Does anyone like this malaysian pair? They have been playing together for 12 years but still haven't achieved any big titles.Their major achievements are 4th place in Olympic games 2000 (Their first Olympic debut), All england runner-up 2004 and 2006, world number1 in 2004, world championship (not too sure, 3rd place probably), unbeaten in Thomas cup 2004 and 2006. Their peak form was in 2004 where they bet many top pairs in tournaments and All England title was almost in their grip. Would love to see them winning the world championship this year. Hopefully...

They are actually one of the best doubles pair around. But its really unfortunate that everytime that they are playing at their best... injury comes along. Thats why they never manage to win any major titles..

Won the Malaysian Open 2004 by beating Alven/Luluk. This win was very important for them to build their confidence again, according to Tan Fook and Wan Wah, after their All England Final 2004 nightmare.

Wan Wah couldn't help feeling sad after they lost to Candra/Sigit in Thomas cup final 1998 and Malaysia lost eventually. It was their first thomas cup debut as 2nd mens double. I guess that most players would cry if they lost in their first thomas cup.

Yap, you are right. They were in good form in 2002 and 2004 but then Wan Wah and Tan Fook got injured after their good run in tournaments. Wan Wah had undergone 2 operations and Tan Fook had a knee injury too.

I started to like them after watching them playing a great game against Cai/Fu in AE 2004 semi-final and i like them more now after the thomas cup 2006. Still remember watching them playing in Thomas cup 98 final, they were fast but lacked skills and Indonesia was impressed by their speed after the match.Park Joo Bong had predicted them to become one of the top men doubles in the future ( when they were young then) but sadly, they haven't won any big titles yet.

Glad that people supporting these double pair. I would say that they still have plenty of time ahead of them to prove their ability. They are still not old compared to the top Danish and Indonesian double players. They have prove their worthiness in the recent games and I have to say that I can't wait seeing them play again in WC in Madrid. Hope that they could keep up with the good work ! :p

They are certainly the pair to watch out for in the coming tournaments. But, judging from LWW recent exposure, I suppose by shredding a few kgs from his waistline may result in more shifter movements.
It is unfair that the media is always on about LWW age. 32 isn't the end of the world! Look at the Danes top MD, they are even more ancient. LWW/CTF will definitely shine in the WC in Madrid later this year.

They're my favorite men's doubles pair and one of the best men's doubles players IMO. It's unfortunate that for whatever reason they have not won as much tournaments as they should have considering their skill and talent. Coming back to the top level after 2 knee operations shows strength of will and determination (for LWW). I just hope that they are able to have at least one major tournament before they retire.

Haha:D ! I still remember during Ipoh Master 2000. All the player like taufik, Rexy, LWW & CTF, Roslin ...had went to Jusco ( Ipoh) to met their fans. Then i had ask CTF to giv me his phone number, and he really give his HP number to me. Then i felt so surprised, i straight away ask him "You lie to me, is not ur real phone number". Then he answer me" No, is really my phone number"
( he only giv it to me and another girl, and remind us to keep it as secret :D ) Then i've try to call that number, the person who answer the phone is really CTF.

Well, i just want to say, CTF is very funny and treat his fans good!!;)

They had beaten Kim/Ha a few times alr.But it seems like the malaysian fans appreciate SOon Kit/Kim Hock more than this duo, although both pairs also alwiz end up as runner-ups. One of the reason which i can think of is that there were only 2 competitve MD pairs during Soon Kit/Kim Hock time but after that generation, there are a lot of MD top pairs which have a very close standard compared to each other. So LWW/CTF had never become the centre of attention of badminton fans.Currently they are not as popular as Kien Kiat too.Maybe they need to have a cuter face and become cooler too on the court if they wanted to be popular.Anyway, i like their way now and their style of playing.

LWW/CTF duo is definitely better than Cheah Sook Kit/Yap Kim Hock....actually CSK is probably the most over-rated, look at Mal womens team, he cannot produce any results. Even Holland and Germany womens teams made it to Uber Cup semi-finals and Mal is still .....you know what I mean.

But Wong Pei Tye and Tan Yee Hui have really improved a lot under his coaching and the malaysian women singles are not Soon Kit's charges. Anyway, Soon Kit was really good when he was young where he helped Malaysia to cruise into Thomas cup Finals in 1988 and 1990 with his partner Ong Beng Teong.

Exactly, does Holland and Germany womens teams have the best doubles or singles coaches ??? Of course not...but I am sure they train right and they train smart. Now look at Cheah Soon Keat, what has he achieved so far ? He could be the top doubles player in his time but I have to say good player does not make good coach by default. If Mal womens team wants to show results, hire some coaches from China or Korea and learn from them.

Yes i agree with u (CHibe K)...Cheah Soon Kit is good but i his times The 90's...And not now.You look at the china womens players, they seldom play defensive style but attacking style. They keep make u to commit mistake nad pressure the opponents players.,but when u look at the malaysians, they are more into defensive style of play nad they are lack of stamina and skills. And the second matter is, Cheah soon kit takes few years to produce a womens doubles pair that can really play..The second and third doubles are lousy compare to denmark , netherlands or even england...

Tan Fook wants a third Olympic Games appearance
By LIM TEIK HUAT

PETALING JAYA: Veteran doubles pair Choong Tan Fook has been given the option of becoming a coach but he is not about to take up the offer yet.
For Tan Fook, the desire to play in top-level badminton competitions is still burning strong and he wants to take a shot at making a third Olympics appearance in Beijing next year.
Tan Fook partnered Wan Wah to retain their Asian Badminton Championships (ABC) title in Johor Baru last week and the win has also boosted their confidence to achieve their goals.
Doubles head coach Rexy Mainaky has entered Tan Fook-Wan Wah for the Singapore and Indonesia Opens next month, which would be the first two tournaments to offer ranking points to qualify for the 2008 Olympics.
http://thestar.com.my/archives/2007/4/22/sports/s_59wanwah.jpg Back on track: Tan Fook (right) and Wan Wah retained their ABC crown last week.
The two meets will also be an opportunity for the veteran pair to maintain their current ranking position ahead of the World Championships to be held in Kuala Lumpur in August.
Tan Fook-Wan Wah and Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong have sealed their place for the world meet by virtue of being ranked sixth and seventh respectively in the latest world rankings.
“We have qualified but it is not enough yet. We will aim to stay inside the top eight at least to get a good seeding for the world championships. It would also ensure that we do not face any top pairs until the quarter-finals,” said Tan Fook.
The seeds for the world meet will only be determined by the world rankings on Aug 2.
There is now greater competition among the doubles players since Rexy took charge two years ago and Malaysia can now boast of entering the most number of doubles pairs each time a Super Series tournament is held.
Joining Tan Fook-Wan Wah for the Singapore Open are Kien Keat-Boon Heong, Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari-Mohd Zakry Latif, Gan Teik Chai-Lin Woon Fui, Chan Chong Ming-Hoon Thien How and Tan Bin Shen-Ong Soon Hock.
“This is good because the country do not have to worry if Wan Wah and I are not able to play anymore.
“The coach (Rexy) has informed us that we will get our chances to compete in tournaments as long as we can still challenge for honours. It is a fair challenge for us.
“I will consider a coaching role perhaps after the Olympics but if I can still challenge the younger players, I will not give up.”
The challenge has been laid down for Tan Fook-Wan Wah in the Singapore Open to try to set up an all-Malaysian semi-final affair against Kien Keat-Boon Heong from the bottom half of the draw.
They are seeded sixth and will face team-mates Chong Ming-Thien How in the first round.
Danish second seeds Jen Eriksen-Martin Lundgaard Han-sen should await the Malay-sian pair if they reach the last eight.
Kien Keat-Boon Heong also faces a tricky opening round against Fairuzizuan-Zakry.

Today is Tan Fook’s big day

THE Malaysian Open will always have a special spot in the heart of veteran doubles shuttler Choong Tan Fook.
He fell in love with China’s formidable doubles player Zhang Jiewen at the 2004 event. And today, they will officially register their marriage in Kuala Lumpur.

Lovebirds: Tan Fook and Jiewen will wed today.
“It will be special day. Finally, I am making it official. We will certainly remember the Malaysian Open forever,” he said.
Tan Fook-Wan Wah lost in the opening round of the ongoing Malaysian Open to Mak Hee Chun-Tan Wee Kiong on Wednesday.

“I wanted it to be a very special occasion and I am happy that many were able to attend our wedding. I am also thrilled that our Thomas-Uber team members managed to take time off to join in this ceremony,” said a delighted Tan Fook.
Tan Fook, whose love affair with the Olympic champion blossomed in 2004, said that the world meet in Paris would mark an end to his decade-long badminton career.
“I have finally decided that the world meet in Paris will be my final shot at winning glory for the country. Then, I will move on,” said Tan Fook, who had reached the semi-finals twice in 2001 in Seville and 2007 in Kuala Lumpur.
“Of course, I will want to do well with Wan Wah. I want it to be the most memorable one.”

Hehe, not really lah :D
KKK/TBH can play high level of badminton most of the time, only sometimes their defense is horrible, like Swiss Open '10 final and also Japan Open '09 first round where they can lose to average badminton players.

Mak/Tan still not very consistent yet, but maybe in 1 or 2 years time then they can shine. Hopefully. They shown in the BAC that they are world class shuttlers by beating Hayakawa Kenichi and Kazuno Kenta while also giving Taiwan Harry Potter a good fight. They also beat Fuzzy recently :D

I don't know about the rest.
