Chinese shuttler Bao Chulai was ousted from the men's singles final after losing to Danish ace Peter Gade 2-1 at the Singapore Open badminton tournament.


Third-seeded Bao was beaten 21-15, 16-21, 21-17 in a marathon semifinal which lasted 63 minutes.

In another Sino-Danish clash, China's fourth seed Chen Hong also suffered a 2-1 defeat to Denmark's Kenneth Honassen, losing the match 25-23, 19-25, 21-16.

In the women's singles, Chinese teenager Lu Lan was upset by Netherland's Mia Audina as she lost the semifinal 21-8, 19-21, 23-21.

Meanwhile, Chinese women have booked the doubles title when number-one seed Yang Wei and Zhang Jiewen and teammates Zhang Dan and Zhao Tingting each beat their rivals to set up an all-China final.

think the China team is plyaing psychology warfare here. purposely losing to the danes, so dat the europeans will go to madrid overconfidence. den Lin Dan, Bao will destroy them keke

Come on, there's no advantage in losing just to play a psychological advantage. They can also win well and get a psychological advantage by making the opponents scared. Furthermore, at such a high level, such things don't work. The top players will not give a damn too much about past results to be that over confident. They more or less know what each other are up to.

I think the chinese players are quite worn out due to their schedule recently such as their national tournaments as well as this series of opens. Not to mention that they already have training 6 days a week.

When I see the chinese players' face at the Singapore Open, they look really tired as compared to other country's players.
