PETALING JAYA: National number one Lee Chong Wei will not feature in a simulated Thomas Cup tie among players in the training camp in Kuching at the Bumiputera Association Hall today.
“Chong Wei is not feeling well and he will be replaced by Lee Tsuen Seng,” said chief coach Yap Kim Hock in a telephone interview from Kuching last night.
The other players in the team for the Finals, which will be held in Japan from April 28-May 7, will be in action in three singles and two doubles matches before the team break camp and return to Kuala Lumpur on Friday.
Besides Chong Wei, the other singles players in the team are Wong Choong Hann, Mohd Hafiz Hashim and Kuan Beng Hong. The doubles pairs are Chan Chong Ming-Koo Kien Keat, Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah and Chew Choon Eng-Tan Boon Heong.
In the final phase of the preparation for Thomas Cup Finals, players of the national squad have been in centralised training in Kuching since April 5. The squad for the Finals will leave for Japan on Sunday.
