Hi all, posting from halfway around the world on the small island of Taiwan. I've got lots of jet lag, but its for the good of badminton.

I'm going to be travelling a bit around here, generally from Taipei to Taizhong. I might even go to Gaohsiung (I butchered that romanization) but we'll see if I have the patience to stay on a bus for that long. One question for the community though. I hear that you can get badminton equipment anywhere in Taiwan, but where would you be able to find a reputable shop that actually has great deals? I just did a short walk to a small underground shop near my dalou (apartment/tower) and although the guy there was friendly (a bit intrusive, but that's how a lot of Taiwanese shopkeepers are), the prices weren't fantastic.

Looking for any brands really, preferably Yonex, Victor, Gosen, Kason, SOTX, even Wilson anything that would bring up any sort of connotative feeling of sports or badminton.

Thanks a lot.

There is a street around National University of Taiwan that has high concentration of racquet shops that sell badminton accessories. I forgot what the name is but if you take a cab to the main entrance and ask, anyone can give you walking direction to get there. I bought my AT700 from one of the shops, its pretty good price.

You can check out

to see who has better price. I've bought from them 2 times via internet this year, but doesn't know how it compares to street price. It has no walk-in sale AFAIK, though. I have no problem with them, as long as I know exactly what I want (b/c I'm in US).

Actually why don't you share with us your findings? If you find a better shop, maybe I'll ask my friend to shop for me there next time.

Actually, the prices on Mattshop websites is quite good although they are not the cheapest unless you know people. But the difference is not much. So it is convenient to buy from Mattshop than try to find someone to buy the raquets for you. I am a Taiwanese and have been a student in the US for a long time. I even have order racquets from them in US. They are very reputable and the shipping and packaging is really good for shipping long distance. Good luck!
