What is BBC Associate Member Fee/Full Member Fee?
to play in a badminton BC sanctioned tournament(where you can qualify for rankings and such), you need to be at least an associate member. i'm not sure what the full membership is because i never actually got around to purchasing it :D. all i know is that u get a nifty little nametag ><.

long story short, u needa be an associate member to play tournaments that r run by badmintonBC

What is BBC Associate Member Fee/Full Member Fee?

This annual membership fee starts every September and ends in August. This fee will provide insurance coverage for you during any BBC sanctioned tournament.
Associate membership [$10] allows you to play all the Junior B tournaments and one A tournament during the membership year (This is according to 2005-2006 season). Any changes in the 2006-2007 season? I'm not sure.
Full membership [$30] allows you as junior - to play in any BBC tournaments; Junior Elite and National Tournaments. As adult, it will allows you to play in BBC open tournaments, Senior Elite, Provincial and Canadian Master tournament.
Memberships also "helps" the association to apply for government fundings to promote the sport. More funding will be given if the sports assoication has increased its memberships. With more government funding, the association will provide more programs like summer camps, traing camps etc.
Funding is also needed to train TeamBC players to represent the province to compete in inter Provincial tournaments and Canada Winter Games.

This was proposed during last years' HS Provincial in Cranbrook. You can email to info@badminton.com to confirm.

This was proposed during last years' HS Provincial in Cranbrook. You can email to info@badminton.com to confirm.I remember from the surrey's, that applies only if the student is representing the school, and that the school is participating in the event. If the school is not involved (ie. not a schedule event with the school athletic department), the student cannot represent the school.

however, if there was a school badminton club (ie - not the school team, but maybe an evening badminton club that uses the school and name) that has been paying dues to badminton bc and is recognized by badminton bc, the student may be covered under the club name.

um... a "B" level tournament could possibly have all kinds of players ranging from low level advance all the way to super elite(open category). the u19 category could be filled up with high perfs

um....i think those would both give u associate memberships because only an associate membership was required for a provincial B tourny; i think the level of play of high school provincials would be the same if not a decimal point smaller then the provincial B. so i guess for that season u had a double associate membership XD.

but new associate memberships have to be purchased for this tournament. i'm not entirely sure how long the full membership lasts.

btw.."A" tournament is usually referring to those high level provincial and national level players. "B" would be anyone thats not there XD

As for level of "A" and "B" tournaments, all you need is to paly in both a & B tiurnaments to find out. thge first A tournament will be the VRC Rememberance Day tournament. According to last years' rule: An associate membership is allowed to take part in one A tournament. (Full membership is required for all A tournaments).
This year (2006-2007) BBC restricted most of the top (3 to 5)"A" players to play only in the "open" only. This will encourage more B (or recreational) players to play in the tournament.
Last years' HS Provincial in Cranbrook - The top 3 teams - Hamber / VC-LFA / Burnett - have a mixture of A & B players in their team. Some of them are top in the province. Go to BBC website and click ranking to find out who is ranked and who is not.
See you all in the tournament.......Deadline for C1 JR B is Sep 20

A reminder for all players This is the 2006-2007 season's 1st B tournament and most of your Badminton BC Associate membership fees ($10) are due and must be paid before you paly any match so that you are "covered" under BBC's Injury Insurance.

Hi!

I was wondering if someone could look into this for me. I registered in time for the tournament by email and I thought I was in. I'm actually flying in from Edmonton this Saturday morning to play in the tournament in open singles and hoping that I still can. Please let me know what's happening. And I think I can probably play some doubles or mixed if someone is looking for a partner. Thanks!

Please email me at ericlai1@hotmail.com if anything comes up!

Just checked the Opens MD draw, and saw that both team 3 (match 601) and team 28 (match 611) are Andrew Wong and Micky Chow. Is there a mistake, or are there really 2 AW & MC pairs?

It was our mistake :crying:   :( - entry was faxed in and original were also "counted" again which the name was entered differently like micky  & mickey:rolleyes: !....until we double check his BD. They will stay at the top and their bottom position will become a bye.:D :D :D

Hey Badelbow,

I know this is a little off topic, but what type of software are you using to generate your draws/matches?

not any tournament sofewares. Draws are done "manually". We use info from BBC web site and rules and come up with the seedings (if any). Each palyer has an player ID. We use the ID number when placing the draw. So we don't know who they are, all we know is 123 will play against 218 until we type them onto excel spread sheets.

BY the way, I left out the start time for the 40+ players...really sorry.....your start time will be the same as U19 Girls start time for both singles and doubles. Web site will be updated tomorrow!!

With Rally Point Scoring System, unforced errors are "free" points given to your opponents. Players have to be more focus during the game because each serve is a point gained or lost! Its harder to catch up :crying: :crying: :crying: and a lot harder to come back!!
