I have checked in the information of your Yonex MP99 shaft Serial:7330932; Cone Code:181274SP (date=18 Dec 2007) to my information list of Yonex rackets made in Japan, its shaft serial and cone code are legitimate.

However you still need to inspect the other physical features of the racket carefully and compare the specifications to ascertain its total legitimacy or authenticity yourself.

Hi leehsim,

Thanks a lot for your kind verification. Ur assurance is well appreciated. Thanks a million.

Um, I'm not going to thank you for this ;)

Sometimes it's not enough to post such an observation here.
I wish one of us had been alerted when you made that post.

Reading several hundred posts a day is not the problem.
It's catching up with a fast-moving thread like this one.

I just looked at the seller's completed listings (some racquets sold) and it doesn't look too good. I just looked at the price and pictures and looks pretty suspicious that they're all counterfeits.

This thread is for YOUR serial not checking the serial of a racket you haven't bought yet.

With all due respect, if you're committed to buying a racquet here and WANT to know the authenticity of the serial number BEFORE you buy it, why not have it checked ESPECIALLY when the sale is coming through this forum?

I wrote it down that I haven't paid for it yet out of honesty, but it looks like once again being honest doesn't reward itself. I was WELL AWARE that this isn't meant to be to check for something you haven't purchased YET I need to know this information right now because it could possibly help me sleep better these nights. Not surprisingly, the lack of honesty provides a market that allows production of fake products. Maybe I should've just omitted that part out and avoid the whole "you're not supposed to check items you don't have" altogether.:rolleyes:

I can understand why Lee won't check EBAY sales and stuff like that but come on, this is much more important. You really don't want to see BC forum people ripping off another do you?

Actually this has been brought up before. We don't want any shopping inquiries listed in the thread, even if it's prior to purchase - it is still a shopping inquiry which belongs to the shopping inquiries thread.

Also in general it's a BC member it would be genuine. Specifically, what is the name of the forum member?

I can't believe you guys. You're actually relying on the very system of honesty and rule-following and rule-running to run the forums?

I'm very disappointed.

I suppose it takes a bad transaction for these people upholding these rules to get them to be cautious.

isometric (square head) racquets have been around for many years now and a genuine NS9K would also be squared head like the one in the picture. But at $60USD, I doubt it is a genuine racquet though :(

Well not really. You guys have us to ask questions ultimately. We have caught a few people selling counterfeits before and have been removed.

No need to start questioning us or you could go run the show yourself without us; or have the mod step in. We're doing free work.

Look, in order for this thread to stop derailing, I've decided to post my question in the "shopping enquiries" thread which doesn't have Leehsim looking at the codes... Thanks though.

At least I'm following the rules. The rules are more important, clearly.

this is a counterfeit and SP does not mean "Made in Singapore", it is just where the racket would have been distributed to. the price is just way too good to be true

Yeh i know the price is way to good to be true, but what about the serial number, he is adamant, and swares its genuine, when were the arcsaber 10's brought into production? could the serial be genuine or not? 80 dollars is the starting bid, which is quite high for a fake, and too low to be real, its got time to rise though.

Cone code is false.

It should be DDMMY?DC

Basically, that means that the first 2 digits mean the day it was made, the second two, the month, the 5th digit, the year (after 2000). Nobody knows what the 6th digit is. The two letters are a distribution code, what market the racket was intended for, not where it was made. The Arc10 is always made in Japan, along with the other high end Yonex rackets. You were sort of right about Singapore, SP means south Pacific so you see a lot of these rackets in Singapore and other countries in that region.

You have the shaft and cone serials the wrong way round, the cone is the one with the distribution code (letters) in. It means your racket should have been made on the 20th of June, 2007 and as far as I know, the Arcsaber 10 was not in production at that time. I would say the racket is a fake.

I've lurked around these forums for a while but now I set this up so I can check my racquet. Leehsim, please take a look. No, it's not from ebay. I actually got it as a gift. Thanks.

isn't the so called production date on the cone? its a counterfeit so the day would not be accurate anyways

I may be wrong but all the genuine Arc10s that have been posted were made in 2008. Also, even if they were made in 2007, it would have been at the end of the year in my opinion.

Nope, genuine JP coded rackets come with the black soft cotton bag. Also, I don't think I have seen a genuine Arc10 that was made in 2007, can anyone confirm this as well?

Yes, I know it was released in 2008 but they could have been made in 2007. All I am trying to say is that I have not seen a genuine Arc10 that was produced in 2007 so that is why I think the racket is counterfeit.

Its counterfeit. The Arc10 should not have been manufactured in mid 2007 and also, if it is a JP coded racket, it should come with a soft black cotton bag instead of the usual banana shaped case.

I don't verify rackets bought from eBay because almost all the Yonex rackets from eBay are fake.
Of course the seller is literally swearing all over that this is genuine; if he swears all over that this is fake, no one will buy from him.

I have checked in the information of your Yonex TI10 Titanium Shaft Serial:7037933; Cone Code:240778SP (date=24 Jul 2007)to my information list of Yonex rackets made in Japan, its shaft serial and cone code are legitimate.

However you still need to inspect the other physical features of the racket carefully and compare the specifications to ascertain its total legitimacy or authenticity yourself.

thank you for you help

Hi everyone,

Here is my very first Yonex and I need your help to know whether it is fake or not so that I can send it back to the buyer (Ebay) soon enough.

I know you don't like verifying racket from ebay, I don't like buying yonex from Ebay, either. But this time I have a very good feeling, the Seller has more than 19K (99,9%) feedbacks, there shouldn't be anything wrong with him

I knew that, I want to be honest because I would easily have written something else instead of Ebay (like gift from friend) just in order to be checked.

Btw, I know how the serial thing works and I wonder how Leeshim check the code ? Does he have personal contact with Yonex or something ? Even with a legitimate serial the racket can still be fake, isn't it ? The fake maker can simply copy the code from a real one.

The fake maker can simply copy the code from a real one.

One thing forgotten here, the looks of the racket can determine can genuine and counterfeit within a blink of an eye.

That's why serial alone does alone does not determine that it's genuine unless you can verify the racket's physical features.

The definition of local "buy/sell forum" was not clear to us and was assumed to be referring to a BC member.

There is too many sell forums for both of us to to comprehend.

For the cone code of 040268SP (date=04 Feb 2006), the valid shaft serial should be close to 5953000.

For the shaft serial of 5333715 (which is widely used by fake rackets), the valid cone cone should be something like 200152SP (date=20 Jan 2005).

IMHO, the Yonex Nano Speed 6000 shaft serial: 5333715 cone code : 040268SP (date-04 Feb 2006) is a fake.

shaft serial: 6674137
cone code : 200675SP
price : My Uncle Bought it from Indonesia
Thanks.

For the cone code of 200675SP (date=20 Jun 2007), the valid shaft serial should be close to 6970000.

For the shaft serial of 6674137, the valid cone cone should be something like 06027xSP (date=06 Feb 2007).

IMHO, the Yonex Armortec 700 shaft serial: 6674137 cone code : 200675SP(date-20 Jun 2007) is a fake.

Hmm with my experience with rackets so far im afraid that your racket is fake. the cone code says it was made in 2008, and i tbelive that they have stop production on nanospeeds (i think) but also for only 100 bucks? that cheap for a brandnew racket, new ns9k are 230 a peice so yah its a FAKE.

possibly the right conclusion, but for probably the wrong reason. afaik, the NanoSpeeds are still in production and will be for some time (they are the 2nd 'latest' model behind the ArcSabers anyhoo). 100 is too cheap for a brand new racket unless he is sponsored by Yonex and reselling them at close to cost or sponsor price, then there are other issues to consider (e.g. breach of contract?). imo, the reason for this racket possibly being a fake is that the shaft serial is out of whack - this one is 3748033 but should be around the 7xxxxxx mark for a 2008-production racket. leehsim will confirm this for you.

Some people actually do. I remember seeing one Chinese ebay seller who stated that the rackets were "clone made" in his listings.

Hey, those sellers who say their rackets are OEM/Clone are the semi-good hearted sellers... It's a tip-off for those in the know ie THIS IS A FAKE!

I do wish they would stop using the word clone. It makes life difficult for the average Joe who does not know the difference between fake (A racket painted as a Yonex but not made/associated with Yonex in any way) and clone (a racket which is painted to look like a particular Yonex model, and claims to have similar chacteristics but is branded under their true brandname ie APACS, Fleet, Tactic etc etc).

I'll buy a clone anyday....but never a fake.

Could you please check this Yonex Arcsaber 7 Serial and let me know early as possible please?

racket model: Yonex Arcsaber
shaft serial: 7653639
cone code : 090583UK
source : From ebay.co.uk
price :GBP 87

I thought I read somewhere on this thread that leehsim does not verify codes sourced from Ebay.

Please correct me if I am mistaken..

Can not understand what is Craiglist; name of company? name of BC Forum member? eBay seller ID Name?
It's a website for classified advertisements -- a different sort of 'ebay' :)
The site is actually Craigslist (http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites) (but 'Craiglist' will redirect to the same site)

I guess I was just feeling rich and stupid, but I got a free fake racket and bag out of it :p

Hi Jamothy - How did you get your money back? Did it take long? Did you send the fake back to the seller?

Just curious...

I used the Dispute function through PayPal, The seller had a very high rating and was a power seller, and so saying I had professionals take a look at detailed pictures of the racket and check the serial numbers to confirm they were fake wouldn't bode well for them, so I demanded a refund. They refunded my money and asked me not to comment or leave negative feedback. After I made sure my cash was back I left negative feedback warning all buyers and reported them to eBay! A little blackmail goes a long, long way.

P.S Even got to keep the piece of crap they sent me. Already broke it. Shattered on the first rim shot smash!

I have checked in the information of your Yonex Muscle power 10 Light Shaft Serial:9980755; Cone Code:060584ID (date=06 May 2008) to my information list of Yonex rackets Developed by Yonex Japan (on the shaft) and Made in Taiwan (on the cap), its shaft serial and cone code are legitimate.

However you still need to inspect the other physical features of the racket carefully and compare the specifications to ascertain its total legitimacy or authenticity yourself.

Good on you on all fronts!! At least they were good on the refund but I would have left the negative feedback as well. Cheeky burgers!

BTW, there are sellers of real Yonex products on Ebay. I commented on two in these forums the other day, but buyers just need to know what to look for. If anyone is unsure, then it is best to stay away from Ebay.

someone verified the EXACT same shaft serial as yours a page or two back. did you make a new account because you both have the same location? if so, you're looking to get yourself in trouble here.
