It's counterfeit, simply by looking at the picture. Go and file a claim on Ebay and report the seller.

What makes you think it is fake? Are you sure?
Thanks

First thing, is the price. A real NS9K goes for for at least 1.5 times and up. Since this is supposedly a US coded racket, the price of this would normally be sold for $200 USD+.

Second, the picture clearly indicates that it is a counterfeit because the "O" in Yonex is incorrect.

Take a look at this picture since I own a NS9K. See the difference in the "O"?

Yeah I can see your point with the 0. It is thicker at the top and the bottom in the real one yes. This aside is there anyway to match the serial numbers to something to test for sure?

Matt
02-24-2008, 04:49 PM
The date code and the serials correlate with each other, that would be the test. In this case, it is way off because the serial too high for the date code.

I can mainly check the rackets via visuals. There are members here who are familiar with the serials to check.

In most cases, if the visual is wrong, guaranteed the date/serial code will be incorrect and vice versa indicate that it is counterfeit.

yup agreed, the O in Yonex on the bit of cardboard attached to the strings of the racquet looks really weird, it's definitely not the official yonex font.

try not to buy from ebay, the risk is not worth the reward.

Well..bbesports.com got forums as well,n one of them is a buy and sell 2nd hand products "二手用品",starting from rackets,shoes,clothes,etc..just like "Buy&Sell in BC".

Yes, I do find it starnge because according to my data, the serial is a little off for that date code; when I say "little off", by a couple of 1000 maybe!!!
So, thats the reason why I asked but then again, bbesports is such a reputable sports store, why would they sell fakes, even if they are pre-owned??? baffling!!!

Not really..since bbesports.com is an online store itself, but the 2nd hand forum is more of like transactions happends between members..not making transactions with the bbesports online store itself.

So,which one r u saying "a lil off"?The AT700 or the AT900P?Cos i inquired two..

Since i don't really know how to count the serial numbers,i just judged it from the appearence. It's all good,as far as i concerned. From the grommets, the armortec on 9-3o'clock,paint jobs, engraved numbers, the barcode sticker with the status of the racket, under the original grip..they both has it,n they r both looks real.

I have check with the sports shop.. it's in infact fake.. there are few elements to check for authentication as adviced by the pro shop owner.

1. Both serial & date code (serial sequence must not run too far with the date of manufacture)
2. Both serial & date code must be laser print (fake code is emboss with white ink)
3. Bottom of the racquet cone (You can tell from the word Japan, fake are like hand written)
4. Grip (Original yonex has always have good grip, fake grip very flat and look like PVC)
5. Printing on the racquet body (fake sometimes are not evenly printed)
6. Paint (Fake sometimes has rough finishing on the body head)
7. Stringing hole (Fake has uneven distribution of the plastic / rubber attach to the holes, some are bigger than others)
8. Tags (Fake sometimes has funny bar-coded stickers on the grip and funny tags hanging to it. Original tags can tells)

I hope the the above will help a little from being tricked on fake racquet upon collecting it..

By the way.. I got my refund :) The seller was also tricked by the supplier.. gosh!

yea i can understand, but isnt it titanium is strong?, and the point is i only receive for one day, he should be hv some refund or exchange policy......he said i needa add 120 plus shipping USD to exchange the new one, so if i send bak my racquet to him, there will be charge for like 50 dollars.....so wut is the point i send him bak then

don't think there's any titanium on the nano 9000. besides, it's quite common for racquets to break if you clash it with your friend's during a game. even yonex would not offer you a replacement for it, so i doubt sumai will. replacements are only available for defects, though i don't quite know how they prove that.

this is how and what will happened if buy from ebay or far away supplies. one must think carefully about handling fees or shipping fees if want to claim warranty. it will be cheap, much cheaper to buy but the consequences......

Also, as far as I know, sumai doesn't have a return policy. All he has is a money back guarantee if the racket is fake (which we've all known to be legit). So technically, he's not responsible for the replacement of your racket. Like you said, he SHOULD have a return policy but he doesn't.

Hmm..accidents do happend..really.I don't think that an expensive racket would means it's harder to break..since in fact, expensive rackets would be in a lighter weight, which means..it's tend to break easier than the cheap ones.Bitter news, isn't it?That's why everytime i play,i would really take a look at who's my partner is.If it's someone who's not really good,i'd pick some racket that's cheaper. That's how i really decide on which racket i'm going to use in a match..since i don't have any sponsors to supply me rackets everytime i broke a racket. So,that makes me more careful..since i already broke 4 rackets in less than 2 years already.3 of them might be caused by the collisions during doubles.Playing double means more chance for a racket to break than when u play singles..

So,my advice, next time..don't use an expensive racket to play double if u're afraid to lose one.If buying any rackets n spending money is not an issue for u,then feel free.:)

Alken,
When you say that "serial sequence must not run too far with the date of manufacture" Can you explain this. Is there a web site where I can look this up? for example rackets made in the year 2000 should start with 1000000 and 2001 should start with 2000000...ect How do I know which year should have what starting number?

Thanks.

A friend of mine is sending me a racket, for my birthday, I will post the numbers soon when I get it. I will need help from you all to determine if I get a real or a fake racket :-)

Thanks.

That would be convenient wouldn't it??? No, there are no websites that lets you check the authenticity of the racket by its corresponding serial number. I am pretty sure that some of the members here(including me) has a list of most of the serials that are posted in this forum & thats how we can tell if the serial 'falls' into that particular date code range or not. it is not easy maintainig the data, but we do it for the good of the community.

Please see my reply via Post #2662 to Raul07 of Singapore. He has an Nanosopeed 9000S of the same serial no. and cone date as yours.
Did he give to you as gift?
Or it is a case of fake rackets maker getting smarter and hitting on a matching shaft serial and cone code?

we have been speculating about that last number for a while now.
the theory i'm more inclined to believe at the moment is that it's some sort of batch number, or factory number, so that yonex can identify where/who produced that racquet.

Yonex Armortec 900 Power/Technique was launched in Jan 2007.
The first Armortec 900 in my list of Yonex rackets made in Japan is an Armortec 900 Power which carries shaft serial 6621139 and cone code 150172UK belongs to BMCentral member "LT - RulZ" of London.
IIMHO, the shaft serial of 6352641 is too low for your Armortec 900 Technique.

No offense, but ebay feedback is not very reliable a lot of times. This time, it's an expensive lesson. The cone code means the racket is made in year 2000, which is way too early for AT900 series.

Yes, I agree. The comments mostly say: 'Excellent communication! Very fast shipping! A+++!!' blah blah blah. When it comes to the real buyers' comments, they are usually negative comments, because the ones they recieved were fakes.

I suspected as much having followed the excellent guidance re checking serial numbers provided within these threads. Simply wanted verification of my suspicions. Fortunately no purchase made so a lucky escape it seems - one for the good guys? In this case, the seller has made many sales, all with positive feedback so i believe he thinks it is genuine, even though it isn't!Thanks to all for your assistance.

so does the power i guess,matt..
Made in 24April2006?Too early for AT900 i guess.
But the NS9000S sounds genuine, from the price n the production date.Dunno about the shaft serials.

No need to dispute it. Just report him to Ebay and PayPal (if you paid using it) since this is a known fake seller.

Why do they so dare to sell the fakes at such a high price? It's almost cost like one genuine one.

HEhe not really. Some of the prices, it's like, oh fake..! But to some, people who don't realize these signs easily fall for it because they want it for the lowest price!

yup...it's easy to find out if it's too obvious..but like 10-20$ difference, lots of ppl would fall for it.
