The finals were amazing matches. All went to 3 games except for the Men's Doubles. I didn't stick around to watch the Women's doubles because I had a prior engagement to attend to, and the final game between Lin Dan and Taufik was just disgusting. Never expected the matches to be that great and take that long. ESPECIALLY the Women's singles final between Zhang Ning and Xie Xing Fang. That final game was AMAZING. You can't get any better than that. Gunawan and Wijaya were laughing on the side because of how close the game was, and also I guess because they were warming up, cooling down, and then having to warm up again because of how long the Women's singles finals was. I'm transferring the photos I took to my computer and then going to have to edit a few to be able to post them. I took way too many photos of Tony and Candra :rolleyes:

Yeah! I've never seen a game go to 30 before (I've heard of them but this is the first I've ever seen). And for it to be in the last set! It was sure tense :p.

The announcement made by the Japanese announcer was that the student has always looked up to Kaneko and wants to be like her one day. She was really happy to have the chance to play against her, and was doing a pretty good job. They were both having a lot of fun. I didn't take any pictures of the opening show/dance or the show/dance following the women's singles because it was just pointless and a waste of memory space in my opinion. No one found it interesting...

I have no Women's Doubles pictures because I was out of time and I was also disappointed by the final game between Lin Dan and Taufik, so I just decided to leave.

Yeah, she was having fun playing with the younger girl and the younger girl was having fun playing against her idol. Kaneko was acting like she was the one being taught and squatted down to look up at her 'idol' :p

The previously used stadium was Yoyogi National stadium no. 2, but it's under renovation so no. 1 was used. The feel of the stadium is similar to that of the Thomas/Uber cup that was held this year, but that stadium is about 15 min away from no. 1. This stadium was too big for just the Japan Open. It was more crowded though during the Semis for obvious reasons.

Thanks. I'll upload a few more pics I have later. I realized that I had a few with some interesting poses/expressions from the players :D I'm glad to hear that Tony and Candra are going to try and play more in 2007, so hopefully they'll try and protect their Japan Open title next year and I'll figure out a way to compensate for my vision by then.

The children led them out just like they did during the Thomas/Uber Cup Semis and Finals. One kid per player. Seems like it's a theme now for badminton events held in Japan. Tony was led by a boy. Yeah, I feel jealous of those kids. I wonder if anyone can get a media pass... then I can talk with Tony and Candra again next time if they plan in Japan or Korea :)

Haha, I just noticed that check there. I think it might be Flandy Limpele and Vita Marissa's check since I shot this while Tony was starting to warmup during the WS finals. I also just noticed that mid-section area... We'll just believe he had a big lunch :D . I'm glad to hear that Tony and Candra are planning on focusing on badminton next year. That allows me to believe that there is a good chance they'll be back in the Indonesian, Korean, Hong Kong, and Japan Open next year :) ... which means I'm going to need to find some way to go to 3 different countries next year :o
