Aarhus is the second largest city in Denmark and the city I live in =)

Called the "smallest big city in the world", it has a number of good attractions as stunning monuments, nice architecture, a beautiful setting and a lively nightlife.

It has a youthful, cosmopolitan atmosphere with a lively cafe culture, good shopping, and a fine pedestrian atmosphere. The fact that Aarhus is a university town adds to its appeal.

This city is very beautiful and not-so-grey/rainy during summer time :D
But unfortunately Denmark Open is from October 31th...

The Latin Quarter is located in the centre close to the big pedestrian area and the cathedral.

It is the oldest piece of well-preserved Aarhus, with centuries-old buildings, narrow pedestrianized streets, and neat little art galleries and residences:

Strøget is basically the main pedestrianized avenue throughout the centre of the city. Strøget is a good place to go on a Saturday morning to catch the buzz of the week's shoppers and get some great deals.

Tivoli Friheden is an amusement part situated in the Marselisborg forest.
There's many things to try and it's a very fun experience especially for the kids.. Many people just sit and watch the flowers and have a beer in one of the many restaurants there...

the weather ah... most of the asian players complain about the weather... they even wear their long training coats inside the arena... haha... if you're lucky about 10 C.

the closest main airport is about 45 mins busdrive from the town centre. this airport is called TIRSTRUP airport. you can easily take the airport bus to town and back again. for further information you can check http://www.brics.dk/TravelInf/Aarhus/index.html and http://www.visitaarhus.com/show.asp?id=64

denmark is part of EU, but not yet using euro!!! maybe we'll get it next time, but depends on the percentage of votes.

nope, i don't play... hehehe! i'm guide for "sport aarhus events", so i help out in sport events like denmark open.

Hey my friend, you're a bit slow! Haven't you seen the pics of our lovely young lady in this forum? Make a search and decide for yourself.

Yannie, these pics of Aarhus (how do I pronounce?) are just simply beautiful. Are they postcards or you took some of them yourself? No wonder you stayed there for so long!

How I wish one day I could visit before you return to your original home. :)

Loh, these are pictures that some people took and I found them on the net. But I took some myself too... I can post them later.

No wonder I stayed here for so long? Uhm... gonna stay here till I finish uni at least. You're welcome - to Denmark :D

I believe its quite rare for Chinese to migrate or study in Denmark? Must be tough learning the language during the early days.

It's not rare anymore... many Chinese come here to study in business schools and unis... You can easily see Chinese people in the 4 largest cities of Denmark. (Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg)

The language? I went to an international school, where I learnt Danish, English, French and German at the same time... but from what I remember, it wasn't hard.

Are you there with your family?
Do you stay in city center or outskirt?
Sorry for all the questions:p hope its not freaking you out haha

Now I'm almost finished with high school, which is a public high school. What I meant before was that I went to an international school before high school. You can choose whether you want to be taught in Danish or English now. At that time we could only be taught in Danish.
After high school, I'll go to uni in September, but haven't decided yet what to study.
Yeah, I'm here with my mom, dad, brother.
Stay in a suburb to Aarhus, but since the city is not that big, it takes about 11 min. by bus to go to town.
No probs with all questions... :D

How come you went to Denmark instead of other European countries? Because your Dad was sent there by his China boss? What was your initial experience in Aarhus? Did you mix well with the children of other races in the International school? In what language do you normally converse with them and with your parents?

How many years have you been there already and how many more before you and/or your family decide to return to Fujian or perhaps Shanghai/Beijing?

Do you read, write and speak those languages you have learnt? At what levels would you say your command of these languages. Can you read newspapers in these languages? Do you have a chance to practise them on a regular basis, apart from Danish and English?

Well, perhaps enough questions for now. Let the other guys ask more. :D

Wahahaha... That's a lot of questions, Loh. ;)

Did you mix well with the children of other races in the International school? In what language do you normally converse with them and with your parents?

My dad was asked to be a "guest researcher" in Aarhus University. He's a surgeon/researcher/professor now. So we came here, we liked the place, it's very clean, people are friendly. The nature is beautiful.
International school... since many of the other kids were also foreigners, we mixed well together. We all spoke in Danish together! At home, I speak Mandarin with my parents and Mandarin mix Danish with my brother.

How many years have you been there already and how many more before you and/or your family decide to return to Fujian or perhaps Shanghai/Beijing?
I've been there since 1995, soon 11 years!!! Wah... so long time huh? I'll stay here till my uni's finished. Don't know about my parents. I think they like both places...

Do you read, write and speak those languages you have learnt? At what levels would you say your command of these languages. Can you read newspapers in these languages? Do you have a chance to practise them on a regular basis, apart from Danish and English?

Mandarin: speak, read, write a bit (could be much better :o )
English: speak, read, write
Danish: speak, read, write
German: speak some, read some, write some
French: speak some, read some, write some (still learning)

Yeah, I can read newspapers in these languages... practise German/French - only in school!!! :p
