View Full Version : Post YOUR Yonex Serial Numbers Here (No eBay Enquiries) - Read Post#1 First!
Don't fall for drifit's words! My guess is that the cone codes are stamped rather than laser engraved. This is a more popular serial numbering technique used by Yonex back in the days (prior to year 2000, your code means it was made on the 5th November 1999) when the laser engraved technology was not as advanced or popular yet.
My Ti-10 which was also made during that time has the same serial numbering style (no code on the shaft either), so don't sell that racquet at a low price!
Give that racket to him lol! Yeah most likely it's a genuine pre-2000 racket.

cone code : 210613SP

-----------------------------------------
racket model: Yonex Ti10 SP (1st Gen)
shaft serial: none
cone code : 051194
source : Malaysia

Both racquets were bought a long time ago. Suspect that the 2nd racquet is fake as there is no shaft code... I compared the 2 racquests using the Yonex guide but could not find any differences.
Thanks in advance!
I have checked in the information of your Yonex Ti10 SP (1st Gen) shaft Serial:3140576; Cone Code:210613SP (date=21 Jun 2001) to my information list of Yonex rackets made in Japan, its shaft serial and cone code are legitimate.
However you still need to inspect the other physical features of the racket carefully and compare the specifications to ascertain its total legitimacy or authenticity yourself.
Unable to verified the 2nd TI10 except that the cone code 051194 indicats the racket's date as 05 Nov 1999.

Looks pretty fake to me. The serial number is too low for the manufacture date. Pretty expensive one too.

If I'm correct, the low-end rackets go by a different serial system unlike the high ends. Since it is low-end, highly doubtful that people would counterfeit a NS100. Price checking one, about $60 USD.

Serial number is too low for the 9900 which was released in 2009. This means the date of manufacture is also wrong as the 5th digit of the cone code should be a 9 (2009) or can be a 0 if produced in 2010 but since the month is October that's impossible.
IMO a fake.

Quite interesting actually (initially thought the serial was the same). Bought from Luxis, the other one that guy listed was a 1st gen Ti-10 JP (http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1044496&postcount=5896) that does have the 39xxxxx serial for september 2009 also from Luxis. Obviously CP are not regular retail so ... but normally they seem to fit the regular numbers scheme. Anomaly?

Repost. Sorry for the confusion, I was helping a friend check and she swore there were only six numbers on the shaft serial. Turns out that the paint covered the 7 partially and she thought it was a forward slash "/" and didn't tell me about it. Thanks a bunch!

Thank you Leehsim.
The Armortec 900T I purchased from Directsports felt different to the other one I already have.
1 - first 2 digits of the shaft code overlaps the "CS Cap"
2 - the 4UG4 is engraved. I checked 3 other Yonex rackets along with the 2 I have, they all have as black sticker..
3 - if i gently scratch the head of the racket where the red paint meets the black, can clearly feel a layer there.
The other Armortec 900T I have didn't, was completely smooth.
4 - the newer one feels heavier, even though they're both 4U but doesn't swing as good.
Would that be enough to prove it's fake?

If you copied the code correctly then this is a counterfeit. Shaft serial way too low for the date produced.

True, I don't think the 800 was manufactured any more in 2008 so that would be another indication.

Hmm, they still haven't fixed it. Anyways, here is the date code format.
DDMMYxCC
dd = Day
mm = Month
Y = Year
x = Batch number (ignore this)
CC = Country code

I was under the impression the recent NS9900 for UK market started again with the serial numbers. Checked this forum but there are no recent UK rackets to compare against.
Gullane Sports/Rapid Repairs are an authorised Yonex distributor so would be very surprised if something was amiss.

I belive the code is UK cause I can see part of the U, the rackets serials are not legit, the way the date is on the racket actually doesn't look even, on the racket, (not straight from what I can see, I would contact yonex uk, and rapid repairs, by email, and just explain what you have found

To be honest with you... that serial looks stamped not lazer engraved but it's hard to tell for sure with the picture quality.
I also find it hard to believe that the Yonex Japan plant would restart the serial numbers for just one region. They would more likely just add another number and go to 8 digits instead of 7 but that's just my guess.

It's Japan on the green cap. I was a bit keen on applying the overgrip - can remove if this yields any additional info?
It actually fits that pattern - 1338 rackets in 83 days though. Couldn't be full time production.

Remove the standard grip if you're willing but probably not a good idea if you have any intentions of returning it/trade it in for a different one. There should be a barcode sticker underneath ...

Checking for authenticity does not require the same model or distribution code. I've read through the posts and it seems that other BCF members have bought genuine products from that store and I don't think (I'm not totally sure though) a couterfeit UK coded racket has been spotted yet here on BCF. But if you did not copy the serial and code correctly, then I'm pretty sure its counterfeit.

Ryim, that doesn't really make sense. The codes posted are those on the racket. As mentioned there hasn't yet been a UK coded counterfeit and I'd be nothing short of amazed if the chosen distibution method for such a counterfeit was one of Yonex UK's authorised stockists with 30+ years standing.
I'm pretty comfotable the racket is genuine (unless anyone can offer any clear evidence to the contrary, other than the codes), but clearly the numbers are different to those currently referred to so some forther discussion is welcome.
Lastly, I'm not the only one with a racket coded thus. It would be more than coincidence in my opinion.

A few things that I would like to highlight in this case.
Firstly, I would not know what codes are laser engraved on your racket. However, the serial and date code you posted were in indeed counterfeit. The reason I say that is because there have been rackets manufactured after yours (27-Oct-09) and the serials did not start over again. Is there a logical reason that they started over? At least I can't think of any.
The best solution is to post close up pictures so we can all inspect whether the racket is genuine or not. Even though there has not been any counterfeit UK coded rackets to date, it does not mean that this one is genuine.

Mark,
I have no reason to believe that your racquet is a counterfeit, since you have posted the photo of the handle with the appropriate Yonex bar code sticker. I have owned a generous amount of genuine Yonex racquets from most of the production periods and the statement about checking for the bar code sticker in question was indeed written by me. Remember me stating that "most people are too ignorant to understand what this sticker means"?

I guess the next question (assuming there is agreement the racket is genuine) is where did it come from and why do the numbers differ. Apologies if this matter is stealing away from the true nature of this thread.

With due respect Ryim, I'm not going to back someone on an internet forum over a company I (and thousands of players in the UK) have a lot of respect for on the basis that you don't think it makes sense the numbers should have restarted (I'm very aware of what the numbers say, but they aren't out of sequence.... they are altogether different is my point).
As already mentioned, there is an NZ coded Arcsaber Z-Spark with a similar date and a similar serial, which hints that there may in fact be a second production line for high end Yonex rackets. I can't rule that out, and until Yonex UK tell me otherwise, I stand by the racket being genuine. Clearly I may be wrong, but the balance of the evidence is in my favour at the moment (in my opinion).
Cheers

However you still need to inspect the other physical features of the racket carefully and compare the specifications to ascertain its total legitimacy or authenticity yourself.

Cheers
Mark
Any news from Yonex UK ? I am interested to find out, what the conclusion is, my barcode was similar to that one, however when I put karakal ripple grip on it, and the removed it a month later, bit of I ripped off, so it I isn't complete anymore (but still legit)

Nothing major in terms of update - Yonex UK can't confirm an individual racket other than by checking it against the same items in their warehouse. The guy I spoke with did this and confirmed all other NS9900 items had serial starting 88 or 89. Next port of call is for him to check with Yonex Japan to determine what, if any, reason could account for my serial. I guess this will take several days at the very least.
I also spoke with the shop owner who confirmed the batch of rackets came directly from Yonex UK (and I have no reason to doubt this) and that the remaining NS9900 have cone codes 88 and 89.
In a little bit of a funny position to be honest. The shop were very keen to find out the answer too but guess I need to wait on Yonex Japan giving an answer. I get the impression the presence of that barcode on the handle (what was the deal with the screw as well?) indicates a genuine item but the question on the serial remains for now.
Will update when I can.
Cheers

also, the paint job on the shaft seems off, i have posted a link to the pic. don't worry, the flickr account is indeed mine.
many thanks in advance.

Yes you can have the same cone code, the cone code just lists the date of manufacture and I'm quite sure they make more than 1 Arc10 a day.
