i dont think the N9k came out in year 2000. not mistaken is year 2006.

I have checked in the information of your Yonex ArcSaber 10 shaft Serial:7629698; Cone Date Code:250482SP (date=25 Apr 2008) to my information list of Yonex rackets made in Japan, its serial no. and date code are legitimate.
However you still need to inspect the other physical features of the rackets carefully and compare the specifications to ascertain their total legitimacy or authenticity yourself.
thank you very much.:D

I don't know how to tell anything from the cone serial... Did you come to a conclusion if it was a fake or not?
I don't know why I thought it was a fake, the cone serial seems reallllllyy... weird? 080706. 8 7 6 o.o;; I always thought serial codes were supposed to be 'unique' =p

Well...the serial is unique...not the date code. The 080706 is the date code (date it was produced) and is definitely not unique, unless Yonex only makes 1 racquet per day :p

I'm not too sure about Yorkdale carrying the AT700 or not. As to this date, I don't think there has been a US or CD coded counterfeit (haven't been on forums for half a year so I might be wrong) and the serial/date code seems to be legitimate. The best thing to do is to search this forum and figure out how to distinguish between a genuine and a counterfeit racquet so you will be well prepared for the deal tomorrow.

I don't know how to read the serial/date codes... but it says it's made in 2000? That's odd.... The racquet looks real and everything
One thing: After the date code, there is a space between the code and the "SP". Is that supposed to be like that or is the code and the SP supposed to be together...

There are no spaces between the last number and the SP. Post a picture to be sure though. However, if the date code is the one you posted then for sure, it is counterfeit.

This is an obvious fake. Regular YY AT900P would cost around 200, and you got it for 42 bucks. Also, avoid buying anything Yonex from eBay (you'll know why if you read the stickies).
Just so you know how to read the cone numbers. On yours, 520276SP means DDMMY#XX (D - days, M - Month, Y - Year, # - Unknown number, although I sometimes think of it as batch number, XX - region code). So in your case, the racquet is produced on the 2007/02/52, which is fake.
I think someone just plazgerized mine line up above!! :D

There are too many counterfeit racquet sellers on ebay and its pretty obvious when a racquet is being sold for less than $50 while its retail price is like three times that amount.

Actually, the sticker is a very good give-away of the racquet being fake. It would never be sticked on like that, never diagonal. Should be straight and uniformed. Like this...

Take a look at the "O" in the word YONEX. Its not the best picture but it does look like it's counterfeit based on that. I might be wrong though.

If the numbers he posted are what they are, the racquet is certainly fake.
However, that is not the point here.
As has been repeated umpteen times, this is NOT a thread for shopping enquiries or for qualifying ebay purchases :(

To be honest with you, the cone code is looking dodgy. The digits mean the following:
1st 2 digits: day
2nd 2 digits: month
3rd digit: year after 2000
4th digit: No one really knows; might be a batch code.
Letters: distribution code, SP is south pacific. There are many of these distribution codes but no-one knows how rackets from different distribution codes differ.
So, going on that, your racket should have been made on the date 11/21/00 which is nonsense there is no 21st month and the Arc7 wasn't released in the year 2000.
Personally, I wouldn't trust ebay for rackets anyway. However, I'm sorry you were unlucky this time and hope you didn't pay too much.

Sadly, another one that isn't looking good. http://www.mybadmintonstore.com/shop/pages.php?page=specification&
The above link is to a website that has information on Yonex cone codes and I'll give a little bit of information here. The first 2 digits in the cone code denote the day on which the racket was made. 06 is perfectly legitimate. The second two digits denote the month and this is where things start to go downhill. Your month is 48 and there is no 48th month. This means the racket is of questionable legitimacy. The 5th digit denotes the year after 2000. I'm not sure when the nanospeed was released, but the 48th month thing makes me very suspicious as your date would be (in English format, not American) 11/48/05 and this is nonsensical.
I'm sorry, but the racket does not look legitimate due to the date code on the cone. Check the link for what to look for next time you buy a Yonex racket.

seems like a lot of work for one person to do all the checking. i thank you for taking the time to help those of us who can't determine otherwise. also, could someone tell me what's the distribution code "IP" stand for? I've only seen US, CD, SP, TH before.
I have checked in the information of your Yonex Muscle Power 100 shaft Serial:6165319; Cone Date Code:160567IP (date=16 May 2006) to my information list of Yonex rackets made in Japan, its serial no. and date code are legitimate.
However you still need to inspect the other physical features of the racket carefully and compare the specifications to ascertain its total legitimacy or authenticity yourself.
IP is the distributionn code for Indonesia.

hey leehsim 1000 thx for verify my racket. But I have one more question:
why the shaft serial (1579070) is so low? does the serial number starts from the beginning after 9999999 ?
When the present seiral system of numbering Yonex rackets made in Taiwan started, it begins with 5000000 (7-digit figure) in 01 Jan 2000.
When the shaft serial no. hit 9999999 in late Apr or early May 2008, Yonex decides to keep the 7- digit figure and starts afresh from 0000001? or may be 1000000?
My first record in my list of Yonex rackets made in Taiwan after 9999999 is a Muscle 29 with the shaft serial of 1545165 and cone code of 200584SW (20 May 2008).

For the cone code of 240462CH (date=24 Apr 2006), the valid shaft serial shoud be near or after 6116500.
For the shaft serial of 6599480, the valid cone code should be near 27 Dec 2006 in the form of may be 27126xCC.
IMHO the Yonex Nanospeed 9000 Type S shaft serial: 6599480 cone code : 240462CH is a fake.

Umm, all I know is that the shop guy told me it was the new range from yonex. He also showed me the same model in one of the catalogues he had which had 2008 on it's cover and had all the latest models you see on their site. So does it mean it's fake?

Firstly, thanks for the quick replies mate, really appreciate it. And secondly, here are a few links to what exactly the colors on my racquet are:
http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=40404&stc=1&d=1205411225
http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=40403&stc=1&d=1205411225
These are not pictures of my OWN racquet, but mine is the same color. I'm guessing its the older model.
So, what's ur opinion? And, can u also tell me if there's any major difference b/w the old and new models of AT700?

I have checked in the information of your Yonex Armortec 900 Power Shaft Serial:7793938; Cone Code:090784SP (date=09 Jul 2008) to my information list of Yonex rackets made in Japan, its shaft serial and cone code are legitimate.

Just a reminder. Do you really think posting genuine serial numbers is safe? If a fake racquets maker find these information, he can use those genuine numbers on his product. Then nobody can validate if it's genuine from the serial number. Besides, the faker get SN from all over the world, so the fake racquets can be sold world wide.
The price can not be a proof, a fake racquet can also be sold with a sky high price just like Yonex.

What is the difference? The counterfeit racket maker can simply walk into the racket store which sells genuine rackets and simply write down the numbers.
Price and serials alone is not enough to determine if it's a genuine racket. The customer needs to know what the genuine one looks like and also if they got it from a reliable source (ie. Yonex Authorized Dealer).

Collecting genuine numbers in real life is much difficult than collecting hundreds of numbers on network, which is much easier (like in this thread). With hundreds numbers, fakers can evenly distribute them to fake racquets. This make it more difficult to identify the fake racquets.
The only way to prevent this is to set up a "authorized one time authentic serial number". One serial number should be authenticated only once by a sole authorized department or institution. And the serial number should be kept security, but not public like in this thread.
Yonex authorized dealers generally are more reliable, but the prices there are normally more expensive.
Ok point taken. Right now the fake makers have not made any so-called perfect rackets so far however it would be still a concern because the unsuspected fall for them.

time and time again this comes up, if you know what are the indications of a genuine racquet, then you know what to look for if you suspect that a racquet is counterfeit. yes the codes can be copied but like Matt said, there has not been a perfect counterfeit as of yet.

It's true that "there has not been a perfect counterfeit as of yet", but just think about the reason why this thread exist.

Yes, I get what you're saying but that is why leeshim always remind the racquet owner that checking the serial and date code is not sufficient to determine whether or not the racquet is genuine.

What you are forgetting is that in case a real number combination get's copied from this thread it is already in the database so should it pop up again, newly bought, there is no way it can be genuine. Only if it's second hand ;).
Obviously when we walk in a store without being able to check the database it would indeed be hard which is probably what you meant in the first place :D.

Ok, let me guess leeshim's work flow of validating:
1. leeshim get a SN here
2. leeshim connect to the Yonex's main SN database and check if the SN is valid
3. If the SN is valid, then in the main database this SN is marked as CHECKED, and the reseller of this SN will be recoreded.
4. If somebody else (no matter if s/he's a agent in client center or somebody like leeshim) try to validate the same SN in the main database, s/he will be told that this SN has been used elsewhere.
If this is the workflow, then a "authorized one time authentic serial number" system has been setup. And we don't need to worry about SN being reused. If it isn't, then my worry is reasonable.
When I walk in a store, I can read the producing date and selling area from the cone SN, and I know approximate starting number of main SN for this cone SN. If the SN looks OK and the racquet looks and feels OK, and the price is not strange, then I will have confidence to buy it. But this is not the case for many other racquet users. For them, the SN might be the only method to check if the product is genuine. So I think it might be better to keep this method safe for them.

By the way, from ryim's reply "leeshim always remind the racquet owner that checking the serial and date code is not sufficient to determine whether or not the racquet is genuine.", I can see that a "authorized one time authentic serial number" system has not been setup. The SN will be checked in database to see if Yonex has this SN, but can't be told how many times this SN has been used. So the danger exists there.

Agreed.
Kenny, first two numbers denote the day of the month the racket was made on. Second two numbers denote the month of the year. The fifth number is the year after 2000. The final number remains a mystery. The two letters are the distribution code, in your case, CH meaning China but this is irrelevant as the rest of the cone code doesn't make sense. Sadly, your racket is counterfeit.

That's the reason why Sir Matt's here...He's the VISUAL CHECKER...and Leehism is on the serials and cones...Great Tandems.

time and time again this comes up, if you know what are the indications of a genuine racquet, then you know what to look for if you suspect that a racquet is counterfeit. yes the codes can be copied but like Matt said, there has not been a perfect counterfeit as of yet.
"Counterfeits" can never be perfect to the genuine..the term speaks for itself. They only look perfectly similar (it seems)!!..that only a trained eye or material testing can spot the difference. Serials? they can be copied as well as their manufacturing dates.

thanksPlease see my reply via Post #5713 asking arun05 to confirm his cone code as 130384SP (date=13 Aug 2008) does not fit in at all with the shaft serial into my list. Still waiting for his confirmation. I suspect it could be 230384SP.
Your MP 99 of shaft serial 7526629 and cone code 13038--- (date=13 Mar 2008) fit in neatly to my list of Yonex rackets made in Japan.
Since holyurine123 is based in Singapore, I venture to guess the complete cone code to be 130384SP for your MP99.
