Reports from Chinese training camp said that Xie Zhongbo, Chen Hong, Xie Xinfang were in bad form currently.

In the 4 quarters of men's singles draw, it's thought that the 3rd quarter is the toughest because there are 3 top players, Gade, Chen Hong and Taufik. But I think all of these three are not in good form.

Bao CL bragged that no one can stop him from the title until the draw's out. It's almost certain that he has to play Lee CW at quarterfinal. Bao complained that he lost so quickly that he even had never ready to start to play very time. He still has not figured out why that happened every time. Now he looks depressed, poor Bao. Everyone thought he got a good draw except himself.

So it seems like this WC is really the battle between Lee CW and Lindan. But Chen Jin could beat them all. Chen Jin claimed he makes great progress every day. When he's singing on the stage before camera, he asked who's the best player in the world, then he pointed himself and his teammates. It seems that he's very confident.

CJ should be confident, i think his chances of winning are pretty high.
i would say LD and LCW have about equal chance, then it's:
CJ
BCL, PG
TH, LHI, CH

PREVIEW-Badminton-Ban threat overshadows Hidayat's title defence
Sunday September 17, 12:00 PM

MADRID, Sept 17 (Reuters) - Taufik Hidayat begins the defence of his world badminton title on Monday with the threat of a long ban hanging over his head.
In an incident unprecedented in top-class badminton, the turbulent Indonesian stormed off court in the quarter-finals of the Hong Kong Open late last month just three minutes into the game.

The Olympic champion had been upset about a changed line-call in a match against great rival Lin Dan and simply surrendered the contest to the Chinese who went on to win the title.

The pair had fought out last year's world championship final in Anaheim, California, with the Indonesian breezing home in straight sets.

International Badminton Federation (IBF) events committee chairman Paisan Rangsikitpho has said Hidayat's Hong Kong walkout will be dealt with by IBF officials gathered in Madrid for the championships. A ban of three to six months is thought possible.

Hidayat's vagaries and recent form mean that despite his world and Olympic titles he lurks at 31st in the world rankings and is unseeded in the defence of his world crown.

The Indonesian's first-round opponent is 13th-seeded Ng Wei of Hong Kong in a spicy looking affair to highlight the first day's play at Madrid's Palacio de Deportes.

The top four men's seeds, Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, China's Lin and compatriot Chen Jin and Denmark's Peter Gade all have byes into the second round.

Women's titleholder Xie Xingfang of China faces a first-round match with Estonia's Kati Tolmoff but top-seeded compatriot and Olympic champion Zhang Ning has a bye.

In the mixed doubles, British Olympic silver medallists Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms have a chance to make up for disappointment in Anaheim last year when Robertson damaged ankle ligaments while practising on the eve of the tournament.

The pair had been favourites for the gold medal but had to pull out.

i think ibf delayed their decision on taufik's case because they still want taufik to play in the big WC event.

I think even though the bracket with Chen Hong, Peter Gade, Taufik Hidayat and Boonsak seem like a tough one but these four players have not been playing high level of badminton lately. Chen Hong and Taufik still in the slump and I don't expect them to create much wave. Even though we all know what Taufik is capable of but we've been thinking for that last few months and nothing has changed, Taufik has yet to proof he can play high level badminton. Peter has been out of actions for months due to injuries so may not be as sharp as he would like to be ... Don't be surprise if Boonsak come out as winner and get slaughter by Lin Dan. Boonsak style of playing have no chance against Lin Dan. On the contrary, Hafiz also have a relatively easy draw but then we never know which Hafiz actually will show up, if Hafiz can get thru to QF then I expect him to play really well against Lin Dan.
Just a thought!
