The badminton is becoming a popular sport through the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), according to the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

"Badminton is suitable to the physiques and taste of Koreans and the country has witnessed a fast development of its technique.", said Pak Chan-su, secretary-general of the Korean Badminton Association, in a interview with KCNA.

Unlike neighboring countries as China and South Korea, DPRK has never been strong competitor in badminton match.

Now DPRK has chosen many teen players to accept professional training with the aim of making better results in future matches.

All these efforts seemed to have got results, "foreign badminton experts remarked that Korean shuttlers were high in technique for their age and promising after seeing their matches in the Asia Juvenile Badminton Championship held in Malaysia last July ", according to the KCNA.

"Amid growing social interest in badminton, more and more working people and school youth and children" play badminton in sport facilities in the Pyongyang, said the KCNA.
