Don't under estimate Ng Wei as he was the one who defeated the world #1 Roslin Hashim in 2001 and we all know 1st match of any tournament will have some jitter effect :D

i dont think taufik will have any problem beating Ng Wei if he can play like he used to, but after that tough matches ahead of him.

Ng Wei is a good badminton player, but the strategy of Ng is still a bit behind. Hopfully, Ng Wei can beat Taufik. Anything can happen as ants said in a post! :D

Ng Wei is a darkhorse and can be very dangerous to TH. Both players haven't really played well recently but I still think TH still have enough to overcome Ng Wei.

Ng Wai is the most unlucky seed in the tournament, I am sure he is cursing his luck now.

But Taufik will not go far as well, simply because he has too many strong players on his path. He can only hope some seeded players fell to unknown, clearing the path for him.

I think Taufik still deserve to win this tournament. In HK the umpire decision was bad, and he asked Taufik to walk out, wasn't he?

I disagree. A professional player such as PG would not enter a tournament without being 100% fit. That would be stupid. PG will probably beat TH if they meet because TH seems the emotional type and it'll take him awhile to get over the Hong Kong incident. PG would really want to win the World Championships because I don't think he has won that yet has he? He should do well.

What about Chen Jin, Bao CL, and Lee HI, ... you got to mention those guys too. :D I remember that Lee HI beat TH continuously and convincingly, recently. Bao CL also holds a winning head to head against Taufik. Could you check Chen Jin vs TH

TH vs LHI= 3-3 with [LHI's recent victories over TH (3 times consecutively)

ANyhow, LHI defeated TH when TH was injured or in the process of recovering from injury, yet the matches were always tight ....Statistically their head to head is 3:3, but qualitatively,...TH is better....

Regarding BAO...yes statistically Bao has a better record (4-3)....
Still, Bao's type is the most difficult for TH....

however, looking at their last encounter in IO, I am sure TH can handle Bao again....
