Kuan - Chen J

WS:

Wang - Hirose
Zhu - Li

Wong - Lu
Wang - Yao
Mori - Zhen
Wang - Xie

double names are too long to type, anyway, partial list

MD:
A lot of Malaysia Chinese.
Xia XZ

WD:
A lot of Japanese pairs.

XD:
6 pairs from CHN, 5 pairs from Chinese Taipei, plus KKK/WTP, the Malaysia Chinese (?)

It seems that Malaysia concentrates on men's doubles, Japanese strong in women's doubles, and Chinese Taipei in mixed doubles. China keeps outnumbering others in both men's and ladies' singles.

Strange things: There are so many Chens in mens singles, none Wang, while so many Wangs in ladies singels, no Chen.

Lin D has won too much.

Some people found out that the player with shorter last name wins the match. Then it's the time for Lu beating Lin, if Lu cannot do that, then there is not much chance left in this touranment to stop Lin. :D Bao? all the others are four-letter last name or longer :D

Hidayat - Boosak
tough call, taufik is unpredictable

Have you watch Lu QC played in 1st round against Simon? I mean he played good, but to say he can beat LD is like too much of expectation on this young fellow. Or do you expect Lin Dan to perform a Taufik all of a sudden when a bad line-call comes out?

Now then you say Taufik to beat Boonsak... tough call, taufik is unpredictable.... Seems to me the word "UNSTABLE" seems more appropriate than unpredictable(which is a word used often to cover one's weakness at times):p

Lin D sometimes plays subpar without reason. His smash is powerful, but if he used too often, he will be tired, then error prone, then frustrated, then lost

I said Taufik is unpredictable for the reason that he's going to upset Boonsak, please keep in mind, that Boonsak is the seed, not Taufik, if Taufik keeps his good run, he will beat Boonsak to make a upset.  Weird, eh

Ng is the seed, while Hidayat is not.
while Lin is the seed, Lu is not,

So that theory seems to only apply to upsets ;)

I made all the predictions according to the seedings, with only two exceptions, Lin D and TH.

Seems like all these weakness will only happen to LD in most people's mind, and LD's opponents will less likely to experience those same weakness, then all of a sudden LD is expected to lose?? Malaysian fans think LCW can learn from LD's game plan, but the reverse can't happen... now people think LD will smash too often, then get tired and lose... but can't the same happen to his opponent?

The last time I watch Lu QC's match, he still had not met world's top class level of play, and he even felt into Simon's trick shot easily. The number of defensive backhand clear Lu had to do just in 3rd round alone was way too many, and that's not a good sign if you are to play against top class players. Lu will need some time to develop his potential and maybe one day he can be the next LD or even better.

My prediction:

MS:
Lin Dan - Lu QC
The only way LD will lost tomorrow is the tiredness having to play 3 events in 3 weeks and won 2 of them. This is the second time LD had to met his own teammates.

Dicky PalYama - Chan YK

Bao CL - Agus Hariyanto

Chen Yu - Sapkul

Andrew Smith - Eric Pang 50:50 here cause lately Eric seems lost a lot when playing lower rank player.

Sato Shoji - Chen Hong
Seems like CH had the easiest route again to at least reach SF.

Hidayat - Boonsak

Can Boonsak win again after his first win this year in Thomas Cup qualification? Boonsak although is a very talented player, but he still lack consistency. Sometimes he can play amazingly brilliant, but most of the times too sloppy when playing top players. Probably TH will win in 3 sets.

Kuan - Chen Jin

After a rest at JO, CJ will win in 2 sets.

Prediction: Probably will not had any major suprise here.

WS:

Zhang Ning- Judith M

Judith can used ZN tiredness after ZN awesome against XXF in JO 2006 final.

Jiang YJ- Wong MC

Wang Chen- Hirose

Zhu Lin- Li Li

Julia Wong - Lu Lan

Wang Lin - Yao Jie

This is the chance for WL to proved to LYB that her title in China PICC earlier this year is not coincidence. After that she lost to easy players couple of times and LYB stop sending her to major events. If she get past YJ, she will probably be send again playing major events.

Kaori Mori- Chen Li

So far this year, Chen Li only lost to her teammates or other ex Chinese players. So she will storm past Kaori MOri in 3 sets.

Wang Yi Han- Xie Xing Fang

WYH had bad draw. From all the draw, she had to meet XXF in R16. If not draw against XXF or ZN, she had chance to move into QF and made LYB notice her.

Prediction of QF: All Chinese players in QF. (Wang Chen also included cause she is from HK )

As for WD, although now Japan still had lots of pairs in R16, in R 8 my prediction will be:

5 or 4 Chinese pairs, 1 Taiwanese pair, 1 Thailand or 1 Malaysia pair and 1 England pair.

I agree with 2cents that Lin Dan will not win China Open this year...maybe not losing tomorrow, but taken down by another one of his CHN teamates later on. He's whooped a lot of ass already(a long streak of consecutive tournaments) but I think his compatriots(Bao, the Chens(3x), maybe some unknown dudes) are probably out for blood too. If there's anywhere in the world where Lin can lose, it's China!....and malaysia:p lol

Lu QC is playing really well - one thing I noticed is that he high serves from the right and low serves from the left most of the time. He may have difficulty high serving to Lin Dan...

Yeah there's a lot of tough competition here for Lin Dan. All the China players are going to be really looking to win in there home tournament. Lin Dan does have to lose sometime! But while it will probably be a tough tournament for him, knowing Lin Dan - he'll probably win anyway :D.

My most anticipated match of CO - Taufik vs Chen Jin! It should be great for many reasons:

- They haven't played each other before (as far as I know?)
- They are both great players (duh)
- Chen Jin is not Lin Dan (less chance for Taufik to cause big drama :p)

I think it will be a close match. But hey, I thought LD vs PG and TH vs LCW in JO would be close too so you never know!

This is the part I really don't understand... how in the world can it be a boring game if is Chinese player vs Chinese player??? Unless you can only see one China flag on each side of the court and the shuttle bounce back and forth, then there is no way it can be boring.

Let me give you one simple example, in the WC06, Lin Dan vs Chen Hong = much more interesting than Lin Dan vs Hafiz where Lin Dan just owned him for free.:p:D It's the quality of the player, not the nationality of the player that matters.

I kept most of the China vs China match in my collection, and I erased the Chen Jin vs Hafiz match in Thailand open so quickly, as once again Hafiz got owned. Now that's a boring game!!!

Trust me, the only time you will really see two China player do a 100% battle with each other is when it is an all-China's sf, or final... that's the time when it will be very interesting, or else you won't be able to see them really play hard against each other... maybe the exception of China open.:p

So far this year, TH vs LD has been rather boring consider the walkover, and give away game.

There are so many new ones to make… In times of difficulties don’t say, “god i’ve a big problem”
Instead say, “hey problem i’ve a big god”

Hi bananaboy,
I would like to apologize about stupid. It means RickSakti never think first before he do write at this forum..

Taufik won alot of tournament included Olimpic and WC. Is it not talented? Not reasanable... Resanable if the player never win the tournament....

I never forgotten about taufik lost some tournament... event all player also lost some tournament. Only Lin Dan consistant player 2005 - 2006....It is very good of lin dan.. Do you see the taufik record on 2002 - 2004, 2005? and another player around 2002 -2004 sometime lost, sometime won.
some player can be drop the stamina, can be drop the motivation, can be drop the skill... Nobody can win all tournament....It is you must remember...OK...

You also must remind ricksakti about: "Arrogant" statement... not cool!!....

A lot players same as taufik but don't want to say like that: Arrogant... OK...

Is that the real result? Or did you just read it from the "Taufik Bible" you hide under your pillow? According to the "Taufik bible", all Taufik's victory(like months and years ago) will be celebrated forever and ever by his followers, and his loss(even as recent as last week) will forever be forgotten.

And you have the guts to call another member here "stupid" with your pathetic remarks.

I am not saying Boonsak will beat Taufik, but giving out false information is not cool!!!

ANy result?? What time does the third round start??

Not,yet. According the web it's starting at 01.00pm (local time) or 12.00pm (Jakarta time). Against Boonsak, is it another 'warming-up' action for TH?? 1st real-test for him is tommorow match vs CJ (China number 2 or 3?!) at QF-spot. Next, CH and ending with his arch-rival LD/BCL. Wow, so many Chinese brigade to stop TH...

sandy_bkk

Boonsak will really need that "S" symbol on his shirt and turn into "Super Boonsak" to win against Taufik. Or pray that Taufik will show up with "unpredictable" again.:p

Oh wait, there is always the chance of bad line-calls, as China is so famous for that!!!:p:p:D Boonsak has a good chance in that case!:p

My prediction is still Taufik vs Chen Jin in QF. Then 50/50 for that match. Or if China hires 50+years old linesmen.. then 75% chance Chen Jin to win...hahaha...

SETIAWAN Hendra/KIDO Markis VS HADIYANTO Luluk/YULIANTO Alvent;
KOO Kien Keat/CHAN Chong Ming VS GAN Teik Chai/ABDUL LATIF Mohd Zakry;
TAN Boon Heong/HOON Thien How VS NJOTO Albertus Susanto/WIRATAMA Yohan Hadikusumo;
CHEW Choon Eng/HONG Chieng Hun VS ERIKSEN Jens/LUNDGAARD;
WIJAYA Hendra/SAPUTRA Hendri Kurniawan VS XU Chen/XIA Xuanze.

These are NOT the matches to be played!!

MD ROUND OF 16 (Selected matches)
Luluk Hadiyanto/Alvent Yulianto vs Chew Choon Eng/Hong Chieng Hun -- a tough match for both pairs. Luluk/Alvent have been given an ultimatum by Christian Hadinata to perform here. They should win in 3 sets perhaps? If they win, they should meet Choong/Lee

Hendry Kurniawan Saputra/Hendra Wijaya vs Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan -- the Singaporean pair has beaten Kido/Hendra in the Singapore Open 2006. I think it's revenge time here with the Indonesian pair prevailing in 2 sets and facing a match against Chan/Koo in the QF.

Xu Chen/Xia Xuanze vs Chan Chong Ming/Koo Kien Keat -- Chan/Koo are still rusty and only managed to beat the Thai no 1 pair in deuce in the rubber set! They should win though...

Gan Teik Chai/Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif vs Hoon Thien How/Tan Boon Heong (MATCH OF THE ROUND)-- ouch...an early derby for both rising pairs. Hoon/Tan to win in 3 sets! The winner will probably meet Eriksen/Hansen in the QF.

Bao Chunlai vs Agus Hariyanto -- Bao to advance...

Taufik Hidayat vs Boonsak Ponsana -- Taufik has strolled past the first 2 matches...Boonsak should be the next victim..

Kuan Beng Hong vs Chen Jin (MATCH OF THE ROUND)-- an early rematch of their WC meeting. Kuan has troubled the Chinese youngster. But, I don't see him winning...

Read in the news that Rexy talked to them after the loss in WC. Seems like they are having the same old problem again according to Rexy. No communication on court and one of them think that he is better than his partner and has no confidence in his partner. So their combination and cooperation fell apart during the WC. When Kim Hock was the coach of the men double, he had always wanted to solve their communication problem.

One thing that i have alway thought of, why can't they support and cover each other well on the court. It seems like when one of them loses his focus, or rhthym or being nervous, the other one couldn't calm his partner and will finally crumble together. Their 'understanding and combination' are just too good, either moving forward together or falling apart together during a match. When they are on fire, both of them will be on fire and when they are down, both will be down.:(

Damn you CTF still laughing:( !!!!!@#$@#$@#%

Why CTF always laughs after their loss? They should take the loss seriously. Seems like LWW takes his games more seriously now. I am so tensed about them. Actually CTF can play superb badminton if he wants to. He played brilliant badminton in 2004.

Not to underestimate CTF/LWW achievements over the years. But I see ALVEN/LULUK with exactly the same problems. Whenever they are behind and under pressure the crumble together.

I play MD myself and i take pride in my ability to lift my partner when he is having an off day. Also give him a lot of encouragement when he is on fire too. But on my part I also ask for his support when i play bad too and ask to keep reminding me.

This is an important thing in MD. I call it an X-factor :)
