(just returning the favor, Mag. :)

how come everyone talks about the ab900 instead of the ab1000? how do they compare? i have never used Carlton rackets before and am curious how they play.

i like stiff medium racket with slight head heavy. i can play either 2U or 3U depending on the day...

how much are the ab900 and ab1000 in HK?

I've blabbed so much about the 900, but here I go again: :)

I have both racquets. Both are great, but I definitely favour the AB900. The 1000 is lighter (84g) than the 900 (89g), slightly stiffer and a little less head heavy. And quite frankly, I don't think the AB1000 is very durable... I guess they had to take something out to make it that light. My 1000 is in quite an appaling state... that is, there's nothing structurally wrong with it but it looks like something from a Mad Max movie. Chips, dents, varnish coming off in flakes, scratches... The Ab900 on the other hand seems rock solid. Hardly a scratch yet, despite of some nasty doubles clashes...

I think the AB1000 is something of a failure for Carlton. It's not significantly better than it's predecessor, the Aerogear 1000FX (I've got both and actually I like the AG100FX better), but the AB1000 is definitely more fragile... And I guess that's the reason why Carlton seems to have discontinued it.

The AB900 is my all-time favorite. For net play my MP100 comes up on top, but on smashes and base-to-base clearing the 900 wins. It's got a lot of character, so I suggest you try it first... of course!

I don't know about HK prices though.

If I am correct, Ab 900 is $500 in SOGO, but I do not know the price of ab1000. If the price of ab900 is correct, I think you get cheaper in other rackets shops.

I totally agree with Mag,

I think the Ab 900 is way beter than the Ab 1000. I have the Ab 2000 though and i think it is def the best among the AB number series.

I am amazed to know that rackets are way costlier in HK. It costs abt 3000 rs in indian money if i conveert it. But u can get the racket for 1800 rs In india.I.e abt 300 HK $

Great deal i guess.

You should get it with cheaper price in Mongkok for this model. In addition, there is 10% discount by default in Sogo.

Actually, cost of racquet is not that high, but if you buy from Sogo, then ...
