I don't really knwo much about the ramadhan. but iirc you can eat after sundown till sunrise can't you?
then either get up early, or play badminton in the evening. and stuff yourself full when the sun is down..
playign badminton on a completly emtpy stomach is bad news, when playign youc an really burn a lot of chalories. and on an empty stomach you won't feel too good, and might even pass out!
good luck with the fastening, I hope you can keep it up!

It's really up to you. It doesn't stop me playing for two hours today. My routine training doesn't stop during ramadhan. If you really want to play, I would suggest to start playing early in the morning or later at night (which is much better IMHO).
We started at 9 am, I didn't feel that tired at the end - slightly thirsty but that's about it.

most likely you can play at nights after "sungkai" i guess. Have a small dinner first then play, then eat after that ;)

will do. thx for the advice guys
I do know some muslims brothers go for badminton training during the Ramadan period. However due to their trainings , they have to drink ( to prevent dehydration ). However some off them abstain from food.
But man.. come to think of it.. its hard , no water and food during fasting month.

of they are not fasting ....... anyway, if you are fasting, then you can play in the nite after fasting-break till dawn before fasting-start.
here in Singapore, the fasting break is around 7pm, so still can play with usual group with starting from 8 - 10pm.

Actually you are really not fasting during ramadan. Instead of eating and drinking during the waking in the day time, one does it during night time (7pm to 6am). So I don't see any danger re food or lack of it when playing badminton. What is critical is fluids like water, which you must drink, because your body needs to cool itself with fluids. The fluids you drink at night or before daybreak are just not enough as most of them would have been used up by your body by the time you play during the day. Playing vigorously will lose a lot of fluids which need to be replaced immediately, not until night time.
From my own experience, I did play regularly during Ramadhan. But that was in 1993-1994, when I was lot younger and was a student. Weird enough, I played better during that month and feel a lot more lighter and energetic. And I do not felt any hunger or thirsty. But my sessions were almost near the break fasting time. Therefore I got enough time to replenish whatever lost during that day.
However, nowdays I can't afford to play during Ramadhan due to family responsibilty and I spend 1 hour on the road to reach my home from office.
But it's quite common for some of my friends to fast 3 consecutive months (Rejab, Syaaban and Ramadhan) and they are played regularly in my sessions as well. And they are in their 50's.
Therefore, personally I do not think there's any problem to play during this time but one need to access their own capability of doing so. Get a physician point of view should u in doubts.
Just my RM0.02 though....

Be Careful!! Don't over do it. I remember living in Jakarta and those fasting didn't even drink water. Playing on an empty stomach might be doable but no water, not recommended!!

Play at night..you shouldn't play with empty stomach...
But, maybe you should slow down during Ramadhan...play during the day but just a lil (?)..which won't caused too much water loss???

yeah, no doubt that it's difficult, but i don't think food is really the main issue. i think it's water, i mean, the amount you sweat and the liquid you lose playing 2 solid hours of badminton (in malaysia's climate especially) is massive. hats off to those who can cope well with it.

lol, if i were fasting and dont drink water, i'd literally die, i swear. i sweat so much that i look like a walking faucet when i train (not that much while playing but still alot). and on average i drink about 2.5-3 litre while training

The key is to ensure that all the internal heat generated by your muscles and body is cooled. The coolant is water that you drink which ends up as sweat or perspiration to regulate your body core temperature. Without water there is a very small safety margin, and sportsmen have been known to die from it. If you must play, be extra careful not to over-exert yourself; and rush to the water tap often to cool your face, neck and behind your ears. Use ice if available.

i thought the muslims are not even allowed to be in contact with water thus, they can't even swallow their own saliva or even gargle cool water inside their mouth ?
Well...do correct if wrong.
