SURABAYA (Indonesia): Lee Chong Wei was the only Malaysian shuttler left standing in the men’s singles after the first day of action in the US$250,000 Indonesian Open here yesterday.
Chong Wei, the top seed and world number two, got off to an excellent start when he disposed of Chen Chi-hao of Taiwan 21-10, 21-8 in the first round.
In the second round, which was also played yesterday, Chong Wei eliminated Indonesian Alamsyah 21-14, 21-17.
The 24-year-old Chong Wei will face China’s Chen Yu for a place in the last eight.
Back-up shuttler Yeoh Kay Bin also got off to a good start when he defeated Indonesian Budi Santoso 15-21, 21-16, 21-19.
But his challenge ended in the second round when he went down 12-21, 5-21 to Kenneth Jonassen of Denmark.
Lee Tsuen Seng, K. Yogendran and club player Pei Wei Chung, however, suffered first-round exits.
Tsuen Seng’s misery in international tournaments continued when he was sent packing by former Indonesian great Icuk Sugiarto’s son Tommy Sugiarto 12-21, 11-21.
Yogendran lost 16-21, 12-21 to Germany’s Bjoern Joppien while Wei Chung went down 16-21, 8-21 to Thailand’s Boonsak Ponsana.

A great result for Tommy. I believe he also won yesterday night to make it to Round 3. He should face Lee Hyun Il next.

You would wonder why Tsuen Seng carries on playing when he keeps losing. I think it must be time to hang up the boots.
Yeah, his fitness level is going down. Not so focused anymore. But i can see that Pei Wei Chung still has it. Just that he is not good enough.

Not boots but rackets

BAM shud bring out the cane as ample chance had been given to him....and still hanging on his historic credential

It was a simile.
jug8man 06-01-2006, 01:17 AM Regarding Tsuen Seng, his presence in BAM more good or bad???
Good :
- provide sparring to lift jrs ,
- assist in training with the seniors,
- Not Axeing ppl going through a rough spell, will reduce athelete stress on 'job security'. perhaps allow other athletes to perform better under reduced stress.
Bad :
- If he is un motivated & showing bad attitude, it might rub off on the Jrs,
- To many chances to someone not holding their own might send wrong messages to everyone else.
- is he taking up someone else's place / spot???
nelsonkong 06-01-2006, 02:44 AM keep moving on LCW....you have all my supports.

Hi Bresis
So you've decided to study in beautiful Melbourne. Still remember the Yarra and all the activities around it during the MCG! And the Malaysian students who yelled their heads off to support LCW and the Msian Team! Which school or Uni are you attending? Have you met up with our Melbourne friends, Chris, BadFever, Kim, Hagane, Twodogs, tze yang, etc? Hope you can join them in some baddy games. :)
BadFever 06-01-2006, 10:07 PM Hi Bresis,
If you live around Glen Waverly, feel free to come to join us for some badminton. We played every Friday night. It's just a social games. No pressure.
abedeng 06-01-2006, 10:54 PM Malaysian men's singles players never do well in Indonesian Open, other than the temperamental Yong Hock Kin in 1998.

Yeah , but that's when they are against indonesian players. HE LOST TO CHINA !!!
Weak mental ...

U sounds like he's dumb or something .. Maybe he's ill-prepared or lack of confidence.. his confidence crumbles after losing an important match with peter gade... And he's not a typical self-confident player like other top players...
