Hello folks! Here goes the translation:

CANDRA PAIRED UP WITH SIGIT

Men's doubles player Candra Wijaya is confirmed to be pairing up with Sigit Budiarto to strengthen the Indonesian team this coming Thomas Cup Tournament in Japan at the end of this month.

The confirmation came from Ketua Bidang Pembinaan Prestasi (Kabid Binpres) PB PBSI Rudy Hartono at Pelatnas Cipayung, East Jakarta who said that Sigit is ready to compete.

"Sigit is physically ready, his coach also said so. We will decide further when we know who we are going up against over there." said Rudy who added that Sigit was who previously injured is recovering well.

The same was said by Kasub Bid Pelatnas Lius Pongoh who said that Candra will not be paired up with another doubles player Flandy Limpele as planned when Sigit was injured.

"Now I can also confirm that Candra will be pairing up with Sigit because as it turned out Flandy is also experiencing knee injury." said Lius

Lius also said that the team which is departing 24th April will be the same as the team which went for the qualifications in Jaipur, India in February.

They are Taufik Hidayat, Sony Dwi Kuncoro, Simon Santoso and Marcus Wijanu for men's singles and Candra/Sigit, Luluk Hadiyanto/Alvent Yulianto dan Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan for the doubles.

As for Sigit's knee injury before qualifications and Taufik's waist injury before the ABC, Lius admitted that they are not 100%. "But hopefully when the time comes to compete they will give a good performance."

THERE IS STILL A CHANCE

With a team which is not in peak condition, Rudy hopes that will not dampen their spirits in this most prestigious team tournament.

"I hope to every player with the conditions we are given, this will not make them lose their self-confidence because no matter how small there is still a chance."

"I don't want this opportunity to be missed. We really have to 'fight'." add Rudy who won the All England eight times and the Thomas Cup four times with Indonesia.

Asked about the lessons learnt from the team's failure to retain the Thomas Cup in Jakarta two years ago, Rudy said that this failure is because they were missing doubles' targets.

"We cannot let go of the doubles this time. If we do...then that's it." said Rudy who hopes two points from the doubles when they are in Japan. He reckons that the three pairs have a good performance on the international stage.

Candra/Sigit are currently world no. 2, Luluk/Alvent world no. 4 while Markis/Kido are no. 12 in the world. For the singles, Taufik is no. 9, Sony 20, Simon 27 and Marcus is ranked 115.

The remaining two weeks will focus on how to maintain strategy during competition and making sure that the physical condition doesn't go down, also not to train too hard until players experience injury or fatigue.

"The exercises will be specific to the players' concerns/weaknesses. Some qill require heavy training, while some will just be training normally." he said.
