and unpredictable nature of the game.
nugroho 03-29-2006, 07:24 AM is alamsyah alsa pelatnas player?
badMania 03-29-2006, 07:28 AM is alamsyah alsa pelatnas player?
I believe so.....
muziqalicious 03-29-2006, 07:59 AM is alamsyah alsa pelatnas player?
he def is :)
he's not that famous in indonesia tho...
badMania 03-29-2006, 08:08 AM Simon passed his first test, beating Lu Yi 21-15, 21-17. He will face Thomas Kurian tomorrow and he should win.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Tien Minh has added another scalp by beating Shoji Sato 21-12, 21-16. He will face Roslin next and should be up for another upset.
Other players like Boonsak, Hafiz, Jang Yong Soo, and Ahn Hyun Suk all go through according to expectation.
MEN'S SINGLES ROUND 2 (BOTTOM HALF)
Kendrick Lee Yen Hui vs Chen Yu
Yousuke Nakanishi vs Sairul Amar Ayob
Liao Sheng-Shiu vs Chan Yan Kit
Jang Young Soo vs Kashyap (??)
Muhd Roslin Hashim vs Nguyen Tien Minh -- close candidate for match of the round. I am picking the Viet this time.
Ahn Hyun Suk vs Boonsak Ponsana
Thomas Kurian vs Simon Santoso -- shouldn't be a problem for Simon
Hung Yuk Wong vs Muhd Hafiz Hashim -- another breeze for Hafiz
**KZ** 03-29-2006, 08:10 AM havent seen roslin in international competition for awhile.....where has he been? retired?
hcpoirot 03-29-2006, 08:23 AM Not surprisingly, Indonesia is the only team that does not send its women team to the ABC. At this rate, Indonesia will fall further behind the normally second-class team like India. All thanks to PBSI's policy!
Agree.
How ironic that after our women team lost to Malay, Thai and Singapore, in future our Uber team may also lost to India and probably from Vietnam 3-4 years from now. Cause I saw that Vietnam starting to send their players (both men and women) to lots of events.
hcpoirot 03-29-2006, 08:31 AM nugroho,
if I am not wrong, alamsyah is Indonesia fifth MS right now. After Taufik got injured and if he is not regain his health in homas Cup later, alamsyah will be our fourth MS in Thomas Cup.
How funny and ironic, cause for Markus and Alamsyah, this is probably their first international events they enter. (beside Indonesia Open)
And their next big events will be Thomas Cup where Markus had a big chance to play third singles.
And before Thomas Cup begin, even I don't know who are our fourth and fifth singles.
Compare with Malay,China and Korea, I can named you at least five of these nation MS. :D
mcchooi 03-29-2006, 09:10 AM how old is lim pek siah? she has changed a few partners.....why do they have to retire so early? joanne quay has made a few comebacks already....besides are they in the national team? anybody know?
i believe pek siah is not part of the national team at the moment. she plays under the KL racquet club which does private coaching (for those who are interested) - so are sairul and sutheswari
nugroho 03-29-2006, 10:38 AM hehehehe... well.. in this case i could drawn my dream that indonesia could bring back The ThomasCup. no international expirience, no knowladge about tournament, no damn confidence....
all of them means NO CHANCE
abedeng 03-29-2006, 07:32 PM Jiang Yanmei/Li Yujia vs Kumiko Ogura/Reiko Shiota (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- gonna be a pretty interesting match...the Jap pair has an edge.
I'm quite impressed with the SG girls, though, the draw is really not fair to whichever pair that loses. A bit more intelligence in SG frontcourt control & attack might just topple the cute Japanese pair. Only problem is the JAPS have advantage in tactics with Prof Park Joo Bong.
