So far I have broken only one racquet and it is not broken by me. It was done by my friend who borrowed it and broke it when he smashed at a birdie.
He repaied me with a better racquet though thus I was not too sad :D

Are you trying to find curiosums? My Guenlon was destroyed in doubles play by my partner.

2 - oh dear lol

first one - was walking on court, think i looked behind me - to my now girlfreind but then girl i wanted to be with, next thing i know my racket goes between my legs i don't realise and the dreaded "snap" and falling over

or more recently, i went to return a net shot that someone i was playign with decided to pull out, i got the shot over, but as it was nearly on the floor, and i had to run from the back court, my momentum followed through onto my racket, again, that "snap"

i blame the g/f - she asked me why i took two rackets, cos one was never going to break - least i proved her wrong

1st, I was going to say the proof is very costly. However, since she's your gf now, I guess it totally worth it. :p

this is true :p but you know, i was kinda hoping for an excuse to get a new racket, i just never saw the point cause i liked the one i had - but you know, snapping it was kinda the breaking point (no pun intended) to get a new one:D

Lost count of the racquets I’ve broken over the years some of the recent casualties;
Last one a Yonex MP the shaft snapped about ¼ point up above the cone during a rally.
Previous one Yonex Carbonex the head loop sheared.
Before that had two Carlton Airblades both had shaft failures, a third was returned before it broke completley.
Before that a Babolot which I clashed with another player and knocked out of shape.
Before that a Karakal where the head loop sheared.

Lots of broken rackets. Mostly broken at the shaft just above the conce or at the 8 o'clock position due to mishit smashes and the remaining were snapping and/or cracking the handle.

I only have 1 racquet broke in my life. It was the stringer's fault. I bought my own machine after that. I use to break tennis racquet every year when I was in highschool because Yonex has 1 yr warrenty. After the store stop carring Yonex (reason unknow). My tennis racquets lasted me forever. Go figure...

clashes, damn clashes.
mainly due to miscommunication with partners or over-zealous play, though i haven't really broken that many, maybe 5 or slightly more.

Broke 4,

1. Prince broke during normal play, cracked at the frame...
2. Yonex Aerotus during normal play also, cracked at the frame...
3. Apacs Armourpower cracked during clash with another racquet.
4. Wilson N4, cracked during stringing....got a replacement....sold it since....

hmmm... usually beating calves with them cracks them, then they break during rallies.

altho i managed somehow to get my racquet between my legs during a rally and as i straightened up snapped it mid shaft and in the handle... tis in 3 pieces now :(

oh well.. good thing i like cheap racquets.

-Mishit during smash at 10 or 2 o'clock position. I noticed the rackets that I broke only those that were strung at 30 lbs. I supposed a high tension string rackets reduce its durability.

3 for me which really sucks because they're good ones

1st - NS8000, i was swinging it in my [small] room and i hit the corner of a desk at the 5 o'clock position

2nd - NS9000X (replace the ns8k) i actually have no idea how this one broke, i opened the case once and it was already broken ~ i recently mailed it to yonex for a warranty

3rd - AT700, i assume it was the cold Canadian winters that broke this one since it's from Thailand. First it had a crack on one side, then it spread to the other, after that, a simple clear broke it.

1st - Yonex NS8000 during doubles.

I was preparing a smash to punish a half-court lift to my side of the court. For some odd reason, my partner decided that his backhand block could do better. He stretched out, blocked the shot and my racquet. Cracked at 11:00 and broken clean at 2:00.

2nd - Yonex NS9000-X (also doubles)

Different partner here :P
Made the mistake of stepping too far back, hence I thought a high drive down the middle line was my shot. I stepped back, prepared for a backhand clear. I hit the shot, with my partner trying to forehand drive the shot through. Hit the shaft - snapped it in half. That was... today :crying:

I retired an Armortec 800 OFF when a crack was developing at 11:00 due to a clash.

Off-topic: I also recently destroyed my SHB-99LTD :crying:. Torn the sole apart (not as bad as Dink's :P)

I've Broken 2
my first was this really old Carbonex, i was walking onto the court and i don't even know what happen. i was bouncing it up and down on my hip, with the Shaft (Stupid Idea by the way) and then it jsut kinda snapped...lol wasn't good..haha but it was a nice excuse to get a new racket.

My second one, kinda broke, ok i was on a bus, and i was getting off at the back of the bus/middle of bus. I basically got off where they have those really small doors, that one person can barly fit through, anyways, i was walking down the steps and somehow my racket (Aromortec 300) got caught inbetween the door frame, and i didn't actually realize this, and when i did i already was stepping down to another step, so i had to much downward momentum and then i heard the CRACK and i was all like "NOOO"
so took it out of its case and looked at it, and it turns out that only the paint/outer layer like snapped off, cuz i jsut chipped off all the cracked stuff, and the shaft is fine, whitch is strange. But now its like Super Flxible, probably too flexible, but it still works...lol but it has been moved down to a back up racket, cuz i actually at first thought it was permanently destroyed, so i went out and got another racket/better racket.

I havent broken any rackets since clashing with steel rackets on my 2 widebody 30 like...hmm, 1992? WOW, that's > 15 yrs.:) I did put a minor crack on my iso900 when i hit my knee on a smash follow thru but it is still very playable. I still occasionally clash my MP and armortecs but none broken yet nor suffered any cracks.

HMMM, let me think.
My 1st one was a kason racket (sorry forgot what type) I can honestly say that I mishit it on the side, it happened like 5 years ago.
My 2nd racket was a Carlton airblade, it was during a tournament, my doubles partner was borrowing it, suddenly he got mad and hit it on the ground (still owes me a racket).
My 3rd racket was an AT 800 DF strung to 27 lbs. and around 7 months later and a lot of restringing, the top of it just caved in when I smashed.
The 4th and final racket was my beloved AT 700 (old) my coach strung it, and somehow while it was on the machine, the top cracked. (Sorry, if this doesn't count as a broken racket because the frame is only cracked a little on top, but she told me I she'll replace it and that I can't use that one anymore because it will fully break soon). Jeez (*.*), I gotta take more care of my rackets than I usually do now.

broke my first 2 racquets: the first was a B560 DF a steel shaft raquet. Someone borrowed it and broke the string. He restrung it for me at a higher tension. Soon after while playing in a competition my opponent pointed out to me that my raquet was broken. the second was d first raquet I ever bought, a B-750, first it became deformed then it broke.

I've broken rackets in very stupid ways. I had a woven 8, I wanted to do the hand stiffness test. Unfortunatly, I bent it way too much and the shaft snapped. My heart was broken:(. Another time, I was at home doing some dry swings and the racket head caught the ceiling, that also broke, this time it was an Apacs racket. So my lesson learned, don't do anything with a badminton racket that your not suppose to do with, only play with it in actual play.

i did a very bad jump smash (back then when i couldnt jump smash...) so i hit the birdie then i hit my knee with my racket... so bad that it broke the T Joint (of the racket, not my knee!)

i was screaming in pain and crying for my racket (was my 1st racket ever) while all my friends around were laughing non stop...
the lesson i learned is that my knee is stronger than an aluminium T Joint

My racket (the first one) was a yonex but don't remember the type...

Anyway, I was kinda "angry" that match, since I had a very very frustrating opponent..
So I thought: "Let's smash the hell out of this shuttle:D"
I wanted to put so much power into the smash that the racket flew out of my hands and to the ground at an amazingly high speed.
Consequence? The frame decided that the ground won, and snapped.:D

Broke an AA titanium racket while playing double.Clashed with someone i don't know,a friend of my friend.10 o'clock.

Broke a kason carbon 3.0.My first all graphite racket. It just suddenly happends when i play.Broke on 12 o'clock.Sustained some numbers of clashes during double.

I am not going to crack the dirty joke about the extra stiff shaft.

that acutally made me laugh, almost attracting the attention of other people in the office anyway on topic.. heres my casualty list:

ashaway T5: killed two of these at the 5/7 o clock position due to mishit smashes

ahsaway T2: same as the T5 (almost cried, this was my first one-piece racket)

CAB 20: got angry, threw it in the air and didnt manage to catch it much to my embarrasment, broke at the 12 o clock position

MP 99: one died from a racket clash going for a net kill, the other died after i smacked it against the bottom of my shoe both at the 10/2 o clock position

AT 700: mishit on a microfractured frame due to a stringers incompetence

mainly due to miscommunication with partners or over-zealous play, though i haven't really broken that many, maybe 5 or slightly more.

QFT. I hate racket clashes. Just one and it my racket was done.

Backhand smashing isn't really something to do in a house with a low ceiling and cramped areas :p. Maybe drives is okay to do, or serves, but definately not back-court backhand strokes.

Ive killed about 4 rackets and 2 of them i dont know how. i broke my FZ Forza Ti28 and my Armortec 800 Off with clashes. And more recently i bought a Nanpo 9000X 2 weeks earlier and i went to smash and on the follow through i hit my knee (bearing in mind its the 1st time i have ever done it) and there was a massive crack and yet my knee only had a slight red mark on it.
Second was my Arcsaber 10 in another bizzare accident i was just messing about and swung my foot out and it hit my foot (painfull) and there was a big crack which i didnt realise at the time therfore carried on playing and it jus snapped after the next shot.

So i think its fair to say i am pretty clumbsy or unlucky with rackets haha

6 rackets in total, by order.

1 - Black Knight Dynamo - Tried a jump smash, lost grip of the racket, flew off and amazingly....IT BROKE! xD It flew about 10 meters away and a few meters above the ground and I was

2- Yonex Ti-5 ( old )...was praticing...a basketball suddenly flew in..hit the ball...racket flew off...yes, I do have a good amount of experience of sending rackets in the air...but this time, it was more like a slingshot towards the pole..

3- Yonex Nanospeed 7000 ( old color ) - Smash...smash...and smash...eventually I think it was due by a clash and got a crack at 2 o'clock...then smash...smash...smash....a few weeks later...a big smash finally deformed the frame...

4 and 5 - Yonex ArcSaber 7 - Well...stringer problem...crack at 12 o'clock..unstringable....

6- Yonex ArcSaber 7 - Didndt see a metal beam....clash =. =

Wow, I also had same problem, 1st time I officially broke a racquet...
I tot my racquet was ok, crack happen at 12o'clock.

I think, a combination of high tension, stringer problem and mishit of shuttle on frame. Went undetected...:(strangely no clash happens.

After playing terribly and loosing a few points in quick succession against a headstrong beginner who made some snide remarks at me, I launched a Browning Big Gun CTi at a wall. Good thing my Arcsaber arrived a day later. I'm bit of a hothead on court so many of my rackets have met sticky ends but I am trying to calm down. Now, I'm an advanced level player, I use expensive rackets so can't really afford to wreck rackets in such a way any more.

Me and my bro have broken a few.

10!!

1 - Dunlop (My father's old racket of 80's) - i tried hitting pebbles to see how far it
goes!
2 - Wish PRO-417 - Snaped inside my bag.
3 - My brother's Wish PRO-417 - Too Much Power
4 - Carlton - Sliped out of hand (without a grip) hit the net post.
5 - Gosen Grapower Ti-900 - hit a shuttle with the frame.
6 - Gosen Aermet 5300 - sliped out of hand during a smash.
broke it from the kick-point not the frame!!!!!!
7 - My Bro's Aermet 5300 - Cracked after colliding with partner for more than 10 times
8 - yang yang sensation 008 muscle - Only 2 rackets in Sri Lanka, Collision with doubles
partner.
9 - Yonex mp-66 - A friend hit too many frame shots.
10 - My Bro's Yonex mp-66 - A friend hit backhand into a chair snaped into 4 pieces.

The ones I can remember:

Carlton Powerflo GR - broke during normal play at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions (this broke my heart too!)

Yonex Isometric 300 - hit the floor attempting to reach a smash

Yonex Isometric 300 - hit racquet foot on follow-through during a round-the-head smash, this is possibly the most energetic shot I've ever hit, I have no idea how I got my leg so high! :D The shaft split along it's length making a sort of fibre optic lamp effect, looked pretty cool (I've still got that racquet somewhere!)

Yonex Isometric Slim10 - broke at the 12 o'clock position during normal play (broke 2 of them the same way!)

Yonex Isometric Swing Power 900SX - handle split during normal play

Carlton Airblade Rasmussen - shaft came loose in the handle, this was a strange one - towards the end of a game I'd hit some really weird (unintentional) slices, testing shuttles for speed before the next game I hit them all in the net...which is when I realised it was the racquet making the 'mistakes' not me! ;)

Ashaway T9 - crack developed from a string hole.

Yonex Nanospeed 8000 - no breakages yet...touch wood :)

1st - Carbonex 8 - so, so long ago. It was my sister's even. It broke due to wear and tear and probably the mis-hits...

2nd - Prince Classic Tour 01 - This one's weird. It was practically new. Strung at 24 lbs. No clash or mis-hit. Broke at the 10 and 2 o'clock positions.

3rd - Yonex Muscle Power 9 - Clash with a zealous doubles partner...

4th - Fleet Win Power 70 - My latest. I enjoyed that racket a lot though. What I thought was just a flesh wound (cracked paint) was a small crack that caved in when I played with it just after being re-strung. Strung at 26 lbs., broke as I mis-hit the shuttle.

a MP21 broke when i was using it as a backup when my strings broke at practice, i mishit the bird on a smash and cracked it at the 2 o'clock

a NS9000 also cracked on a smash mishit but this time at the 2 and 9 oclock, the 9 oclock was odd, and i also got bored one day and sawed the racket in half to see the inside, turns out theirs actually very very light foam inside , the SFC i think its called. couldnt find any "elastic Ti" though

recently, actually few days ago i broke a woven 7 hitting it on my calf, i usually never ever hit my calf because it's stupid, if i ever abuse my racket i usually throw it in the net and then catch it, i was surprised and very very sad to hear the "crack" of the carbon , at the 2 oclock, i guess i hit my leg harder then i though, was in a tournament and i was up 20-19 in the third game in the semi's, ended up losing 23-21

Just got a Ti-10 3rd generation strung with BG66 at 23 lbs.(my lowest tension ever). Snapped the strings in about 10 mins. of play ran towards my bag to get scissors which took me about 3 secs. and in that time frame, the racket frame started to crack.

GOOD THING It is still in warranty and the tension was also in yonex's recommended range.

My very first racket (Some $30 Carlton piece of crap). I twisted my ankle and my friend wanted to try out my racket because I always complained about how bad it was (I was planning to get a new and better racket soon).

I bought 2 Yonex arcsaber 7's from a yonex supplier, and after about 7 months of use, both have stress fractures / breaks at the 10 and 2 positions.
Is this a common faullt with these models? as they are marketted to apparently have a thinner frame dimensions.

Slightly of topic I suppose as the title says how did your racquet break not your freinds however it is really funny (but not for my freind)
Freind just bought arc10 brand new he bragged about it all day and then when we got to the court he showed us it
Great racquet I was thinking so we played a couple of games and then had a break next to the court was a set of double doors with handle that you pull open
Freind placed his racquet in the two handles (where you pull there is a gap between the handle and the door he balanced it there) obviously trying to be smart
However he was left in tears as about thirty seconds later the fire alarm went off and his raceuet was still there before anyone could really do anything about four or five people burst through the door snapping the arc10 in half making my friend distrught I felt sorry for him however I wissh I had a video camera

Wow I am starting to get very very worried about my rackets. I just broke a MP29 after a mishit shuttle cracked my frame at around the 3 'o clock position.
I now only have an old B460 (which is way too heavy for my liking) and an MP21....both stock strings. Hopefully the store that I returned my broken AT900P will get back to me soon so I can either get a new AT900 or something else, or even 2 rackets if I get a store credit for the value of the AT900. AUD$290/2 = AUD$145, thus I could get 2 decent rackets.

AND THIS GOES FOR ALL OF YOU!! 97% of the time, unless the racquet is made of steel, when you clash racquets with someone, (maybe also when you constantly mishit) a hairline crack forms in the frame, after that, its only a matter of time before the miniscule crack gets bigger and the frame gives way

For the record, my AT900P was 36 hours old, only was used in 1 game and it broke during WARM-UP! The MP29 was clashed probably twice or three times so that wasn't too unexpected - but the AT900 snapping in thin air after 1 game, with NO clashes and NO mishits (frame shots etc) was totally unexpected....especially after I baby'd the racket during the time it was intact.

Here's my story:

Two days ago,i just lost my 800de to the stringing machine,to be exact, the string. My string, which is the mmoa nano power 66,broke in the middle of stringing process. It was set on 26,27.Then suddenly it broke, and the unbalanced tension around the racket force my racket to change its shape, and then..over.

Yesterday,my at300,strung with BG66 26,27.Just strung for a day, played only once. Then,i took out my rackets and put it on the sofa.Well,it's a habit,u know?Hehe..then,i go into my room n go online.Suddenly i hear broken string sound outside. Then i check out n found out that my at300 string is broken.Luckily,i found it out soon enough.AT300 survived.

Few months back,i also lost my arc10 to NBG98.I found that it's broken when i was opening the bag the next day after i played it a day before that. Never really used it though.I always pay attention to my rackets everyday, include its string. Not like it was worn n stuff. It was strung at 28,27lbs.

About two years ago,I also lost my TSF300A to a BG66.Happend in the middle of the stringing process, just like my 800de.Was strung at 27,28lbs.

It all happend in a great weather, which is not happend because of an extreme condition or so.

Is it just me,or someone else here also ever experienced the string broke by itself, even though it's not even worn out, since u haven't even really use it.Most likely not more than 3 times of playing.Or in the middle of the stringing process? Is it the 0.66 curse?or was it because the string is from the stock that's not properly sealed or old stocks?

I just broke a fake TI-10, because of a clash.
My partner in the game was left handed and on the right hand side of the court, and I'm the opposite (right handed, left side of the court). Things got interesting when our opponents hit to the middle of the court, as it's both of our forehands! A few near misses and then bang, both our rackets broke as we both went for a clear. I clearly said "MINE!", but my partner still went for it. Ahh well, it was only $35 and it was suprisingly good for a fake racket. Smashes and clears were terrific, and withheld BG-80 strings @ 27lbs.

Looks like there was a fault in the racquet. I contacted genji-sport about that, but did not hear back from them. Looks like they do not appreciate feedbacks.
