Has anyone try to swap a G5 grip for a G4 grip by inter-changing the wooden handle of a Yonex G4 racquet with that of a G5 racquet?
I'm not sure about Yonex, but with Carltons the wood is screwed AND glued to the shaft. This makes changing the grip a pretty advanced operation.
If you want to go from G5 to G4 then just add some more grip tape instead.
If you want to go the other way, from big to smaller grip, I would suggest you remove the grip tape, get your woodwork tools out, and pare down the wood to a size that fits you.

Go to a tennis pro-shop and get some shrink wrap plastic. They can do it for you for about $10.
I tried this. I fixed a yonex handle on a carlton racket. Now i have a long and greatly balanced aerogear 700 FX.
Man if u have some spare Carlton racket then pls do try it.

is it that stuff that was over the original grip of the cab i got from you?
hi,
I am beginner in badminton and I got some terms that I ddidn't understand
what is the different between 2U or 3U? G4 or G5?
thanks a lot guys
Ivon,
G represents the Grip size and U represents the weight of the racket.
In yonex terms G2 is the biggest grip and G5 is the smallest. There are other manufacturers who have it the opposite way.
U in international terms is standard. 2U is 90-94 gms ,3U is 85-89 gms and 4U is 80-84 gms.
i guess this should help!
