Oh well, might as well use a thread for this, eh? Anyway, I'm looking for a coach, be it in a group or individual (of course, individual is much easier for me! xD). Anyway, I need a coach in Penang, if possible in the mainland area (Around SPS is the best! :D)

Anywho, I'm an average player, female, 16, and willing to work hard and commit time. I have none of those nasty tuitions () so it means lots of free time after school.

I don't mind training stints and camps either.

Thanks in advance.:) Oh, and so sorry if it's in the wrong place. >.<

well, i guess the first question to ask is are you on the island or on the mainland?
there are a couple of threads in here that might be useful, have a look and see:

ong ewe chye is ong ewe hock's older brother and a very good player, though i'm not sure whether he still coaches.

no idea who this guy is, but it's worth a try.

Thank you! I thought that since I posted "preferably mainland", i made it clear I was from the mainland. >.< Who would want to travel back and forth with the crazy bridge toll?! Thanks again!

I've actually seen Ong Ewe Chye's training center, and wasn't too sure about it, so I thought I'd scout around some more. :P

oho, i see, hmmm, i guess i missed that part.
can't say i'm too familiar with the mainland, i still get confused between which is perai and which is butterworth, i always thought they were the same place.

i do have a friend in butterworth who's a very good player, you wouldn't think it just by looking at him because he's quite a chubby guy, but very deceptive shots ... hehehe.
i'll see if he knows anyone in that area, what does SPS stand for?

Seberang Perai Selatan. It's the more Kampung area of penang T_T

Thanks very much by the way! :D

In the other thread you mentioned you don't mind training somewhere else temporary.. so if you're really desperate you can always come down to Petaling Jaya and train a few sessions under Misbun Sidek.. since he charges per session.

Assuming you're form 4(age 16) lah.. holidays are the best time to do what you want to do. =) Convince your parents to bring you down here for a holiday or something. Hehe.

Tuition isn't that nasty by the way. =P Hehehe!

oh! can you please give me more info on his training please? IF you can, when, where, how much, and all that. Requirements too, if there are any!

Thanks so much for bothering to reply. :D Finally a solid lead! xD

And tuition is nasty. It's scary. I'm convinced all tuition centers are haunted. :P

http://bulutangkis.web.infoseek.co.jp/nusa/

That's the website you can get more information on. It's around the Kelana Jaya area(actually, I stay just about 15 minutes walk from Kelana Jaya and I've absolutely no idea where his training centre is. Lol!) and it's RM15 per session.

On the website, click the 'Program Latihan' option, top right hand side.

Requirements.. let's see.. has to be at least 180cm tall for guys, and 170cm for girls. Weight: Guys: 58.6kg-66.7kg. Girls: 46.7kg-52.2kg

Any others? Oh yeah, must be able to play like a professional. Oh, and priority will be given to those who can beat Lin Dan during training.

=D Get my drift? Hehehe.

No requirements lah.. except that for the RM15.00 fee you need to be a Malaysian schooling in Malaysia. They did mention something about priority given to certain states, but I doubt it affects anything. If anything, they should give you the priority for traveling all the way down from Penang. Goodness I hate the drive up to Penang. It's so long and I can't sit still after a while. Lol!

When? He has training sessions 6 days a week, everyday except Monday. Here's the training schedule:

Jadual latihan Hari Selasa, Rabu, Jumaat & Sabtu
a) Sesi I - mulai jam 8.00 pagi hingga 10.00 pagi
b) Sesi II - mulai jam 10.00 pagi hingga 12.00 tengahari
c) Sesi III - mulai jam 3.00 petang hingga 5.00 petang

Hari Khamis & Ahad
a) Sesi I - mulai jam 8.00 pagi hingga 10.00 pagi
b) Sesi II - mulai jam 10.00 pagi hingga 12.00 tengahari

I may be joining a few sessions these hols.. when I'm bored lah. School dismisses pretty early(about mid Oct) but frankly speaking, school or no school no difference to me. Haha I enjoy both =P. So when I feel the need for some badminton I'll just pop over at his place I think.

Oh, I don't like tuition centres too. Lol. I prefer small home tuition groups. Where you get to torture the poor teacher. ;-)

Anyway, hope this helps somehow. If you seriously manage to convince your parents to bring you down here to train.. I'd never be able to manage that feat. Haha. Mine aren't even willing to drive 30 minutes to my training centre. Lol!

See you around
Joanne

NOOO!!!! You get let off early. Lucky. T_T Thanks sooo much! At first I thought you were serious about the requirements thingy!!! O.o Yea, I'm such a sucker. >.<

Thank you so much for it! YEp yep, time to beg my parents. ^_^ I might have to bunk at a local YMCA or something like that.... Damn.... <_< Oh well....

Aah, no wonder you like tuition. Your tuition is FUN! =P I still don't like them, and don't plan on ever taking them even though my friends think I'm nuts because we have SPM next year. >.<

EDIT: Aw, crap.... It says in the damn syarat that I have to be schooling in Selangor.... T_T Life is SOOOOO cruel! I think I'll call up to see if this is a particularly enforced rule....

No.. it only says that priority will be given to students from Selangor.. not that only Selangor students are allowed..

I doubt it matters much lah. After all, they take in foreigners too.

Hehe we form 4s get a break early on. =P I'm form 4 too btw. =)

Ask them take a long deserved break in KL and shop or something while you train. =D

haha, no worries.
i'm actually back in penang towards the end of next month, and my friends normally organise some badminton games both on the island and the mainland.
we're welcome to join us if you like, show us what you're made of, and perhaps teach us a thing or two about the game ... :p
