Ok guys...the draws are out! No top Chinese or Korean players in the main draw, with Malaysia pleyers as the top seed in Men' singles.

I will just analyze the draws in MS.

MEN'S SINGLES
QUARTER 1:

HASHIM Muhd Hafiz B (1)
LEE Yen Hui Kendrick (9-16)
CHAN Yan Kit (5-8)
LEE Tsuen Seng (9-16)

HASHIM Muhd Hafiz, untroubled. His first tough tie will be against LEE Yen Hui Kendrick . I think HASHIM Muhd Hafiz beat LEE easily .:D CHAN Yan Kit will bye in the first round and a relatively easier tie in the second round. Then, he will possibly meet Lee Tsuen Tseng in the third round.

PREDICTION: No question about it, HASHIM Muhd Hafiz to qualify

QUARTER 2:

PONSANA Boonsak (3-4)
ROSOBIN ~ Jeffer (9-16)
SMITH Andrew (5-8)
KHRISHNAN Yogendran (9-16)

PONSANA Boonsak ,he faces PAWAR Anand , and should face ROSOBIN ~ Jeffer in the third round.
The winner between SMITH Andrew and KHRISHNAN Yogendran will meet PONSANA Boonsak for a QF match.

PREDICTION: PONSANA Boonsak to qualify

QUARTER 3:

HARIYANTO * Agus (9-16)
ANAND Chetan (5-8)
NGUYEN Tien Minh (9-16)
KUAN Beng Hong (3-4)

KUAN Beng Hong has a pretty untroubled route to the semi-final, ANAND Chetan, who won CG medals (winning the bronze medals in both team and individual event ). The winner between ANAND Chetan and HARIYANTO * Agus will meet KUAN Beng Hong.

PREDICTION: KUAN Beng Hong should have a higher chance against ANAND or HARIYANTO.

QUARTER 4:
SAPKULCHANANART Poompat (9-16)
AYOB Sairul Amar (5-8)
PEI Wei Chung (MAS) (9-16)
NG WEI(2)

PREDICTION: SAPKULCHANANART Poompat will beat NG Wei.

SAPKULCHANANART Poompat to Storm through the semi-final

FINAL PREDICTION: PONSANA or HASHIM VS KUAN Beng Hong.
(The winner between PONSANA and HASHIM will win)

I have some doubt whether Kuan can pass Nguyen. I think Nguyen and Anand have as good as chance as Kuan to survive from this quarter.

QUARTER 4:
SAPKULCHANANART Poompat (9-16)
AYOB Sairul Amar (5-8)
PEI Wei Chung (MAS) (9-16)
NG WEI(2)

I think Ng Wei can stand up to other opponents. Poompat may have trouble against Sairol; I rate them as quite equal.

Philippine Opens has opened on yesterday but there's absolutely no match update on this forum. Too "minor" a competition to bother?

Basically the matches was good.. see many new faces and old faces. In terms of actions.. not much.. Philippines did fairly well. Win most of the matches. Malaysia's top seeds will play today.

All the Indonesian players involved in yesterday's matches also went through to the next round.

It's good to see both Firda and Nana beat their first round opponents yesterday. Firda beat Soratja Chansrisukot in 3 sets: 14-21, 21-15, 21-10, while Nana beat Norshahliza Baharum in straight sets: 21-16, 21-18. Both will be tested severely yet again by Thailand and Malaysian players. Firda will face Julia Wong while Nana will play against Salakjit Ponsana. It will be a bonus if both can enter quarter-final.

In the men's singles, Markus Wijanu beat Eric Go yesterday and will face Nguyen Tien Minh today. It will be a miracle for him to beat the fastly improving Viet.

As for the men's and women's doubles, both Rendra Wijaya/Frans Kurniawan and Rani Mundiasti and Endang Nur Sugianti went through to Round 1/16 without any troubles. Both face tough opponents today. Rendra/Frans will play against Albertus Susanto Njoto/Yohan Wiratama Hadikusumo, while Rani/Endang will play against Fong Chew Yen/Ooi Sock Ai. It will also be a bonus if both can win their matches today.

The other men's doubles and women's doubles pairs will also be involved today. Hendra Gunawan/Joko Riyadi and Jo Novita/Greysia Polii should have no problem against their Phil and USA opponents. Lita Nurlita/Nathalia Poluakan has a tricky tie against the Jap pair Yasuyo Imabeppu/Sachiyo Imai. Yoga Ugikasah/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki will face Eric Go/Ronald Sou. The other non-Pelatnas pair, Rian Sukmawan/Eng Hian should also go safely through to the quarter-final.

In the mixed doubles, the newly formed Mohd Rizal/Greysia Polii also has a tricky tie against Yusuke Shinkai/Ikue Tatani. The veteran pair Tri Kusharyanto/Minarti Timur will face Eric Go/Eva Lee.

wow, what a barren MD field. in fact, the MS is not much better. i think the philliphines badminton authority should reconsider their scheduling of events, there's not much point having the PO less than a week from the IO.That isn't the half of it. While it is quite normal to have major tournaments back-to-back, the Philippine Open is at the beginning of a string of 5 big-money events in consecutive weeks. They didn't have a lot of choice, though, as they had to re-schedule their tournament because their president allegeed she was in danger of a coup. The other thing going against the Philippines was likely that it was their first time for this tournament. I'm sure that makes a difference to some teams, for some reason. It's a little like dance clubs. While there are some people who like to go to dance clubs that aren't too busy so they have room to move and do their thang, the majority only seem to want to go to places with long lineups and choosy doormen.

I find your comparison interesting. One day soon, the little dance club is gonna have choosy doormen. For the time being let's welcome the Philippines as the latest host for an open tournament. And they start BIG.It' a 4 star tournament.

puri setyo, rudy wijaya, kwee tek ming, minarti timur are former pelatnas players brought to the philippines 2 years ago by bingo bonanza to help train the asuncions. wang lili, on the other hand, is from fu zhou, china and was formerly part of the chinese team training pool. she was brought here by coach nelson asuncion also to help train vic and kennie. btw, wang lili and kwee tek ming recently got married.
their quarterfinal match today should be interesting. they play each other almost everyday. they should be familiar with each others game. :)

Glad to see Rudy Wijaya also play in here. I heard only Kwee in here. Rudy/Kwee won some national tournament before recruited to Pelatnas. In Pelatnas Rudy Wijaya paired with Tony Gunawan. Actually Tony/Rudy played well, won some Open Tournament and National Games (PON) beat Ricky/Rexy in their era.
But PBSI want to find best combination then they split they changed with other Djarum players Victo Wibowo/Seng Kok Kiong. PBSI drop Rudy/Seng dropped from Pelatnas that made Rudy so disappointed and needed hospital care.

The official website finally updates the results. Here are some selected results involving Indo players:

Fransisca Ratnasari beat Salakjit Ponsana 21-11, 21-18 -- a good outing for Nana by beating Norshahliza and now Salakjit. Her next opponent is the Japanese Ai Goto. Hmm....a good chance for her to reach the semi-final of a 4* event.

Unfortunately, Adrianti Firdasari was beaten rather easily by Julia Wong Pei Xian in 2 straight sets..13-21, 12-21.

In the men's doubles, 2 Pelatnas + 1 Djarum pairs are now in the quarter-final. Only Rendra Wijaya/Frans Kurniawan was beaten as expected by Albertus Susanto Njoto/Yohan Wiratama Hadikusumo in 3 sets 13-21, 21-15, 17-21. The Indonesian-born HK pairs will challenge the second seed Sudket Prapakamol/Patapol Ngernsrisuk. The 3/4 seeds Hendra Gunawan/Joko Riyadi and Yoga Ugikasah/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki were untroubled yesterday as both finished their matches in 19 and 15 mins respectively. They will face stiffer tests today facing Rupesh Kumar/Thomas Sanave and Nguyen Quanh-Minh/Tran Thanh-Hai. Both should progress though. As for the non-Pelatnas pair, Rian Sukamawan/Eng Hian, they will test the first seed Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari/Lin Woon Fui today.

In the women's doubles, all 3 Pelatnas pairs are also through to the quarter-final. Lita Nurlita/Nathalia Polukan will now face the top seed Wong Pei Tty/Chin Ee Hui; Jo Novita/Greysia Polii will also have a tricky tie against another Malaysian pair Lim Pek Siah/Joanna Quay. The last pair Rani Mundiasti/Endang Nur Sugianti beat Fong Chew Yen/Ooi Sock Ai in 3 sets 18-21, 21-18, 21-13 and will now face the 3/4 seed Duang-Anong Arunkesorn/Kunchala Vorawichitchaikul. Jo/Greysia should go through.

Lastly, the mixed doubles will also feature 3 Indonesian pairs, even though only 1 is Pelatnas pair. The newly formed Mohd Rizal/Greysia Polii beat the Jap pair Ikue Tatani/Shinsuka Matsuo 21-16, 21-16 and will now face Tran Thanh-Hai/Le Ngoc Nguyen Nhung...also a match they could win. The veteran pair of Tri Kusharyanto/Minarti Timur will now challenge the top seed Songpol Anukritayawan/Kunchala Vorawichitchaikul in the quarter-final. The other pair of Puri Setyo/Lili Wang face the home favorite -- the Asuncion brother/sister combination.

So, I predict at least Nana+4 pairs to win today and qualify for the semi-final tomorrow.

Considering Ponsana from Thailand, country that is estabelishing them self in Badminton, he is my favorite:p . If you watch his game, he is so creative. He did beat Taufik in qual. of Thomas Cup. Well, this is indeed a pleasant surprise - Saina defeated the highly ranked Xu! Watch out more for this fearless young lady who has created shock after shock during the Melbourne Commonwealth Games. BAI should be congratulated on sending her there, or is it Saina has her own sponsors? :)

Wow, I took for granted that Xu will easily win the title. I thought Saina was good, but not that good. WS is getting very interesting (especially if we take out the Chinese, but we can't do that, can we?)

[QUOTE=blueagle]Just came from the games. forgot the scores but latest results are as follows:

WS QF
Xu Huaiwen v Saina Nehwal(winner in 3 sets) - Xu was very disappointed after the match that she threw her racket to the sidelines. racket bounced several times ending up on the adjacent court. this was a result of a dubious call made by the chair umpire during the 3rd set calling Xu for over reaching on her net shot. score at that time was 19-18 in favor of nehwal.

QUOTE]

OMG,Huaiwen lost to Saina Nehwal!

what do you mean?

During the MCG preliminary team events she beat much higher ranked players than her like Li Li (SIN), past CG champ; England & CG Champ, Tracey Hallam; NZ's Bellingham, etc.

Her part in beating Li Li, prevented Singapore from being placed in the medal standings.

Now beating Xu is her best achievement so far. But this is not the end, for you may now find a growing up talent able to take on the formidable Chinese!

I have also paid tribute to Saina Nehwal in another post. Search the Melbourne Commonwealth Games thread for more information.

Too bad Firda lost to the Japanese girl  Wow...Saina again proves her talent by beating Xu Huaiwen. I have written down earlier in my predictions that she could surprise us....and she indeed pulled off the biggest upset of this open.

All the other results are pretty much expected. So Team Indonesia will have 2 pairs each in MD, WD, and XD. The pair with the highest chance to qualify for the final is the veteran pair of Tri Kusharyanto/Minarti Timur.

It will be a magnificent result if Hendra/Joko could beat Mohd Tazari/Lin. They had done it last year at the Singapore Open. Meanwhile, 2 bitter rivals await Jo/Greysia. Can they win their first open title by beating both Saralee/Sathinee and possibly Wong/Chin in the next 2 days?

As for the other pairs, Yoga/Yonathan still awaits their rival in the final. Rani/Endang have done well to reach semi-final in their first grand-prix. They are expected to lose to Wong/Chin. Similarly, Rizal/Greysia have fulfilled their semi-final target and will now face Sudket/Saralee.

DAY 3 - RESULTS UPDATED DAILY (CHECK OUT "DRAW & RESULTS" TAB)

Xu Huaiwen upset by Sania Nehwal in 3 sets! Sania pulls the biggest upset of the tournament so far by taking a close match against Xu. Jumping for joy after match point, this was probably Sania's biggest match victory of her career. She will now face Ai Goto in the Semi Finals tomorrow. The other Semi will feature Chie Umezu of Japan vs Julia Wong of Malaysia. On the Men's side, Hafiz Hashim will face Thai ace Boonsak Ponsana and brother Roslin Hashim will play Ng Wei of Hong Kong.

The Mixed doubles will feature Filipino darlings, the Asuncions, facing Minarti/Trikus from Indonesia and Polli/Rizal vs Thai 2nd seeds Saralee/Sudket. Women's doubles will see Malaysian #1 seeds taking on Endang/Mundiasti from Indonesia and on the other side, Gresya Polli will play in her second Semi Final with partner Jo Novita against Sathinee/Saralee from Thailand. Men's doubles will see #1 seeds Tazari/Lim vs Gunawan/Riyadi of Indonesia and compatriots Yoga/Yonathan going against the winner of the final match featuring Njoto/Wiratama vs Sudket/Patapol (in progress).

All the top seeds in every category will be in action today including: Hafiz Hashim, Ng Wei, the Asuncions...

Hey,hey, winning a title is not everything. Taufik won the wc, but he did not persistent like Ponsana:cool: . Considering Ponsana from Thailand, country that is estabelishing them self in Badminton, he is my favorite:p . If you watch his game, he is so creative. He did beat Taufik in qual. of Thomas Cup. Last Abc he is beaten by LCW, but it is because it was LCW home ground. :D

It is plain idiotic to say that LCW won because it its his home ground. He is the current world number 2 player. He have every right to win by pure skill over a much lower ranked player and not necessary by home ground advantage. You are implying that LCW's victory is some miracle. This has to be the stupidiest thing I ever heard.

Again, defending their fav players with heart not with the player skill.[BIG SIGH}

I had to admit that Boonsak is a talented and good player but comparing him with LCW and Taufik?

Boonsak still had a lot to achieve if he wanted to landed on the same stage level with LCW and even higher with Taufik.

Saina Nehwal in quarter-finals

May 26, 2006

Saina Nehwal scored a thumping victory over Sachiyo Imai of Japan to storm into the quarter-finals of the Philippines Open badminton championships at Pasig City.

The 16-year-old promising starlet, who came up with a giant-killing performance in the first round, beating world No. 31 S. Mudukasan of Malaysia, took just 29 minutes to overcome Sachiyo 21-15, 21-14 and clinch a berth in the last-eight round.

The 86-ranked Saina, coached by All England champion Pulella Gopichand, now faces the toughest challenge in the tournament when she takes on top seed and world No. 4 Xu Huaiwen of Germany in the quarters.

Saina is the lone Indian contender in the singles draw as the others, including Chetan Anand who lost to Roslin Hashim of Malaysia in the pre-quarterfinals, already bowed out of four-star event.

Sayali Gokhale, who sprung a surprise by scoring a major upset over world No. 29 Anna Rice of Canada in the first round, lost the plot as she went down 14-21, 13-21 to Ai Gota of Japan in 29 minutes in the next round.

India's top male shuttler, world No. 24, Chetan Anand was completely off-colour while going down to lowly-ranked Roslin 9-21, 21-18, 15-21.

Anand, seeded fifth in the tournament, had moved into the last 16 by beating Saman Ismail of Malaysia 22-24, 21-7, 21-12.

Arvind Bhat lost 21-13, 21-11 to world No. 13 Wei Ng to make a quiet exit in the pre-quarters.

Bhat had taken 15 minutes to post a 21-3, 21-4 win over Jamie Junio of Tthe Philippines in the previous round.

Saina in semifinals

HYDERABAD: India's Saina Nehwal shocked World No. 4 Xu Huaiwen, the Chinese-born shuttler representing Germany, 12-21, 21-15, 21-17 in the women's singles quarterfinals of the Philippines Open badminton tournament in Manila on Friday, according to information received here.

Saina has become the first ever Indian woman to enter the last four stage of a four-star international event, according to Gopi Chand.

A delighted Saina told The Hindu over telephone that this was the biggest and the most satisfying win of her career. "This should go a long way in boosting my confidence. I was not at all tense," she said. She will be meeting Japan's unseeded Ai Goto.

The results: Women: Quarterfinals: Saina Nehwal bt Xu Huaiwen 12-21, 21-15, 21-17; Pre-quarterfinals: Saina bt Sachiyo Imai 21-15, 21-14; Sayali Gokhale lost to Ai Gota 21-14, 21-13.

Men: Chetan Anand lost to Roslin Hashim 21-9, 18-21, 21-15; Arvind Bhat lost to Wei 21-13, 21-11; Anup Sridhar lost to Yen Hui Kendrick Lee 20-22, 21-19, 21-19; Anand Pawar lost to Boonsak Ponsana 21-15, 22-20; P. Kashyap lost to Beng Hong Kuan 21-11, 21-16.

Men's doubles: Pre-quarterfinals: Rupesh Kumar & Sanave Thomas bt Nattapon Naktong & Songpol Anukritayawan of Thailand 21-17, 21-18. — Principal Correspondent

Asuncions barge into semis

Kennie and Kennevic Asuncion dazzled Puri Setyo and Lili Wang of Indonesia with superb shotmaking to pull off a remarkable 21-12, 21-19 victory Friday, clinching for the Filipino pair a seat in the semifinals of the mixed doubles event in the $120,000 Bingo Bonanza Philippine Open Badminton Championships at the Philsports Arena.

Egged on by an appreciative crowd that included top badminton officials Ming Ramos and Edgar Aglipay, the Filipino sibling tandem unleashed a variety of shots to startle their Indon rivals.

But it was their drop shots that hurt their rivals the most for the win that kept the host country’s campaign going in the event presented by PLDT Business Solutions.

"We varied our shots well and they were bothered by it," said Kennie, whose mixed doubles world ranking with brother Kennevic dropped from 22nd last year to 69th owing to a lack of tournaments abroad.

But the staging of the RP Open, the first four-star, International Badminton Federation-ranking tournament to be staged here, could be the start of something big for the Filipino shuttlers in terms of exposure and level of competition.

All Filipino bets but the Asuncions, however, took the early exit after bowing to superior, more experienced rivals.

The victory lined the Asuncions up against the tandem of Tri Kusharjanto and Minarti Timur, also of Indonesia, who shocked top seeds Songpol Anukritayawan and Kunchala Vorawichitchakul of Thailand in a pulsating 21-18, 21-18 win.

The Asuncions, who have assured themselves of at least $2,640 (P137,280) for making it to the last four, know they’re in for some rough sailing.

"They’re more experienced than us, they’re a veteran pair," said the 26-year-old Kennevic in referring to the Indonesians, the silver medallists in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

"We need to improve our shots and play smarter and better for us to have a chance in beating them," he added.

The crowd could be also be a factor, as the Asuncions are sure to draw inspiration from an expected big number of local fans out to cheer up the last Pinoy bets standing in the tournament sponsored by Bingo Bonanza, JVC (Philippines) Inc. PLDT and Smart.

The Asuncions and the Indons dispute the first finals berth at 2 p.m.

Tickets are pegged at Category 1 (P500); Category 2 (P350); Category 3 (P250); Category 4 (P150); Gallery (P20).

Games Saturday and Sunday’s final matches will be aired live on RPN 9 and Solar Sports.

Second pick Sudket Pra-pakamol and Saralee Thoung-thongkam of Thailand and sixth seed Muhammmad Rizal and Gresya Pilii of Indonesia also hurdled their respective rivals to set up the other semis duel.

Prapakamol and Thoun-thongkam downed No. 8 Klaus Raffeiner and Agnese Allegrini, 21-7, 21-12, while Rizal and Pilii stunned No. 4 Tran Thanh Hai and Le Ngoc Nguyen Nhung of Vietnam, 21-8, 21-9, to complete the semis cast.

MEN'S SINGLES

Mohd Hafiz Hashim vs Boonsak Ponsana (MATCH OF THE ROUND)
Mohd Roslin Hashim vs Ng Wei

-- Can Hafiz and Roslin enter the final to make it a family affair tomorrow? Hafiz should beat Boonsak, but I think Ng Wei could prevail today.

WOMEN'S SINGLES

Saina Nehwal vs Ai Goto
Chie Umezu vs Julia Wong Pei Xian (MATCH OF THE ROUND)

-- Can young Saina and Julia enter the final tomorrow? Saina has once again upset one of the big guns...this time round Xu Huaiwen. She is my favorite for the title here.

MEN'S DOUBLES

Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari/Lin Woon Fui vs Hendra Gunawan/Joko Riyadi (MATCH OF THE ROUND)
Yoga Ugikasah/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki vs Albertus Susanto Njoto/Yohan Wiratama Hadikusumo

-- Can Hendra/Joko upset the higher-ranked Malaysian pair? They have done it before...but I still think Mohd Tazari/Lin have the slight edge. For the other match, the more experienced Indonesian-born HK pair should win.

WOMEN'S DOUBLES

Wong Pei Tty/Chin Ee Hui vs Rani Mundiasti/Endang Nur Sugianti
Jo Novita/Greysia Polii vs Saralee Thoungthongkam/Sathinee Chankrachangwong (MATCH OF THE ROUND)

-- Wong/Chin won in 3 close sets (21-19, 15-21, 21-19) over Lita Nurlita/Nathalia Poluakan yesterday and will face another young Indonesian pair today. Rani/Endang has done well to reach the semi-final and should feel no pressure today. Jo/Greysia has an uphill battle against Saralee/Sathinee. Can they win today?

MIXED DOUBLES

Tri Kusharyanto/Minarti Timur vs Kennevic Asuncion/Kennie Asuncion (MATCH OF THE ROUND)
Mohd Rizal/Greysia Polii vs Sudket Prapakamol/Saralee Thoungthongkam

-- The first match is undoubtedly the Match Of the Day. This is what the home crowd is waiting for: one of the local pair in the semi-final! They will face the veteran Indonesian pair who are based in Manila as well. I last met Minarti Timur at the HK Open and I never thought she would ever compete again! Anyway, the ex-Olympic silver medallist pair holds the advantage here. They should meet my other fav pair: Sudket/Saralee in the final tomorrow.

well,i'm sorry that i cant give detail comments for this match since i was watching TV,while i'm working and posting here...:p

anyway...jz as what i saw, even malaysian pairs seems struggling all the game, but they seems to be in a comfortable place, while indons pairs(they should be very young, don't they?)seems like a bit panic during crutial pts, their defence sometims seems like not enough and let malaysian took advantages from there.

Err...how come the previous post mentioned that Mohd Tazari/Lin beat Hendra/Joko?? Which is the correct result?

Checked the results at the official website. Indeed, Hendra/Joko bt Mohd Tazari/Lin in 3 close sets 18-21, 21-12, 21-19...68 mins....the longest match in PO. A great achievement for Hendra/Joko in beating Malaysian's third doubles pair. I hope this can spur them to beat Albertus Susanto Njoto/Yohan Wiratama Hadikusumo in the final tomorrow...to win their first GP title.

As for Jo/Greysia...excellent result also by beating Saralee/Sathinee in 2 quick sets. They should be able to win their first title by beating their counterparts Rani/Endang in the final.

MEN'S SINGLES
Mohd Hafiz Hashim vs Mohd Roslin Hashim
-- an all-Hashim affair...and the younger Hashim should prevail.

WOMEN'S SINGLES
Saina Nehwal vs Julia Wong Pei Xian

-- both youngsters have impressed this week, esp Saina. The slightly more experienced Saina holds a slight edge. She has become my favorite non-Indonesian women's singles player now. A 4* title will boost her confidence and ranking by a great deal!

MEN'S DOUBLES
Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi vs Albertus Susanto Njoto/Yohan Wiratama Hadikusumo

-- Indonesia's no 3 pair has done the toughest job by beating the top seed in 3 close sets. They have been fairly consistent this year, losing only 3 matches: to Choong/Lee (ABC Round 1/32), Sudket/Patapol (Thailand Satelitte Final), and to the pair they are going to meet tomorrow (Vietnam Satelitte Quarter-Final). I believe the confidence they got from beating Mohd Tazari/Lin will give them an advantage tomorrow.

WOMEN'S DOUBLES
Jo Novita/Greysia Polii vs Rani Mundiasti/Endang Nur Sugianti

-- an unexpected all-Indonesian final...for the first time since I don't know when. Richard Mainaky has once again proved he's a good coach. He was the one who was responsible for the partnership that subsequently leads to a World and Asian Championships in Mixed Doubles. This time, he is also in charge of WD and has boldly experimented with new pairings starting from this week. Rani/Endang and Rizal/Greysia have done well to reach the final and semi-final respectively. It was a pleasant surprise that Rani/Endang manage to beat the top seeded Wong/Chin. Can they do another surprise by beating their supposedly more experienced team-mate tomorrow? We shall see more of Richard's new XD pairs next week in the IO.

MIXED DOUBLES
Kennevic Asuncion/Kennie Asuncion vs Sudket Prapakamol/Saralee Thoungthongkam (MATCH OF THE DAY)

-- make no mistake...it's a home pair in the final! The Asuncion siblings have done well in their home grand prix...and it should be another thriller tomorrow. On paper, Sudket/Saralee are more experienced and should win. However, we have seen plenty of upsets this week...and it could be another one of those tomorrow.
