I bought mp25 coz i just needed something to practice with atm while im training here with a group in china. i suppose mp25 is old? so its cheap? i dont rly know much since theres not much info on a mp25... is it even real? =.=' Not a raquet expert...
Fake. no such thing as 97th day and 0th month. The price is too cheap to be true.

It's amazing how there are fake low end rackets how. Normally you would try to go for high end to make for money.

Mybadmintonstore is a legit seller so there shouldn't be any problems.
You should of bought your JP racket from Shuttlehouse since it would be cheaper.
Thanks.
Shuttlehouse's site seemed to be a little messy. =X

So is it for sure that authentic yonex does not string their warranty to their racquets??
So is it for sure that authentic yonex does not string their warranty to their racquets??
You have Leehsim's word. If you are not sure, you can submit pictures for me to look at since I go by visuals. If not, you can talk with Yonex.
Depending on the Yonex subsidiary you are referring to, Yonex high-end rackets typically do not come pre-stringed. Yonex UK is one of the exceptions where the high-ends comes pre-stringed with BG-65 if I recall correctly.

Usually they don't Yonex ship racquet to dealer without those cardboard. Dealer attach them. Anyway, what do you think, real or not? To the other members, please do not answer...

They had little to do with the purpose of this thread.
As we have repeatedly explained, this is a voluntary service.
The members who answer queries in this thread rely on accurate data, extensive knowledge and vast experience. It's like an airport's flight-tracking service... it can only tell you when a particular flight will arrive or depart. It certainly cannot tell you if you must travel... that's your choice.
leehsim, for example, maintains a Yonex racquet database. It's his work and it's his alone. Also, it's taken him years to develop it. When he uses it to answer members' queries, he is doing it out of generosity... not because someone is paying him or because he is obliged to do it.
As the saying goes, don't look a gift horse in the mouth ;)

I bought it pretty much knowing it's a fake (I'm kinda poor), but it's the best racket I've ever owned. It's very convincing though (very light, and the best player on my team thought it was real), so it'd be nice to know for sure.

Thanks, malayali. Actually, I checked a few more sites on recognizing fakes, and noticed the fact that the 800's weren't around in 2000, hah...
But I also checked some other details and it seems I got a pretty good fake, because the only difference from the real thing (aside from the serial code) are the round grommets instead of rectangular ones.
It's served me well though, and I'll probably keep using it for awhile, until I'm actually good enough for a top-level racket.

alright, based on the racquets posted in this thread so far, i have compiled a list of the most popular ones, as purchased by BCBF's members.
1 At 800 (Off and Def) 304
2 Ns 9000 (S and X) 280
3 Mp 99 (inc Mp 90) 257
4 At 700 (including Limited edition) 248
5 Ns 8000 222
6 At 900 (T and P) 218
7 Ti-10 (all generations) 186
8 Mp 100 151
Total 1866
this total represents around 65% of all the yonex racquets posted (only the genuine ones). i was quite surprised by the results, i certainly didn't expect the at800 series to top the chart. also, unsurprisingly, the stiffest racquets are all amongst the most popular.

I know people who have bought rackets from Racketwise before and their rackets were real so i assumed it was real but since Leehsim says it is fake then i am wrong. No offend but my opinion is that it is rare to have eBay sellers putting up legitimate Yonex rackets for sale. There is also no guarantee that every racket sold from a legitimate eBay seller is geniune.

and here are the top 10 country codes:
1 SP 922
2 TH 462
3 US 184
4 CH 180
5 CD 176
6 IP 175
7 UK 155
8 JP 148
9 TW 130
10 GR 83
Total 2615
unsurprisngly, SP codes are the most numerous, followed by TH. what is surprising is how close the number of US, CH, CD and IP codes are. only 9 racquets separate these 4 codes. again, this only represents the racquets that have been 'certified' as genuine, the total represents about 90% of the serials submitted.

haha, ok, looks pretty similar then. i think i have a few more records than you because i've included some ebay serials from reliable sources (such as tum98 and sumai03). although my records are from the very first post, including those posts which have been cleared in the past to make this thread more managable, i don't think it is as extensive as yours, i only record the shaft serial, cone serial and racquet model.
I know people who have bought rackets from Racketwise before and their rackets were real so i assumed it was real but since Leehsim says it is fake then i am wrong.

Not really, just for reference. If the counterfeiters went by that rule you mentioned above, then why do we see rackets with bogus date codes? (ie. 72 day/month, etc...)? They just make some random numbers.

According to my list Yonex rackets made in Japan, the cone code of 230183TH (date=23 Jan 2008), the valid shaft serial should be between 7393270 and 7399200.
For the shafte serial of 7594340, the valid date code should be around 09048xCC (date=09 Apr 2008).
IMHO, the Yonex Armortec 900 Power of shaft serial 7594340 cone code 230183TH is fake.
Sorry, there was a typo in the shaft serial number. Below are the corrected details:

Is wise = advice/suggestion?
If so, here is my suggestion.
Nothing too much can Yonex help you now. You need to report it to eBay. If you use Paypal, you can request for a refund because it is fake.
Go to church and pray you can get your money back...

Just one more question, is there any chance that some professionals are equiped by Yonex with racquets in early product stage where the serial number is not proper? I.e. my nanospeed 10000? I just want to make clear before I report somebody to ebay. TheTudz...

1) It is a fake!
2) Pro's "DEMO" racquet will not have cone code. It has "DEMO" engraved on the cone.
3) Prototype, testing racquet all come in black with minimal painting.
4) Please do more research on this forum before you buy.

With a shaft code like that and a price like that, almost definately fake.
What's wrong with the shaft number ?
The racket is highly flexible and quite good even if it is a fake.

the number doesn't match the cone code.
plus, you won't find a genuine brand new ns9k going for so little.
and the racquet should be very stiff, not highly flexible.
but, as long as you're aware you're buying a fake, that's alright.

This seems like a great racquet. Everything seems brilliant quality and I have checked some things to see if it is fake and they all seem fine. I am just worried about the cone code - the "80" should be the month right?
All help appreciated,

Yup, definately a fake. ARC10 wasn't even out in 2007, no such thing as 80th month, OR day, price is too low, and I'm betting the seller is based in China.

Your shaft code shouldn't have that many digits. Also, it's too cheap.
Being very flexible, that's a normal for a fake. NS9000 should be stiff.

You mean fake racquets. Clone racquets are like APACS, and stuff. They make theirown original racquets look like yonex stuff, but it's actually quality stuff.

in China there is no FAKE racket, they call it COPY racket.
in China there is no FAKE racket, they call it COPY racket.
It's still counterfeit/fake because it isn't made by the actual manufactuer as in Yonex.

im new to this forum, so was that sarcasm or are u serious?
It was sarcasim. Mainly because BC members are to only sell genuine rackets. He was joking because you are inquring about a BC member, in this case Pete, therefore you gotten the odd response.
With that put aside to answer your question. Pete sells genuine rackets. Also Mister Keen is a Yonex Authorized dealer in Hong Kong.

Yep, I have no doubts about that, I actually chose the shop on your recommendation ;)
But irrespective, can't hurt to check. I did find it odd that it came with a nanospeed cover rather than a mp cover though.

Check the NS bag to see if there is anything wrong with it.

Nah the bag itself is fine, i'm just nit picky. I personally would prefer a MP bag to go with a MP racquet, but it's not that big a deal.

actually now im really curious, more often than not, on ebay, on sale in this forum, on websites etc. Racquets always come with ns bags, irrespective of the actual racquet itself. Is there some sort of NS bag surplus going around?
