then I went to the player's seat area.. I saw Kumiko and Eriko.. they were about to leave.. I quickly quickly stopped them:" Summimasen Summasen! Eriko san, shashin o totta koto dekiru ka!!??" (Excuse me, eriko san, may i take photo with you?" Wah, Eriko is really cute and looks homely :D

Then, I saw Yap Kim Hock, wah, the first time I saw him, he was so kind, so do Rexy, they are the most friendly ppl I met today :D , especially Rexy, I chatted with him.. I saw someone who looks like Park Joo Bong, but he's wearing Japan jacket... I dunno, is Park working for Japan badminton now?? But he really looks like Park JOo BOng?!

Then, I saw this girl, Wang Yihan, Jiang Yanjiao and Chen Li...!!! THey all looks homely... they seem are good friends of Korean player.!! Yanjiao was walking around carrying her racquet bag on her shoulder... :p she looks very friendly... but Wang Yihan is a bit shy....

When Wang Chen vs Jiang Yanjiao match finish, I quickly went to the corridor and waited for Wang Chen. she came out and some reporters went to interview her.. SO.. I quickly took photo with her.. hehee

Then Lee Wan Wah and Choong Tan Fook came!!! All people ran towards them and took photo!!! Wan Wah is wearing earring, they din talk much tho... cos the match is going to start!!:cool:


THEN, we went around, to our surprise, LEE CHONG WEI :eek: is warming up at the corridor outside the media room..!!!!!! Wahhhh, we asked him for photo, but he straight waved his hand and say no:"Bi sai guo hou"(after match)....
after LCW match, he came out again, but nobody can take photo with him, cos he said he wanna rest!! Many many ppl gathered there for around half an hour, but still nobody can take photo with him.. then, my friend go squatt beside him and ask me take photo, LCW straight stand up and went away to the media room, many ppl followed him, but nobody can take photo... :o :(

Then, I saw the Taiwanese WD Chien Yu XXX-Chen Wen Xiang. Sorry
I forgot their names, I took photo with them, and I ask Chien,"Where is Cheng Hsiao Chieh??" She said "on the player seat".. I went to search for her, but cannot find woh>>>:confused:

THEN, NOW IT's LULUK.. I went to the washroom, I saw Luluk is warming at the corridor alone.. So I asked him for photo.. Luluk just smiled and said a word in english:"QUICKLY".. haha...

then, to my surprise when I was walking around, Sudket and Saralee were chatting with their coach at the entrance.. hehee... So I took a photo with both of them, and then with Saralee alone....

At the end of day, Kumiko, Reiko, Eriko etc were about to leave the stadium, I quickly stopped Kumiko and took photo with her!! And then I ask her to ask Reiko to take photo, but Reiko already faraway, she dun want!! :crying: :(
The japanese palyers seem dun like to take photo, compared to Chinese and Malaysian player (except LCW).

The match of day is HOON THIEN HOW-TAN BOON HIONG vs Korean pair!!! And CHONG TAN FOOK-LEE WAN WAH vs LULUK-ALVEN!!! Both our pair won.. the crowd went frenzy!!! Especially when our pair and LCW was smashing, all people shout "YEAHHHHHHHH"!!!!!!!!

hmmmm.... heheheheheheh.. maybe tomorrow going again!!!

Yeah, there are already a lot of people gathered at that place when he was warming up. I looked at him, and then he looked back at me, haha... Then he just stopped warming up when more people came.

After the match, he rest there, a lot of people and media and reporters wanted to interview him. But he just asked us to let him rest first. He refused all fans to take photo with im. Then there was a Malay guy took his racquet bag for autograph, he had no choice but just sign. I'm not very sure but I don't think so, there is a booth selling Yonex shirt, a lot of players especially Chinese always hang out there....

The badminton hall is very near to the custom, only around 5 minutes drive.
Are you familiar with JB? The staidum is opposite to the Grand Continental hotel, where the players accomodate.. If you come from Singapore, take the first flyover and turn right, then you'll see the stadium at your left in less than 2 minutes.:D

I visited City Stadium (Stadium Bandaraya) last Sat to watch the ABC semi finals. That was my first experience taking a train to Kranji MRT station to board Bus no. 170 to cross the causeway (a bridge linking Singapore and Johor Baru, Malaysia). It took quite a while to clear the Malaysian customs with our Singapore passports and coupled with the traffic jam at the causeway at around midday, it kept tempers rather high. But patience prevailed in the end. :)

On the Malaysian side, taxis were waiting but they asked for RM20 which was about 4 times higher than the normal fare, so my friend and I decided to walk a little further to the main road and managed to get a cab for RM6 without using the meter. My friend happened to get two complimentary "Guest" passes so we could watch the semi finals for free! ;)

Yes, it was quite a change from the more subdued environment of the Melbourne Commonwealth Games, except when there were Malaysian and Singaporean students in the midst to support their respective countries' badminton stars.

In badminton crazy JB, as with many other Malaysian states, the noise level was at a fantastic decible with mainly the banging of the balloon clappers by the enthusiastic spectators. Although there was sporadic shouts of excitement, especially when a smash was imminent, little was heard of the famous slogan "Malaysia Boleh", when Malaysian players faced opponents from other countries.

Here, there was no need to use this vocal weapon as the fans were pretty sure that their Malaysian stars would win, and indeed they obliged with Chong Wei beating Park in singles and the two Malaysian doubles pairs of young Hoon Thien How & Tan Boon Heong and not-so-young Choong Tan Fook & Lee Wan Wah, also disposing of their opponents, though the latter had a much harder time against Indonesians, Alven and Luluk. As we all know, the young world junior 2004 doubles champion pair had the distinction of beating former world champions, Candra and Sigit in straight games in the quarter-finals.

Actually, because of the excitement and movement all around me in rather congested space, I could not hold my camera steady for long periods of time and I did not use a tripod, so it was very difficult to take really good pictures. Additionally, I was seated near the far-corner near to the stringing station and the lights were a bit dim. But I'm happy that you and Weeyet still found the pics ok. :p

I tried to take more off-court pictures to give readers an idea of what was going on away from the courts. I chose to focus a little more on the coaches and the electrifying atmosphere.

I was just as surprised as Weeyet to see Park Joo Bong, together with a lady coach (or translator/coach?) spending a great deal of time to prepare T Mori. In the background too, I could not even recognize the balding Hendrawan at first until my young friend (ex-Vietnam national player now studying in NUS who got me the pass from his Singaporean national player friend) pointed him out to me! :D Mori had improved so much under these two legendary players that Mori was able to defeat her younger Chinese player L Chen and stretched title-holder, Wang Chen, to a rubber in the Finals. Hendrawan must have been coaching Mori for only a very short while after leaving the Indonesian Badminton Assn and who knows how much more he could do with this relatively short but obviously very determined Japanese lady if given a much longer time! Park is basically a doubles-specialist unlike Hendrawan

Of course Rexy was a familiar sight as he too was in Melbourne with his boys. But soft-spoken Thai coach Sompol (a very good singles player during his prime) remained close to Boonsak as he did in Manila during the SE Asian Games last December. Li Mao was there for Chong Wei too, but he was too far away to be captured properly on camera. :D

i don't know about this. the first time i saw the picture, iwas like"hey,this guy look a little bit like hendrawan". i haven't seen hendrawan that much lately too be sure it is not him. i remember hendrawan as a good looking guy with a constant smiley quality on his face. Sorry to say, this man you were refering to as hendrawan is not good looking(at all). from what iread in jawapos hendrawan has been offered to hold a position in PBSI jawatimur(closer to his hometown in malang)
