hmmm .....The Victor shorts might suggest a team from Taiwan, but famous players from Taiwan at a recent Open?

Who did Tony Gunawan play with at the U.S. Open? Could it be him with a non-Yonex-wearing partner?

Hmm, yes, Tony played in last yr's Taipei Open, but after scouring the pics for that tourney, i don't think it's him. He paired with Cheng Wen Hsing, if i'm not mistaken, at that time.
This yr, Tony was supposed to play XD in the U.S. Open with Minarti Timur, but she and a couple other players didn't make it.
The shoe doesn't remind me of Tony's. However, the guy's arm and the way he holds the racket and his right leg's movement, reminds me a bit of Tony.

BTW, could you tell us at least when was this pic taken??..this yr or last yr or another yr??..

u guess it right "VERY VERY GOOD" :DVery tricky taking out the "C" in Sinopec, making it look like it could be an "open" tournament. That threw me completely. After all, there are no famous players who wear Victor in international tournaments!

This pic looks like its from the All China games. Victor sponsor a lot of the provincial teams for that tournament. I notice they wear Victor but still use their own racquets.

I notice they wear Victor but still use their own racquets.Yes but one of the other tricks employed in the original photo was to obscure the Victor logo on Gong Ruina's strings. Are we sure that she isn't just using a Victor racquet with a paint job similar to an AT700?

Also, "their own racquets" may be Victor and they just use Yonex at international tournaments because of the sponsorship money.

it's must easier to just stencil victor logo onto the stringbed;)

it's must easier to just stencil victor logo onto the stringbed;)This may be true in theory. On the other hand, I don't know if it is common practice for stringers to stencil unmatching logos onto strings. Also, this Victor racquet looks a lot like the one in the photo
http://www.bbeshop.com/victor/images/racket_challenger_ti77.jpg
so if she were actually using it, stencilling a non-matching logo wouldn't be necessary.

Still, I'll defer to those of you who seem to know a lot about which Yonex model each pro uses and if you happen to already know that Gong uses an AT700, far be it from me to contest the point. If it is an AT700, then jiayou blotting out the Victor logo would actually be a removal of a possible red herring.

On the other hand, I don't know if it is common practice for stringers to stencil unmatching logos onto strings. . Sometimes it is. It would depend on the situation. It would be difficult for a national team player to switch to a Victor racquet for something as important as the All China games. So next best thing to do is to use their own and change the stencil. If the player is retired but playing for their province, then a Victor racquet would suffice.

event, your photo of victor racket had raised a valid counterpoint where as my previous post was based on my past observation of ex-sponsored players. I know gong ruina had been using at700 since its introduction and never changed to her racket up to the last day of retirement from the national team. Upon closeup examination of the photo, i have to say that racket was indeed a yonex at700, not that the victor. It is a common practice of ex-sponsored players. KJ was using at700 when he was sponsored by hi-tec but later changed to prokennex after he got a racket sponsor.

here we are ask to guess the photo and the answer was a doctored photoYes. But as I say, if jiayou hadn't doctored the photo, wouldn't everyone have been trying to figure out who the Victor racquet user was? I guess I was anyway because I saw the shorts but at least some members here picked out what is quite possibly an AT700.

ahahaha, that's a bit under-handed but i guess it's really just a game.
it's not as if we were conned into buying victor racquets because we supported a player and found out later that they were actually using yonex.
