Wow, 4 CHN, 3 INA, 1 KOR, 1 MAs, 1 DEN

It seems CHN only send their 2nd team. It looks like Bao CL has been differentiated from other team members like Lin Dan, Chen Hong, and Chen Jin. CHN sent BCL to indo open, but not Lin and Chens. then for Malay open and taipei open, CHN sent Lin and Chens, not BCL. This time CHN sends BCL to Korea open, while Lin and Chens to Hong Kong Open. Any body knows the reason for this? Does this mean that Lin Dan, Chen Jin, Chen Hong are the 1st team, and Bao CL, Chen Yu, Qiu YB(these 3 go together) are the 2nd team?

Bao CL once again keeps performing better than Lee HI by beating Lee HI directly. :-) Although Lee did pretty good this time at KO, but unfortunately, not good enough, or in another word: Bao CL just better. Let us see the HK open now, where Lee HI is going to meet Chen Jin, let's see who's going to win. I bet on Chen Jin.

I go for Bao in MS. I tihnk roslin has benefitted from the top players either skipping the open or not peaking for this event as they are focussing on WC. We seem to say it everytime Bao gets near, but this is the best chance he will ever get.

The only other Interesting final looks to be XD. Could Widianto/Natsir be peaking too early? or just hitting form at the right time. Back to Back WC would be impressive for a Often overlooked pair.

It's going to be hard to beat Bao Chunlai..but if he keeps his good form..he should be able to win. Currently,Roslin is impressive because he is combining new attacking style + with his normal defensive game.
All the best Roslin!! :-)

It is a major break through for either one of them. Hard to pick.

It should be a good match between Roslin Hashim vs Bao Chunlai. Chunlai has an advantage being a more skillful player plus Roslin is known to crumble occasionally when under pressure during his earlier career. However, I think the "new" Roslin may come out winner this time as he has a lot to proof and if he can keep his relentless attack then Bao may find it hard to defend. It's a 50-50 ball game and of course the Malaysian shall emerge as winner :p

Looks like Kido/Setiawan is not there yet, eh? They still had to bow out to their senior. Too bad, but they have shown a lot of potential. What a big surprise for the Indonesian pair of Novita/Polii. I still find it hard to believe that they beat the defending champion Lee/Lee in their home ground. JOB WELL DONE GIRLS! As for Widianto/Natsir, it will be nice if they can win this KO and prove their superiority to the Danish pair, but Eriksen is still a very dangerous man to watch out for.

Do you guys realize that the way Novita/Polii have been playing and climbing up to the top is very similar to Widianto/Natsir. At that time Widianto was partnered with somebody else and then came along a young lady Natsir. They were paired together and kicked ass right away beating Robertson/Emms in 2005 Singapore Open I think. Novita/Polii are the same. Novita was partnered with somebody else and then came along Polii who was her junior and they had climbed steadily since then. They even won the Philippine open which is a big surprise. I hope they can add a 6 star tournament title here. Who knows, they may become like Camila Martin, player(s) who are able to break the great wall of China's female players. GO GIRLS!

what title(s) did roslin win before? This is from The Star (http://thestar.com.my/sports/story.asp?file=/2006/6/27/sports/14662196&sec=sports) in Malaysia this month, I believe.

Some of his notable achievements include 2001 Swiss Open and Japan Open titles; 2003 All-England semi-finalist and the men's singles winner at the 2001 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games.

This bio (http://fotoweb.bernama.com/foto/seagames/profilebm.asp?id=63&negarabm=Malaysia&sukanbm=Badminton) is even older and I only understand some of it. Someone else here could translate much faster than I could. Same goes for this newer one (http://bulutangkis.web.infoseek.co.jp/nusa/b_roslin.htm).

This means it's been as long for both players since either has won a tournament. The differences are obvious, though. Bao has been coming very close all this time and keeping his ranking up in the top 10 while Roslin has not. Also Roslin was likely considered at his peak when he won the Japan Open in 2001. Bao was likely expected to be on the rise when he won the 2001 Denmark Open (?) and he stayed high but didn't continue to win.

A guy not on a roll would not enter the final. None of them has lost until the final. I will bet on Bao CL, since he's more consistent and more skillful and more capable to win. By the way, Bao has defeated Roslin all the times before. So it's hard for Roslin altering this tradition at this time when he's over 30 years old, at this age, people honor traditions ;) , so does Roslin.

I think Roslin is definately on fire this time. But the problem is whether he can maintain his superb form and esp his stamina after 3 marathon match in a row. If he can, beating BCL is not impossible. BCL has beat him twice but i think its bout 1 or 2 yrs ago, i bet roslin will win this time!

...seems like you have it up a few seconds ahead of the live webcast...
Abt the match itself, esp. in the 1st set, it seemed like Candra was making quite a few errors while Tony was bailing him out with some quick winners..Add the Koreans self-errors as well, thus the close score...Yes, both pairs are really fast..

USA v Korea (2nd set)
21-18, USA won the Korean Open 21-18, 21-18.
yup, nothing new, it was Tony basically who won it, as always..;)..
The KOR pair tried their best, played very well, but with Tony at the net, it wasn't meant to be..If it was another pair playing against the KOR pair, i think the KOR pair will win..
On that note, i think this is Tony's & Candra's best chance to win one of the twin tourneys, as they are still fresh and most of the top pairs are out..Hopefully they have enough juices left for next week's HK Open, don't want to disappoint the HK crowd, right??..;):)
