thank you. It's surprise me INA wd Purwati/jauhari compete here. They are runner up at Jakarta satelit last 2 weeks. I don't see any strong pair in woman doubles. Hope they can reach final than meet nadya/nitya again. :)

any some results for the 20th April?

All Indo players are through to the next round.

MEN'S SINGLES
Tommy Sugiarto (9/16) vs Chong Wei Feng -- Tommy should be able to go through to the quarter-final

Nguyen Tien Minh (3/4) vs Alamsyah Yunus -- interesting match and the experienced Minh should win. The winner of this match should face Ronald Susilo in the quarter-final.

Hazwan Jamaludin vs Jeffer Rosobin (3/4) -- no problem for Jeffer

Andre Kurniawan vs Saman Ismail -- the Malaysian beat the second seeded Poompat earlier.

MEN'S DOUBLES
Sudket Prapakamol/Phattapol Ngernsrisuk (1) vs Rendra Wijaya/Frans Kurniawan -- tough match against the no 1 seed and more experienced Thai pair

Yoga Ugikasah/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki (3/4) vs Chan Kwong Beng/Lim Fang Yang -- shouldn't be too much of a problem for Yoga/Yonathan

Hendra Gunawan/Joko Riyadi (2) vs Songphon Anukritayawan/Nattapon Naktong -- likewise, the 2nd-seed Hendra/Joko should face no problem.

WOMEN'S DOUBLES
Nitya Krishinda/Nadya Melati (3/4) vs Wong Sin Yee/Koon Wai Chee -- Nitya/Nadya had a bye in the first round and face a tricky tie against the more experienced but newly formed HK pair of Wong/Koon. Hopefully the Indo pair can win.

Purwati/Meiliana Jauhari vs Le Thi Than Thuy/Thai Thi Hong Gam -- Purwati/Meiliana should win.

Quarter-Final Results for Indonesian players:

Chan Yan Kit (1) bt Tommy Sugiarto (9/16) 21-19, 19-21, 21-18 -- wow...3 close sets...a good effort by Tommy.

Jeffer Rosobin (3/4) bt Lee Cheol Ho (5/8) 21-18, 21-11 -- Jeffer always has good results in Satellite tournaments. He will likely win today, facing an unknown Korean youngster.

Hwang Jung Woon bt Andre Kurniawan 22-20, 15-21, 21-15 -- again, good effort by the Indonesian youngster. Hope he fares better in the coming Thailand Satellite.

Yoga Ugikasah/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki (3/4) bt Yousuke Shinkai/Naoki Kawame (5/8) 21-18, 21-16 -- another semi-final placing for the Indonesian young pair where they will face a tough test against the no 1 seed Sudket/Phattapol.

Albertus Susanto Njoto/Yohan Wiratama Hadikusumo bt Hendra Gunawan/Joko Riyadi (2) 21-18, 13-21, 21-19 -- arghh....a close defeat in the third set for the no 2 seed. Well, to be fair, the Indonesian-born HK pair is newly formed but they are more experienced. It seems that Yohan is now playing doubles...and this pair looks pretty promising. Hope Hendra/Joko will reach at least the final next week!

Nitya Krishinda/Nadya Melati (3/4) bt Wong Khe Wei/Ng Hui Lin 21-16, 21-19 -- another good result for Nitya/Nadya and they face the no 1 seed, Duang-Anong/Kulchala next....should be pretty interesting and I hope the Indo youngsters win!

Purwati/Meiliana Jauhari bt Wong Man Ching/Chow Hoi Wah (2) 21-17, 21-19 -- well well....seems like Indonesia has 2 promising women's doubles pair now...with the steady rise of Nitya/Nadya and Purwati/Meiliana. Both have won satellite tournaments...and we could well be having yet another all-Indonesian final tomorrow. But first, Purwati/Meiliana have a tough test against the young Korean pair of Kim Min Jung/Oh Seul Ki

MEN'S SINGLES SEMI-FINAL
Chan Yan Kit vs Nguyen Tien Minh
Jeffer Rosobin vs Hwang Jung Woon

MEN'S DOUBLES SEMI-FINAL
Sudket Prapakamol/Phattapol Ngernsrisuk vs Yoga Ugikasah/Yonathan Suryatamadasuki
Khoo Chung Kiat/Abdul Latif Mohd Razif vs Albertus Susanto Njoto/Yohan Wiratama Hadikusumo

WOMEN'S DOUBLES SEMI-FINAL
Duang-Anong Arunkesorn/Kulchala Worawichitchaikul vs Nitya Krishinda/Nadya Melati

I don't think Purwati/Meliana is promosing doubles pair. They have kick out from PBSI. N now they are just a club player. I think they will be like Silvi Antarini. She had surprise us due to be a finalis in Asian Championship 2003 but kick off from PBSI.

Great news for Vietnam badminton! Honestly, I have never heard of him before the SEA Games. Yet, he performed well in recent months, starting from the Jaipur qualifying campaign by nearly beating Taufik. He continued his good performance at the ABC by beating Shoji Sato. He fully deserves a title in his home satellite tournament after solid wins over Ronald Susilo, Chan Yan Kit, and Jeffer Rosobin. With the Vietnam Open (1*) to be played later this year, I am sure Minh will continue to do well.

Let's see if he participates in next week's Thailand Satellite.

Nguyen Tien Minh (left) gained victory at the just concluded Robot-HCMC Asian Satellite 2006. Tien Minh outplayed his Indonesian opponent, Jeffer Rosobin winning straight games 21-7, 21-12. This is his second Satellite title since his extraordinary feat winning the 2004 Magnum Malaysia Satellite with a shocking win against Malaysian, Lee Tsuen Seng. But winning it at home ground, in front of local spectators, gave him the highest satisfaction according to Tien Minh. Besides a share in the tournament price money, he also received V$ 5 million from a local pop star & another V$ 15 million from Mr. Le Dang Xu, vice president of Vietnam BF.

The other 4 remaining event titles is shared between Korea & Thailand. Jang Soo Young took the women's singles title where she defeated Salakjit Ponsana of Thailand 21-15, 17-21, 21-19, while her fellow compatriots Kim Min Jung & Oh Seul Ki outplayed Thai pair of Duanganong Aroonkesorn & Kunchala Voravichitchaikul, 23-21, 12-21, 21-9.

Thailand came strong in the men's & mixed doubles events by winning both titles, where Sudket Prapakamol & Phattapol Ngernsrisuk defeated Njoto Albertus Susanto & Wiratama Yohan Hadikusumo (HKG), while Songphon Anukritiyawon & Kunchala Voravichitchaikul won over Malaysian pair of Razif Abdul Latif & Norsyahliza Baharum, respectively.

Nah...it just happened that this pair has left an impression on me. The scoreline fully reflected my earlier comment that these 2 pairs are evenly matched. Yoga/Yonathan won in 3 close sets: 17-21, 21-19, 21-19.

I personally think that apart from Hoon/Tan, Khoo/Abdul Latif could well emerge as yet another one of Team Malaysia's men's doubles pair in the near future.

I think Sony or Simon will not find it easy beating Nguyen Tien Minh. He has the potential to rise to at least the top 25-30.
