I am quite new to Toronto and don't know much of the places around. I would say I am an Intermediate player and would love to play hard games. I am looking for adult/young players to hang around with in downtown Toronto area. I can play either in the mornings, afternoons and evenings. I can play 3-4 times a week. I like long hours of play since I am used to playing 6-10 games per session (or about 3-6 hours of play). Also, can you recommend me where are the courts available in this area? Kindly give me your contact number so I could get in touch with you or you may also email me at bzchiu@yahoo.com

The best place to drop in downtown toronto is George Brown badminton club. You'll find lots of competition there! Do a forum search for detailed info, but basic stuff is 7-10(or 10:30) Tues,Thurs and 4-8 Sun, it's located on King St east of Jarvis. It's $8 drop in now (i think) and you bring your own feather birds. More expensive than other clubs but you get a lot better games too. I don't think there's anywhere publicly available in downtown to just play openly on booked courts - you need to go to a group badminton time.

I can confirm that the guest fee is $8 for drop in. The people are pretty friendly and the games are awfully competitive right BobbyGeneric ??? The club also offers coaching sessions on sundays from 1-4pm at a fair price too. If you have the energy, train for 3 hrs on sunday and afterwards play games from 4-8..

For more information about this and other clubs in ontario can be found on the OBA website:

If you drop by make sure you wave a hello to the "loud" chinese guy wearing a headband and Oakley protective eyewear .
